Yorkshire's 2010 Season Prospects

Yorkshire who have won the County Championship twice in a row are looking for another successful season this time around.

John Carver's men won the County Championship and the Challenge Trophy in what was an exellent season.

Stats of the players are in the zip file below and I will update them after every match.

Signing's and releases

Paul Griffith for John Penman
Paul Griffith has been released by Yorkshire after only one season.
Averging 41 with the bat and averaging 81 with the ball.
The Yorkshire selectors said "Yorkshire has lot of cricketers that can do his job"

Penman is youth batsman averaging 46 for the second team and has a lot of talent will this season.

Brian Balderstone for Steve Winterson
Yorkshire strangely released Brain Balderstone who despite a poor debut with the ball averaging 80 he batted well averaging 36.
Coach Blackburn said he has "a lot to offer Yorkshire cricket"

Winterson is an unknown, he has had a good 2 years in Minor Cricket for Staffordshire.
Blackburn thinks postively about him, "he has good techique can is an aggressive run getter."

Fred Klokker for Matt Prior
Matt Prior was released from Sussex for a bad season and was quickly snapped up by Yorkshire.

Klokker's is a good keeper said the selecters but is "inconsistant" with the bat.
"Klokkie behind the stumps and been very good but poor form and inconsistant batting has provided his downfall."

Younis Khan for Sachin Rana
Yorkshire's leading run scorer last season Younis Khan has a summer with Pakistan so he is unavaliblle for the season.

Rana however has done exceptionly well in Indian domectic's in 73 matches averaging 47 with the bat and averaging 25 with the ball and has held 75 catches.

[U Bob Hansen for Ray Middleton[/U]
It was stange that Yorkshire were dismissive about Hansen who look promising at the start of the season, he looked to be released of poor form rather than no talent.

Middleton has come from club and a bit of minor cricket.
It will be interseting to see how he plays.

Game 1: Yorshire vs Derbyshire

WeatherConditions.jpg

Good pitch it seems for pace bowling.

News from the toss is:
Derbyshire have won the toss and elected to bat first.

Looks a strange decison, the pitch looks moist and overcast conditions are about here.

Yorkshire
Paul Johnston
Michael Vaughan
John Carver (c)
Sachin Rana
Michael Lumb
Tom Westley

Lawrance Nelson (wk)
