Ashes 2015 - Australia tour of England July/September 2015

England to be honest have had a good day, however, Aus had done the hard work yesterday, and have just chipped away that little bit extra to build on their dominance even further.

Ballance has an ugly technique, but gets runs. It's how many you get, not how pretty you look getting em.

Bell is a talented player with no mental strength.

Find the decision not to enforce follow on bizarre.

Is it just me or does anyone else feel that Jimmy has completely shelved the idea of the in swinger to the left hander?

I have a sneaky feeling that we're going to see an over smart declaration and then some magic from England.

The commentators literally said exactly that a minute after your comment...

Of course. AND you're sure Ballance is going to get runs in the future with that technique because? Some crystal ball you have mate?

Honestly, everyone loves a good debate and I get to learn a lot around these boards but your constant thrashing of Bell and hailing of Ballance as the 'run machine' is just a poor attempt at comedy as far as I'm concerned.[DOUBLEPOST=1437234692][/DOUBLEPOST]

Im not sure, I think its SkySports but it could be SuperSport. Also with Ballance and Bell you dont drop the guy scoring runs because he might not score in the future. Imagine if the Windies dropped Chanderpaul because he had a different technique. If Ballance stops scoring then you drop him, if Bell scores then you keep him. Its simple...

Okay. Yeah. Anderson is at his best when he's swinging it both ways. He's been very predictable lately.

On Ballance and Bell? I don't think either deserves to be in the team at the moment.

I haven't called Ballance a run machine, but throughout the history of test cricket guys with technical issues but good mental strength have generally endured fairly well.

Ballance is in poor form over the last 6 months, no question. I think he's got enough credit in the bank based off the start of his career to persevere with for now. Bell, in averaging under 30 over 2 years, at a time England needed him to stand up as a senior member of the side, has squandered any credit and a pretty cover drive doesn't alter that.

Meh has the feel good bubble burst or is this just a dip? We are looking pretty toothless...

Okay calling it now, somewhere down the line ICC will lead an investigation into this match, and the finding will be that the Aussies had found a way to secretly smuggle in a custom made pitch somehow, and two different pitches were put to use afterall.

One for Eng to bat on, and another for when Aus batted.

Lot of sameness in the English bowling. Poor fields as well. You need short catchers on this wicket. Use a little bit of cross seam and some cutters. Slower deliveries too. At the moment it's the same 4-5th stump good length stuff.

I think the Bell and Ballance debate is a no brainer. Bell is on his way out with no. of his cricketing days limited, Ballance has a future. Which of the two would you rather invest in and give opportunities to when out of form? Its clear England (or any team) cant afford two passengers in the batting line up in a test.

Australia perfectly placed at the end of day 3. Tomorrow's plan must be batting at 4 rpo for 40 overs and trying to nick a few wickets.

Nothing wrong with Ballance's technique; it has got him runs wherever he has played, so why should he change? Sure, he's had a rough time this series, but every player goes this. Katich and Chanders had the worst-looking technique, but it still got them runs. ECB shouldn't do a Compton(drop a young player after one poor series) with Ballance. On the other hand, Bell should be dropped for Bairstow if he doesn't perform in the second innings. Could any England follower explain what happened to Bell? Didn't he have an average ≈50 in 2012? How has it declined to 43? Has he got some off-the-field issues?

Very sure if I was a fast bowling running into bowl at chanderpaul, and I saw him with that stance of his facing me chest on, as if I were running in from square leg, it would drive me insane. It just really would.
