England delay Sqaud Selection after Vaughan injury Fears

After 4 Tour matches England kick of there Ashes campaign in Brisbane. So far it has been a mixed tour for England. Things kicked of in Perth with the Warm up match against the Prime Ministers XI. Collingowdd top scored with 216 and England onyl had to bat once, however some nervey batting saw the Ministers Survive the last session to draw. From here England head to play South Australia on a wicket that proved to be the most testing of the tour. Under overcast conditions England watched South Australia declare just under 300 with Lehmann 169 not out. England then were dismissed for a poor 73. Following on, England Eventually put themselves back in the game, but South Australia came though to win by 8 wickets. At this poitn of the tour things were looking gloomy however some good batting in the last two game ensure two great victories.

Finally we have made it to the opening test. Perfect conditions for cricket with a packed stadium. After a succession of hot days here at the Gabba, the groundsmand has struggled to make a pitch that wont fall apart. As a result we see here a dry wicket, whcih will hodl together for the first couple of days but will defiently take to spin by the thrid day. Therefore battign first is paramount. However they, if they choose to bat first, must ensure they dont get bowled out cheaply or else they could find themselves up agaisnt Warne on a turning wicket.

D.Gower- Just us soon for the Toss and the Start of the 1st 3MOBILE Test.

Wow this is a really nice story mate. Enjoying the reading. Keep it up!

Ashes underway as 1st Test Begins

Cricket20052006-09-0415-21-28-76.jpg

The 1st 3MOBILE Test is underway with Micheal Vaughan making the English XI. The captain of England was not '100%' this mornign put since then the pain in his knee has disappered. As a result Cook misses out along with Bell with Collingwood being selected ahead of him. However the big news of the day is the re-selection of C.Read. The wicket keeper/Batsmen, who ahsnt seen action in ay of the tour games, was selected ahead of Jones. Jones, who had onyl score one 50 in 7 innings and avergae just 20 hasnt looked in any form and it seems unliekly he will regain his place for a while.

For Australia it is again, a strong line up. Micheal Clarke misses out with Symonds coming in. Gillepsie and Kasprowcz also miss out to Stuart Clark and the verteran Mcgrath. The top order has changed little and Gilchrist still wears the gloves. These two teams look very evenly matched.

SQUADS LINEUPS

M.Trescothick - J.Langer

A.Strauss - M.Hayden

M.vaughan (capt.) - R.Ponting (Capt.)

K.Pietersen - D.Martyn

A.Flintoff - A.Symonds

P.Collingwood - M.Hussey

A.Read (Wkt.) - A.Gilchrist (Wkt.)

M.Hoggard - S.Warne

Sajid Mahmood - B.Lee

S.Harmison - S.Clark

M.Panesar - G.Mcgrath

D.Gower- Finally the 1st Test gets underway, after alot of preperation by the two teams, it should be a cracker of a match. Theres pressure on players of both sides and should add to the intensity.
I.Botham- Its a Dry, Dry wicket down here at the Gabba, the groundsman has doen his bets to ensure it holds together but i think batting first is the only way and Australia have got an immediate advantage especially with the master of spin- Warne.

Notice: Current scores will visible on the name of this Thread and will be updated every time i have played the game. Then at intervals etc. screens and updates will be poste din tis thread as usual.

A great session of cricket in this opening Ashes Test. Australia added 104 rusn despite losing both openers. J.Langer went first to Harmison. Harmison was gettign little from the pitch yet managed to force Langer into forcing one into the leg side to a waiting Pietersen. Hayden and Ponting added a big partnership, with Hayden soon reaching his 50. His score, built largely around attacking, showed the lifelessness of the wicket and demonstrated how big scores were possible. Unfortunetly for Hayden it was not going to be for him when he clipped one of Flintoff to pietersen again. England taking a wicket just before Lunch will go in slightly on top but theres alot of runs amassed here today and things coudl soon changed.

D.Gower- A mixed session for btoh teams. Australia will be happy with the runs yet woudl have liked Hayden still there. For England they got two wickets of the openers but 100 runs in a session is quite steap.

Australia Lead by 104 runs

This session proved to be a good one for Australia with them adding 104 runs again. Ricky Ponting amassed 97 before he waas magnificantly caught by Flintoff. This turned out to be the only wicket for England in this session and therefore leavse the Australians in a strong position at Tea. Panesar was introduce to the attack but had little effect with ponting smashign 2 fours of his first over, the pick of the bowlers in this session is undoubtedly Hoggard who had manged to get the big wicket of Ponting with a ball that he got to climb of a unresponsive deck.

D.Gower- The australians are scoring at a strong rate and have lost few wickets in doing so, 400 seems abouy par but i think Ponting will be hoping for a bit more than that.

Australia Lead by 204 runs
