4th Test: England v Australia at Chester-le-Street Aug 9-13, 2013

Onions should be playing too. Just goes to show that for all this talk of challenging for places, if your face fits (Broad) you're in and if it doesn't so much (Finn) you can be left out for similar results. Broad has been poor in this series, yet still can't get dropped for a form bowler, on his home ground.

It's always difficult to prove, but there is a clique and Broad has not been doing the biz with the ball. He can bat, he's "in", so he'd have to go wicketless a few Tests in a row and probably nut the umpire before he'd be given leave of absence.

Not sure if the aussies picking the toothless Lyon that doesn't roar was a good move, but Watson getting Root out has given them a decent start.

Be ironic if Cook and Trott both piled on big scores......................

Even session. Low RR again but saw off the new ball and only lost one wicket.

Set up for a big Trott innings this, if he can stay slow and steady for another 10 overs.

I've just got an eye on the weather. The light isn't brilliant, and those dark clouds that keep scrolling over ain't helping. Really hope we don't lose another test to rain.

Beautiful ground and setting......shame for Trott.....was really motoring along....

KP's showing no respect for Lyon! Great viewing after the Cook, Root and Trott grind.

Totally agree. Negative cricket punctuated by crazy slogs. Have they all forgotten how to pace a test innings?

Indeed. It is either sloth mode or agitated zombie mode and nowt inbetween. Great chance for JB to prove himself....

It is good that he is sticking around but someone needed to score some runs unless we are playing for time already.....
