I dont see Dravid becoming coach of the Indian team until the players whom he played with are completely out of the team. For e.g. Dhoni is still captain of India in the shorter formats. Dravid has played under Dhoni and it could very likely become a respect issue where the coach has played under the captain and so the captain doesn't feel obliged to listen to the coach's comments. A coach should be a senior figure who commands absolute respect from every member of the side, including the captain.
Similar with Zaheer. I mean Zaheer can be bowling coach, but not as head coach. I think Stephen Fleming would be a good option if he is willing. All this communication gap theories are BS. Most of the players who play for India these days can understand English well. And having a mixture of foreign and Indian coaches can easily solve the problem. The head coach can be an overseas guy but some of the associate coaches should be Indian to bridge that communication gap. I dont think India has a coach within itself for the immediate future. We have the likes of Dravid, Laxman, Zaheer, Ganguly coming up but its too early for them to be taking the post up.
