England had another good session despite losing two late wickets. The session added 102 runs for England with both openers passing the 40 mark. Strauss was the first to depart after gettign ran out of a direct hit and Vaughan soon followed with a LBW. The decision looked plum intially but closer inspection found it to be closer than first assumed.

D.Gower- It now paramount England do not loose anymore wickets. Pietersen showed his form in the first innings and hopefully he will build upon it. Trescothick hasjust got to hang around for the moment and ensure he keeps going.

A.Strauss- Me and Tres decided that our downfall in the first innings was playing to losely so we decided we woudl watch out as many over as possible and then waite for the ball to soften up and loose its shine. It paid of definetly so hopefully KP and Tres can keep going untill the new ball.

England are 87 runs Behind

England are near..just 87 runs... one century partnership now will take the pressure of from them now!!!

England finally have a lead after hitting 98 runs in the early session. Trescothick played well and threatened untill he managed to pick put the only man on the boundary with a big shot. After he deprted Flintoff attempted to carry on his form of the first innings. This prooved difficult with Warne spinning all kinds of trouble. After two close appeals Warne seemed to have tied down the alrounder but Flintoff batted smartly and managed to stay. Unfortunetly his partner Pietersen didnt and manged to edge it to Gilchrist. This left England with tow new batsmen but they have abtted well and put 50 on already. However if Warne keeps bowling as tight as he is, somethign is bound to happen.

D.Gower- England have doen the hard part and have got a lead, but batting for as long as possible is key if they want to stand a chance in this match.

England are 11 runs ahead

Potentially a match saving session for England as they raced to 371 for 4 without losing a wicket. Flintoff score 79 runs along with Collingwood who added 76, togther they had amassed over 150. For Australia things have looked ordinary though Warnes economy does stick out. However it would seem he and a few of his fellow expirenced bowlers have been underbowled with Hussey managing to bowl 27 overs! This suggest that players are tired and maybe that the declaration was a bad idea.

D.Gower- England must complete this final session to ensure they have a chance of salvaging this match. If they dont then the Australians have plenty of time on their hands. .

England are 118 runs ahead

A brilliant story here pal and a brilliant innigns from both Collingwood and Flintoff. A lead of over 200 will give England a slim chance in this match.

This is top notch as always mate. Colly and Freddie need to stay until the end of the day and longer in order to get a decent total for Aussies to chase

Yeh im hoping for around 200-250 lead probably giving the Aussies two sessions to get it. Thanks for the replies as well

Australia fought back after tea by taking 5 wickets. Flintoff fell first by gliding the ball straight to gilchrist. This then brought Read to the crease who didnt last long before taking a wild swing and edging Hussey to the slips. This left tremendous pressure upon Collignwood who held on well untill he was undone with a equally soft dismissal by finding the edge as wel of a defensive lunge. Soon England fiound themselves all out but things hadnt turn out to bad with them ahvign a lead of 177. The Australians now have to chase this down in the final day, the picth is Worn and showing uneven bounce, can England pull it of.

P.Collingwood- I think we have done extremely well to get into the position we are in. I felt the picth was becomign uneven so hopefully are pacemen will trouble the Aussies and of course Monty.

Cricket20052006-10-2621-24-19-04.jpg

D.Gower- I think England are at leats 50 runs short. Flintoffs dismissal sums up the final session, it was a give a way wicket. England have got a lot of work to do now if they want to save this match.

Australia need 178 to win

178 is easy for Aussies but England have chances of creating pressure by taking early wickets like say, 50/5 :) Tough Luck England!!!

Flintoff Manged to remove both openers in a firey spell of 9 overs before Lunch. The lancashire pacemen bowled in the mid 145kmh and bowl two destructive balls, one removign Langers middle stump and the other finding the pad of Hayden. The Australians started well with 50 soon on the board but soem tight bowling from Harmison and Flintoff enabled a breakthrough. Martyn was the last wicket to fall when he to[p edge a sweep of Panesar. The catch taken by Hoggard sumed up the mornign session with England going for everything.

D.Gower- This session is the decider. If Australin dont loose a wicket or two the game is theres, if England get a coupel more it could be theres. This game looks liek its going to be close.

Australia need 107 to win

England doing what they do best, giving away their wickets when it matters the most. We need to bowl well now to get Aussies reeling.

hmmm 71/3!!! Now England has to set their target to pick couple of quick wickets before 100...... They can still fight!!!

England again out played the Aussies in a session that brought 3 more wickets. The run Rate which is a tad over 2 shows how England have pegged back the Australians and Also made the draw a slim possibility for both teams. Flintoff struck again with the wicket fo Ponting who foudn the yorker to hard to dig out and left his stumps open. Following his departure the innings fell apart with Symonds and Gilchrst btoph falling to Panesar. Australia have dug a big hole but positive batting shown from Wanre might just rescue them.

D.Gower- We all thought this session would decide the game but the way Warne as come out and batted along with hussey makes us think other wise. If the Aussies carry on they can still win but another wicket now and the game is almost certainyl Englands. However, at this rate a draw coudl even happen.

Australia need 59 to win

C'MON MONTY!! Much better from England, if they get Hussey out this could go down to the wire!
