Australia tour of India (Feb '17/Mar '17)

Right @aditya123. Virat Kohli has basically said Australia were cheating. He didn't use that word, but he did as well. So, Smith and Australia pre planned this if Kohli is to be believed.

Not the first time either.
Yeah he said ," I saw it twice when i was batting and told this to the umpires and reported to match refree".
So,this is clear cheat from the Aussies!
But boy what a press conference that was,he was on fire in that conference.
And what did he told about the youtube video? Watch it in YouTube and sonething like that?

He's replying to Ian Healy's 'I'm losing respect for Kohli' jibe.

Ian Healy famously was furious after being given out wrongly at the Centurion. I've always said Heals is the best WK I've ever seen, but he's an absolute turd at calling cricket matches and quite a hypocrite.

What's the justification over that? I don't know the rules? If so, he doesn't deserve to be the captain of his first class team, let alone the captain of a brilliant country like Australia.

I'm not fan of Steve Smith, and as far as 'Spirit of Cricket' Aussies generally, especially after the carry-on with the LBW Dar gave in Perth. I totally think, malicious or not, he should cop a visit to the match referee for this. Ignore of the Law/PC is no excuse.

I would say tho. I know from personal experience that players, club, representational, first class and international, on the whole do not know the laws of cricket. Players know how to play cricket and know the laws as it applies to normal play, but most of them no NFI of the actual laws. If knowledge of the laws/PCs were a prerequisite to captaining a team, there would be no captain's!

Like I said, no excuse. I would however caution assuming captain's do, or should, have intimate knowledge of the laws. Let the players play, let the umpires umpire and where they conflict (like with Smith LBW) umpires will quickly intervene, hopfully correctly!

yeah saw that on YouTube many times and now even the original uploader edited the title of the video after the press conference.

Great comeback by India 1-1

What an absolute joke!

If any of the teams from the sub-continent would have done this, the entire cricketing world would have gone telling us how we are cheats! How is this any different from ball tampering?

And you're talking from experience? I respect whatever cricket you've played but not international cricket! You're extremely naive if you believe the players don't know the 'rules' to play by. They probably would tell you the clause and the section number as well, if you ask me.

Let's just say Steve Smith, who's the captain of probably the most prestigious cricket team and it's history does not know the rules of engagement of something as critical as the DRS which might decide whether he's out or not, or Kohli is out or not. Let's just say he is not aware. Why did Peter Handscomb then suggest him to look up? Look up to the dressing room?

From Kohli's and S Smith's press conference, it's crystal clear that the Aussies had a pre-planned tactic that's against the rules of the game.

Steve Smith has himself said Handscomb asked him to look towards the dressing room. Now someone please tell me that the Australian team management wasn't aware of this rule? Hell, may be all of Australia wasn't aware of this rule?

This is a clear case of cheating and the Australian captain should be banned for the series if the 'spirit of cricket' means anything.

Mitch Marsh is a fraud !!

Gee, and people wonder why more members don't participate in these threads.

I was refraining from replying to this smart ass comment but now that we know details, may be you can properly participate in a discussion instead of letting us know your extremely important opinion about forum involvement?

A weaker performance than Hobart. That's the end of my interest in this series humiliating series loss. At least it's not 4-0 I guess.
First of all, series not yet lost.
Second point is, what's humiliating in this ? You beat us convincingly in first match, gave a proper fight in second match which none of the past teams did.

And Smith accept that he shouldn't have looked in the dressing room for drs!
Watchout for another brain fade moment in the video when he talked about Marsh decision of not to review.:lol

I'm positive this will be overlooked. He clearly said and I quote "I got hit on the pad and looked down to Petey [Handscomb] and he said look up there, so I turned around and it was a bit of a brain fade on my behalf. I shouldn't have done that.
"I was looking at our boys, so shouldn't have done that and it was a bit of a brain fade."

The part highlighted in bold makes it very clear that it was a ploy on the entire Aussie team's part to cheat. It's not a brain fade or something that he did in the heat of the moment. It's a completely planned thing.

One of the most satisfying wins in recent times! Not quite Kolkata 2001'ish, but the mind hankers back to that game for the similar emotions. In a series that India were expected to steamroll the Aussies into submission, Australia caused a huge upset in Pune and after Day 1 of this test match, they had one hand firmly on the BG trophy and their other hand had all but 1-2 fingers on it. To come back from that position and turn it upside down feels very very very special. Kudos to the superb fightback mounted by Chet and Jinx (Pujara and Rahane). Both of them battled inconsistent form (Rahane was battling poor form) to give India the confidence back and the mindset to go for the kill. We were all expecting India to collapse in the 3rd innings because India currently is a team where if you hurt them bad, it will take them a very long time to shrug off that pain. That was the reason behind all that pessimism that came from Indian fans. The golden era (the era of Sachin, Dravid, Saurav, Laxman) handled pain better and came back faster out of it. These current guys are relatively not as tough yet, most likely they will get there.

Feels way better. Now onto Ranchi. I should not be saying much here, but from here on in an ideal scenario, India SHOULD BE UNSTOPPABLE!! But I am not betting on it. But really really hope the pitch (the most controversial aspect, as always) is way better in Ranchi.
