Derbyshire's first innings

Birt and Stubbings came to the wicket and both started sidately after seeing the movement on offer for the Yorkshire seamers.
Birt hit a couple of boundries.

Stubbing then recieved a good ball from Kabir Ali which was edged to second slip.

Stubbings 12 (40) c Kalpage b Ali FOW:29/1

Then Partnerships with Travis Birt and Englands Malcom Dyke who scored a few boundries until Dyke clipped a full ball on middle stump to mid wicket where Michael Lumb took a simple catch.

Paul Horton didn't last long under the seaming condtions and after his wicket fell Derbyshire were in trouble at 62/3

4th wicket partnership between Birt and Goddard produced 65 runs, leading wicket taker last year, Adil Rashid came on to bowl and in the condtions was targeted from Lee Goddard.
Goddard played 1 shot too many and out to a good bit of work behind the sticks by Nelson.

Adnan was not content to nudge the ball around, as far as he was concerned it was either a boundry a block.
it put on a 45 partnership but got a cracking ball from young Sachin Rana to give him his first wicket for Yorkshire.

Page took a while to get going but bulided up the total slowly, while Travis Birt was still looking solid.
Page fell then to a superb catch from Lawrance Nelson of the captian's bowling to give him 2 good dismissals.

The captian joined his solid Australian opener to the wicket where a good stand was made between them.

It took a magnificant delivery from Indian oversea's Rana to get through Travis Birt's unmoved defense.

A good move then from John Carver to bring spinner Adil Rashid back on who removed the tail.

Effeient performance from the Yorkshire's bowlers taking advantage of the seaming conditions.

Derbyshire made a terrible descion to bat first on here and it took a gritty innings from Travis Birt to gain some respectablilty.

travisbirtinningsanalysey7.png

Birt played a risk free innings and his main objective was to hold the innings together and to put up a total to give Derby's bowlers something to bowl at.

Kabir Ali was pick of the bowlers for the County Champions taking 3 wickets and using the helpful conditions effectively.

Yorkshire now a good chance with this batting line-up to bat Derbyshire out of this game.
Derbyshire have to take advantage now of this conditions and how to restrict Yorks to if not lower than their total.

Yorkshire's 1st Innings

Yorkshire open with Paul Johnston and Michael Vaughan.

The Yorks survive the day at 29/0.

Vaughan made a postive start with 2 beautful cut shots.
Johnston went early in the morning trying to cut a wide ball and only got the bottom of the bat on.

Johnston 16 (30) c Goddard b Wagg FOW:35/1

Vaughan continued to look in good form and after a few close lbw shout Carver was coming into his own.

Vaughan after a good start was decived by a bit of movement from the captian Wagg and was out lbw, Wagg picking up his 2nd wicket.

Vaughan 36 (69) lbw b Wagg FOW:78/2

Then the best partnership of the innings of 103 between Carver and Rana.
Carver looked in very good touch and looked on for a big score while Sachin Rana who had taken 2 wickets in the Derbyshire first innings, adapted to the seaming conditons very quickly got into his stride.

Caver passed his fifty in style and after 181 was on the board it took a good ball from hunter to dismiss him.

Carver 64 (110) lbw b Hunter FOW: 181:3

Lumb carried on from his productive season last year by smashing a few his hips and 2 well executued cover drives.

It ended with him playing across the line and bowled all over the place, everyone new that could of been a lot more influential on the game.

Lumb 43 (53) b Newby FOW: 256/4

This is when a mini calapse happened for the Yorks, the in man Rana was caught at short leg of offspinner John Needham for an good debut 87.

ranawicketyp7.png

Rana 87 (145) c Dyke b Needham FOW: 266/5

Sri Lanka's young alrounder Kalpage went after only faceing only 3 balls, Needham struck with his second wicket in 2 overs and Yorkshire struggling.

Kalpage 2 (3) c Hunter b Needham FOW: 270/6

Nelson didn't last long after his good form last season and 2 good dismissels just a chip to short leg where Adnan made no mistake.
Big of trouble for Yorkshire now.

Nelson 1 (6) c Adnan b Needham FOW: 288/7

Kabir Ali came out with a big task for Yorkshire and he and Tom Westley put on 68, Kabir Ali hammered the bowling and look good.

Westley was the man to go trying to cut one too close to his body and was out caught behind after making 59 well deserved runs following his 215 against Surrey last season.

Westley 59 (95) c Goddard b Wagg FOW: 368/8

Soon after came the dismissel of Kabir Ali who's 43 had got Yorkshire out of danger.

Here is Yorkshire's batting card

The star of the innings was the Indian Sachin Rana who nearly looked at home on this seaming wicket.
He played really well and looks like an alrounder for the future.

carveriakd3.png

Carver has made again a good start and leading by example playing really postively and would be disappointed when he got out because he could have got a bigger score.

Tom Westley played a good hand, after his double hunded against Surrey last season knowing his place in the first XI is scure played a good innings after Rana departed.
westleyiaep9.png

Yorkshire would not of gotten where they would want to be without the help of Kabir Ali who's 43 off 47 balls provided the finishing touches that has got Yorkshire into a good position.
aliiaxh6.png

Yorkshire now would like now early wicket while they have a lead of 82 runs.

Derbyshire really need to keep wickets in hand suring and after the lead.

A good chance now for John Carver's men to grab this first game by the throat.

I haven't, try uploading them to imageshack to see if that fixes the problem.
