well, currently 302-7. I think if we could get 350 from here it would be decent enough. Thats considering the way you aussies have been batting :) Anyway, looks like rain this weekend, so it shouldnt be significant this england collapse :p

319/7 at close of play
Pretty even i think so far, perhaps Australia will be the happier of the two teams though.
Could do with Jones and Giles hanging around in the morning and getting us up to about 400.
Be glad when that Aussie spin bowler with the blonde hair retires though lol

Yep i agree its pretty even at the end of the day. Aussies just nudgeing the lead for me, but England are still in an excallent position for at least a draw.

Well i cant get the weather for kennington but the weather it does take me to is this and it shows that there will be a full 5 days play :D.......i take back what i said about England being favourites. I think its even now but a big performance with at least 2 centuries is needed from the aussie batsman.

Damn weather people are winding us up now :D

I do believe that would be incorrect my dear boy. There's a weather front sweeping the country from north to south tomorrow. Frequent rain interuptions i'm predicting.

Friday.
A warm and humid day with sunny spells. Thundery showers developing especially in the east. Maximum temperature 26 deg C (79 deg F).

Directly from the UK met office. ;)

Its going to be rain in the next few days.

Damn British weather! I bet it will rain on Saturday and Sunday, the only days I can actually watch the cricket!!! :mad

Personally i can see England batting unti Lunch with a score of around 360-370. Aus will probably come back and maybe scrape a first innings lead of about 30-40 runs. England will proably bat again at the ned of the 3rd day and if they can bat throughout Day 4, with rain interruptions..this game has got draw written all over it. Winning the toss was so crucial to England, so we can bat first. It will be hard for England to lose now. Only chance Aus have got is if the rain stays away (which i doubt will happen) and they can get England all out cheaply in the second innings, for a score around 200-250.

Looks like the Ashes are comin home :)

Possibly the best post i have seen. Partly coause it makes me so happy. I feel like giving you rep. :D

Dont write off the Aussies this early mate. They will fight hard, cause the Ashes is as important to them as it is for you pom guys. Losing it will be a real slap in the face of all these guys. I hope the best team wins, and I mean win. No draws.

Great knock by Strauss and excellent bowling by Warne. :cheers

Yeah, shows the quality of Warne that, on a first day flat wicket, he can get 5 for. It was hardly spinning! I was dissappointed with a few members of the english crowd, Warne was having a joke and a laugh with them and a couple of the crowd thought it would be funny to throw things at him!  :mad

A few too many beers i reckon.

If Warne can get 5 wickets on the first day imagine what he will do in the 2nd inns. Also McGrath should be back to his best in the 2nd dig. Lee hit and miss and Tait will always chip in with a few wickets.

Aus batting is the key to where the Ashes will be going although if they rain predictions are right they will also be a key factor.

if Australia retai nthe ashes, they should be given to warne....cos the other 10 players haven't earned them..

Aussie's are a one man team at the moment..when Warne retires, i am not sure how they are gonna bowl teams out with their very average pace attack.
