West Indies tour of New Zealand

omg another one, this guy (gayle) scores a century too often, just when the team is in trouble. if he goes with this rate, he will break some nice records :D

just checked out the Century rate, where gayle is right up there with some great names.
the best is Sachin Tendulkar with 10 matches per century, with Gayle , Greenidge and Trescothick with similar rate.
Everyone else have higher century rates > 10

West Indies choked badly at the end. 294 is very gettable on this pitch chasing.

Against England we chased 340 and tied. Sri Lanka won chasing, getting 289 in 2006/07. We scored 335 against Bangladesh batting first. Australia got 347 against us in 2005. It's a low score for this ground. West Indies bowling attack isn't overly threatening. I think the only thing perhaps stopping us is a few newer players.

WI didn't get enough runs in my opinion considering the position they were in but will still take some getting. With inexperienced guys in our batting i'm not overly confident, but it's not a scary total. West Indies need McCullum and Ryder early, simple.

Something else I'll mention: They lost 9 wickets in the end. It will rain later on so D/L will be firmly in our favor if it comes down to it.

Come on Black Caps.

oh and Great innings from Gayle. He's been in top form and the West Indies needed it. He's really carried the team. Chanderpaul played well too. Wow, if Ryder had held that catch West Indies would have been in big trouble!

DL targets will not be affected by Windies losing 9 wickets, since the full quota of 50 overs were used without interruption. Had they finished on 293-0, the same rules would apply.

Whoa, just came to PC and looked at the score: 74/1 in 7.2 overs, I think McCullum is on fire.

New Zealand 107-2 (13.1) , B McCullum 41runs of 28 balls, its upto Guptill now to do the task,he has done in last match, but this match is final,he needs to do once again..

I don't think you're right. Do you have any evidence to back it up? From what i've read/heard on it, it always uses wickets lost no matter what the situation is.

a huge let down by the tailenders. don't understand why Nash was held so far back. 310 would have been a really good score but now I'm not so sure about 293. and we only have 3 full time bowlers.

needs some quick middle order wickets. Taylor is the key one. and this guptil fella is playing good.

Dare added 12 Minutes and 41 Seconds later...

also Taylor is really lucky and so is NZ that was out. these umps in this your haven't been the most impressive i must say. both sides got some wrong decisions.

what did I tell you they calling these weak wides on us but didn't even call them on NZ bouncers down the leg side and a foot over Shivs head. weak.

Evenly balanced now,175/3 in 28 overs, still New Zealand require another 119 runs with 7 wickets and 21.5 overs remaining ,req rr:5.45,interesting final going on...

Actually I think the wide calls have been consistent. Especially since Edwards bowled 2 beamers at McCullum and got away with the second.

Powell just got two wickets. I can see us losing this. We tend to lose any game we're in a favorable position in and win games from impossible positions. I'm blaming Flynn for a stupid shot. I never want to see him play ODI cricket again, tests only thanks. He's hopeless.

We'd better not lose to the West Indies though. That's the next worst thing after losing to Bangladesh. Not a good start to the year.

Oh god, you dolts. Stop getting out to him, he's terrible. Windies have wrapped up the series.

It's simple, If D/L comes into it we're in trouble. If not we should get home with our batting depth and powerplay.

I think we're 5ish runs behind on D/L
