Australia Tour Of India 2012/13

I believe they do play aus in 2014-15 sai, hosting the west indies inbetween that and the england series.

it's a harsh examination, with 5 of the next 6 series being played away in seaming conditions, but it should test and improve the newer players properly. harsh on jadeja/ohja/ashwin though as you feel that at least one of those three despite being in indias best XI aren't going to be playing much test cricket for the next two years.

Hey, I'm not SAI! :rolleyes

I think we could see Jadeja @ #6 or #7 abroad, but I don't know how effective that would be though, would much prefer an extra batsman at #6(Rahane/Manoj/Rohit) tbh.

Looks like me and Epic have a very similar kind of vocabulary and English writing skills!:D

I think it's the avatars both being batsmen playing shots and also I kinda know you both post in the india threads so I just had a guess (rather than spend 2 seconds checking) and went with it.

Man, for a guy who just admitted to having the vocabulary and the writing skills of a 16 year old, you seem real happy! :p

This should do then... :p

Because then we can make their win in India sound less convincing. :rolleyes

Ha, its not about making anybody win sounds less convincing/more convincing etc. Its all about putting it into proper perspective.

Australia have only won 1 series in India since 1969/70. And India have only lost 7 series in India, since India have been a force at home since 1970. So as dominant the 4-0 win is - IND @ home has always been able to beat/draw with the strongest of teams - much less this AUS team which is one of the worst non-asian touring teams to India since the England team of 92/93.

It took the legendary AUS team 3 tries after losing in 98 & 2001 to win in India. That tells you everything.

ENG losing vs S Africa last summer simply proved their ranking system ascent to # 1 was faulty, given they were never better than S Africa. But they are clearly still the # 2 team in the world.

However given ENG poor record in Asia in all formats since the 1980s compared to australia, S Africa & windies, their win in India was a monumental moment in their history.

I could use that same argument and nullify England's win in India though, that this was the weakest Indian team since 1970 and just take it from there. :rolleyes

The point is every win and every loss matters, it's that bit of experience being thrown about, more so for a young and inexperienced side like ours, and there's confidence, which is a big part in sport.

Look here, I'm not asking you to kneel down and worship us as the best Test side in the world(you can if you want :p), but just try not to ruin this historic achievement(India has never 4-0'd anybody ever before) by crapping all over it.

Yea saying win vs IND vs one of the weakness IND teams @ home is a factual statement. I myself noted that after they won.

However given ENG appalling record all over ASIA since 1980, they win for ENG obviously is big for them. Especially considering how teams like AUS, S Africa & windies have done all over the sub-continent in all formats.

Confidence is key in sports. But again when AUS whitewashed IND in 2011/12 - i didn't (most erudite AUS fans also) didn't take as clear sign that AUS had turned the corner, or as clear guide to how they could do vs stronger S Africa or English teams.

It was noted how average the ageing IND top six were in bowler friendly conditions.

Two standout points from this series is this:

It was only before this series i was seeing a large portion of IND posters on this forum & other sites, past players slamming Ashwins bowling vs ENG who basically nullified him. Has he turned the corner that quickly or did he simply just take advantage of a average AUS batting line-up that is poor on turners?

IND always struggling for all-rounders. Many were unconvinced about Jadeja getting picked. Are you & IND fans now confident he can be a complete all-rounder @ 7 like Vinod Mankad, Shastri & Bapu Nadkarini was?. They still have big question marks over them.

Basically we have seen this move before with IND -their challenge will always be being more consistent in away from the sub-continent. Its remains a wait & see situation on how this post tendy era of players, handle that historical Achilles heel starting from the S Africa tour.

I've been saying for the last few years that India always look a much better side when they shift out the ageing deadwood for the young and hungry talents that can actually field.

Finally they seem to be doing so in the test format rather than just the shorter forms.
