West Indies in England

Well I'm saying if Trescothick plays then you should drop Vaughan down to 5.

I think if Trescothick plays then there is a high chance that Cook won't so it leaves number 3 available for Vaughan. I can see where you are coming from, but I don't agree with Vaughan at 5.

I would go with,

Vaughan
Cook
Strauss
Pietersen
Collingwood
Bell
Flintoff
Don't ask me to pick a keeper.
Harmision
Hoggard
Panesar

If Trescothick is ready, take out Strauss, and move Cook to 3.

We don't need a 5th bowler, and our batting line up needs to be longer.

I doubt our line up needs to bat down to 7 against a mediocre WIndies attack.

Trescothick
Strauss
Bell
Vaughan
Pietersen
Collingwood
Flintoff
Prior
Harmison
Panesar
Hoggard

I'd rather we play the 4 bowlers tbh Griffo. We don't need to bat down to 7 against the current WIndies attack not on home soil anyway.

Tres? Well as said lots of times before, if he can't tour then I don't see the point in playing him. I hope he can because he's a brilliant player especially in the shorter format.

I'd probably make two changes to that side. Cook in for Tres and Broad in for Collingwood. Though as a 3rd seamer I'm not too sure. Saj? He's improving all the time but is he good enough? Anderson? Plunkett?

I don't think anyone can predict the line up for the 17th May.

My thoughts exactly but who is your 3rd bowler? Anderson? and who do you drop Bell or Collingwood because im australian i dont care for your captain I see him as probably the worst batsmen there

Well it's hard to chose between Bell and Collingwood imo. Colly is a briliant fielder and you always know he's there in the tests. Bell? Very talented player. Tbh both should make mincemeat of the WIndies attack. I'd probably just put Bell in there tbh.

3rd bowler?

Someone else who has popped into my head is Jon Lewis, he bats a bit which doesn't make our tail look thinner than paper, his bowling is very accurate, depends on the pitches too. Shall be interesting to see how Plunkett, Mahmood, etc do in their County games before the first test.

I think thats the wrong mindset you dont pick bowlers because they can bat a bit you pick them to get wickets no matter how bad they are with the bat. I call it the Warwickshire theory i think every english cricket fan has seen how sucessful they were with a tail to number 11 and tried to apply it to the national team but it just doesnt work that way

Really? I would chose Collingwood over Bell but Bell is to England like Clarke is to Australia

Yeh. I'd hate to be the one to choose between Bell and Colly. I think either would do well.

I think we should introduce Trescothick back in the one-dayers and see how he goes from then on, or possibly play him i nteh last test if we have the series wrapped up already. If we have Trescothick back however, you'd have to say adios to Vaughan:

1. Dropping KP would be insane
2. Cook is unbelievably good with an amazing temperament and bags of talent
3. Bell was great last summer, lots of hundreds.
4. Collingwood scored a double-hundred against Australia. Against the best team in the world.

One;
No, too early for Trescothick, if he won't tour, he can't play at home. Simple.
Two;
If we drop Vaughan we have no captaincy successor.
Strauss hasn't been a regular. Freddie has thrown his chances away, it's questionable whether he should even play tests for a while.
Cook - In the future, yes, next England captain, but too early.
Pietersen - No, Just no. It'd end up like Lara and Tendulkar, giving the captaincy too your most outstanding player doesn't work most of the time.
Bell/Colly - Not up to it.

Bowler - A bowler should never be a skipper.

I think Colly would do a decent job, the captain (beit Vaughan or the others) often turn to him. I know he doesn't have a lot of experience but I think he'd do quite well. I'd personally opt for Strauss if we did change it around.

Vaughan stays in the side imo, he hasn't played a Test since Pakistan 05 iirc but he is our best captain and he should score runs against this attack.

Trescothick
Cook
Vaughan
Pietersen
Bell
Collingwood
Flintoff
Nixon/Prior
Harmison
Panesar
Hoggard

I think this should be a decent series. Both teams not making it into the semis and failing in the super 8's will be hungry to win.
Im tipping England for this one.
