Keep up the good work mate

This session was a mixed one for England. Despite taking the wicket of Symonds, Queensland ended the session with 304 runs on the board and therefore just 54 more to avoid following on. Symonds fell to some great bowling. Mahmood who was brough back into the attack struggled with his first two deliveries going for a four and 6. The he followed up with a towering bouncer that forced Symonds into the hook, straight to the only man, Collingwood. Pietersen of all people took the 2nd wicket after findign an outside edge to 2nd slip. Despte getign smashed for a hueg 4 he looked in control and did threaten.

D.Gower- Not the best session for England and now the next four wickets are paramount. England would have been hoping to not bat again but thats looking increasingly unlikely.

Queensland are 204 runs behind

Good presentation tjh. I'm really liking this story. Queensland are batting well. England need to get Philipson out fast.

Thanks, yeh Phillipsons is becoming a bit of a pain and reducing the chances of allowing me to make them follow on.

C.Philipson hit a career best of 124 has Queensland were finally bowled out for 413. M.Hoggard picked up 3 wickets and was the pick of the pace bowlers. Harmison however showed soem form but looked tired in the later part of the innings. Again, Monty Panesar bowleed well and took 2 key wickets and the final wicket as well. Mahmood took his first wicket of the tour but didnt look convinvign at time. It was clear to say alot of the English attack look tired and therefore it is important they rest before the forth comign test series.

D.Gower- A tiring session for England with little motivation. The game is almost certainly a draw now so England can relax and just bat for a few hours.

England lead by 95 runs

England batted fairly well to enable them to delcare and enable the possibilty of a result in this match. K.Pietersen top scored with 36 and a flamboiant style and shared a 50 partnership with Cook 31. However with their dismissals there was a collapse no more evident with the wicket of jones hwo looked totally out of form with him edging his first ball and getting away with it and then edging his next delivery and perishing for a duck.

D.Gower- The wicket played totally different and varible bounce was becoming a evident issue. England need to keep their cool and make sure Queensland dont run away with the game.

Queensland require 202 runs to win

Good story its gunna have to take something special from englands bowlers to get a win out of this

Matthew Hoggard starred with 7 for 55 as England won their last warm up game before the first test by 54 runs. Things looked bad when Hayden was dismissed for a duck after being stupidly run out by his partner. Wickets continued to fall with Harmison bowling tight aggressive lines. Despiet some quick resistance and a magnificant last ditched atempt by Bichel 41, Hoggard snapped his final wicket, his seven and finished the game. As a result he was awarded the Man of the Match and it was ultimately decided after his cunning delivery that suceeded three bouncers and then a slower short of a length delivery that Hoffke ducked!. This performance by England has helped hugely in their test preperations.

D.Gower- A truly magnificant performance by Hoggard. Before this match his selection in the team looked questionable but his wickets in the game have come from hard work and determination and he looks certain to feature in the first test.

Man of the Match M.Hoggard- Before this game things just weren't happening but i've been workign with Kevin shine and it paid of and hopefully it will continue into the first test back here in Brisbane.

England win by 54 runs

I bowled the ball slower and usually would bounce fairly high and he was new to the crease ducked and it kept very very low. On eof my best dismissals ever i think.

-----------------------------------------------------

Selection ahead of First 3Mobile Test:
*Selection is dependant on candidate playign at least one match

Batsmen:

M.Trescothick
Matches- 4
Innings- 7

Runs- 444
Highest Score- 236
Average- 63.43
100's- 1
50's- 2

Comment- Definet candidate to open the batting for England. Averaging over 60 in 7 innings and amassed some high score throughout. As also shared valuable partnerships.

A.Strauss
Matches-4
Innings-7

Runs- 253
Highest Score- 68
Average- 36.14
100's- 0
50's- 2

Comment- Not in his greatest form yet has still manage a fair average of 36. Has had useful partnerships with his best being with Trescothick of 129. This therefore boosts his selection hopes. Furthermore he has also captained England to an important tour win.

M.Vaughan
Matches-2
Innings-3

Runs- 130
Highest Score- 69
Average- 43.33
100's- 0
50's- 2

Comment- Despite Playing just 2 games Vaughan has still captained well and batted well simularly to that of the 2002 tour. Averaging 43 more than his career average he should feature though his fitness is questionable.

A.Cook
Matches-2
Innings-4

Runs- 127
Highest Score- 67
Average- 31.75
100's- 0
50's- 1

Comment- From his 4 innings he has showned parts of his ability and has amassed some good starts. However, as of yet has lacked the capabilty to keep them going.

I.Bell
Matches-2
Innings-4

Runs- 99
Highest Score- 68
Average- 24.75
100's- 0
50's- 1

Comment- Averaging lower than his career average, Bell hasnt looked threatenign in any game. Despite one 50 his average sits at just below 25 which is poor for his high standards.

K.Pietersen
Matches-4
Innings-7

Runs- 243
Highest Score- 67
Average- 34.71
100's- 0
50's- 1

Comment- For someone of Pietersens abilty scoring only one fity is poor. However when quicks runs where needed he has succeeded. His quality is too good to leave out.

-----------------------------------------------------
Allrounders:

A.Flintoff
Matches-2
Innings-3

Runs- 106
Highest Score- 57
Average- 35.33
100's- 0
50's- 1
------------------
Over- 58
Maidens- 15
Runs- 170
Wickets-10
Average- 17.00
Best Bowled- 4/64
Strike Rate- 34.8
Economy- 2.93

Comment- Flintoff has shown his wealth as a allrounder already despite only featuring in 2 games. Though his batting is great, his bowling is superb. With 10 wickets at 17 runs each and every 34 balls, even if he had batted porrly he would definetly still feature in the XI.

P.Collingwood
Matches-4
Innings-7

Runs- 299
Highest Score- 216
Average- 49.83
100's- 1
50's- 0
------------------
Over- 41
Maidens- 5
Runs- 145
Wickets- 4
Average- 36.25
Best Bowled- 3/34
Strike Rate- 61.5
Economy- 3.54

Comment- Collingwood, in the squad more for his battign has followed through averaging 49. Howeer looking closely it is evident that his big 216 score is the only uns he has amassed with him scoring just 83 runsfrom his next 6 innings. Therefore, could Collingwood miss out??? or has he provided sufficent status in the line up?

-----------------------------------------------------
Wicket Keepers:

G.Jones
Matches-4
Innings-7
Not outs 2

Runs- 104
Highest Score- 56
Average- 20.80
100's- 0
50's- 1
------------------
Catches- 5

Comment- Already a contoversial selection point and it would seem it has worsened with Jones failing in 6 inninsg out of seven. Averaging just 20, is it time to give someone else a try????

-----------------------------------------------------
Bowlers:

L.PLunkett
Matches-3

Over- 38
Maidens- 8
Runs- 139
Wickets- 1
Average- 139.00
Best Bowled- 1/51
Strike Rate- 228.00
Economy- 3.66

Comment- Easily the worst of the English bowlers. Taking just one wicket in 3 appearences at 139 rusn each, surely its time to leave plunkett out.

M.Hoggard
Matches-4

Over- 121
Maidens- 30
Runs- 313
Wickets- 17
Average- 18.41
Best Bowled- 7/55
Strike Rate- 42.7
Economy- 2.59

Comment- Second leading wicket taker for England, Hoggard has bowled brilliantly. Despite not being up to his usually high standard of form, in th elast match hoggard put in a match winning performance that ultimately sealled hoggys selection.

S.Mahmood
Matches-1

Over- 43
Maidens- 12
Runs- 184
Wickets- 3
Average- 61.33
Best Bowled- 2/30
Strike Rate- 86.00
Economy- 4.28

Comment- Having played just oen game, its understandable if Mahmood didnt provide a great performance. However, he did show his ability at times and with Plunkett's form doubted Mahmood could see selection.

S.Harmison
Matches-3

Over- 107
Maidens- 19
Runs- 415
Wickets- 10
Average- 41.50
Best Bowled- 3/54
Strike Rate- 64.20
Economy- 3.88

Comment- Not in the greatest from and his figures show this however, towards his last game he has coem up with the goods and threatened all the time, Leavign Harmison out is unlikely to happen.

M.Panesar
Matches-4

Over- 143
Maidens- 54
Runs- 281
Wickets- 19
Average- 14.79
Best Bowled- 6/22
Strike Rate- 45.20
Economy- 1.79

Comment- From four games Panesar has became England leading wicket taker of the tour so far. Taking 19 wickets at 14.79 runs each Panesar has ultimately ended Giels career though he remains on tour. Will Panesar continue into the test though with this form.
