Australia in New Zealand
New Zealand vs Australia
2nd ODI match
End of the match

Australia take wickets, but Kiwi's take the match :noway

Australia had a big task in front of them. With New Zealand quickly reaching the required total the Aussies needed quick wickets to find themselves trying to defend this total they posted.
But New Zealand had their man that kept them in the game. Ross Taylor was still battling on, with a tough task, as the Kiwi batting line-up had been exposed into the lower order. But to Taylor's credit, he battled on well and kept his country in this match.
His team mates however didn't. Wickets fell for the Aussies which is exactly what they needed to keep themselves in this contest. Michael Clarke, the part timer spinner was the first wicket to be taken in the last 4 overs. Grant Elliot was the batsmen that had to walk back to the pavillion after making a very hand 7 runs to the teams total. Elliot went after the spin, but miss timed the ball which landed in the safe hands of Nathan Bracken on the rope.

Australia take an important wicket, but was it with the time?

Elliotwicket-1.jpg

The Australian team celebrated the important wicket of Grant Elliot, but they still had their arch enemy at the crease, that being Ross Taylor. That's the player they need to take out, but with Taylor's ability, it's going to be a tough task.
Franklin was the next batsmen to the crease, but to the Aussies credit, they didn't allow Franklin to make any profit to the scoreboard, as Michael Clarke again, took his second wicket of the over. It was Nathan Bracken again that took the catch, and the small Australian crowd were going nuts. Maybe they can bowl the Kiwi's out, or even hold on for a draw? This is turning out to be a sensational finish, just like the first ODI match turned out to be. So Ross Taylor still at the crease, but now with 2 quick wickets taken, Australia now have the confidence and the momentum going.

Australia running hot! But still are in a tough position

Flynn was the next batsmen to the crease, and New Zealand were getting closer to this targeted total they needed to chase. Ross Taylor was still at the crease and proving to be the likely hero for the New Zealanders. And a hero he was. Nathan Bracken, who the ball followed throughout the evening had the chance to take a run out, and to take a third wicket for the Aussies in the space of 5 balls, but Bracken miss fielded and nearly conceeded a boundary. But if it wasn't for Bracken's back foot being placed onto the ground, then the Aussies would of been gone. But with the runs that Taylor and Flynn made during that time, the Kiwi's surpassed the Australian total, and won the tight contest. Another sensational finish to a match between these two sides, which takes the series to 1 all.

New Zealand take the chocolates

Ross Taylor is now the hero for the Kiwi's. 115 from the champion batsmen has given the Kiwi's the win over the Australians in the second ODI match. The series is now tied 1-1. A sensational finish to another exciting match between these two sides, and hopefully it'll prove to be another great contest the next time these 2 sides take battle, which won't be too long off time. Thanks for joining us here in Christchurch. And well done to the New Zealand team knocking off the Aussies. Take care.

great win for New Zealand there and it will be interesting to see what happens in the next matches between them.

Yeah, that was a good win by Kiwis in the end. Ross Taylor is a real champion of Kiwis. :) Keep up the great works. :clap

Australia in New Zealand
New Zealand vs Australia
2nd ODI match
Match Ceremony

Presentation ceremony

MarkNicholas-1.jpg
Hello Ladies and Gentlemen i am Mark Nicholas, and welcome to the Presentation to conclude this second One Day International between New Zealand and Australia, with New Zealand sneaking home with a 4 wicket victory. It was a great contest between the two sides, with the Australian's posting a good par total on this pitch, but with the works of Ross Taylor and Jesse Ryder up the top of the order, it was the New Zealanders who came away with a hard fought victory.
This now level's the ODI series to 1-1 with Australia winning the first match just 3 days ago. Now the team's will have a little break in between their next match, so that the players can rest up and have another crack down the track. It promises to be another good contest between these two sides, as the first two matches have been entertaining and great to watch. Now that's enough of me blaberring about the contest, let's get stuck into the Ceremony, and let's start with the loosing captain, Ricky Ponting. Welcome Ricky. :D

Ponting-3.jpg
Thanks Mark, little dissapointment in the loss, but we'll learn from this, and take it into account the next time we face these blokes in the next One Day match.

MarkNicholas-1.jpg
Now Rick, what was a positive to come out of the match for you blokes? For starters making a good high score and with still 4 wickets in hand must be a good thing, that was a good high score for this match but the Kiwi's just had the better of you throughout.

Ponting-3.jpg
It was defiently a par score for this pitch. I feel like we could of batted a little more agrresivly towards the end their. I mean it didn't help at the start, not to name names or anything, but myself and Simon Katich couldn't batted better, we we're just out played by the Kiwi bowlers. And Dave Hussey towards the end their, we bought him into this line-up towards the lower end because we know how big he can hit sometimes, but in the two matches his played he hasn't performed for us, so that might be something we'll look into coming into the next match.
But yeah there were some positives. Shaun Marsh played well again this afternoon backing up his first One Day match at Auckland. And keeper Brad Haddin down the order made an impressive 50 which was very handy towards the end of the innings.

MarkNicholas-1.jpg
Well thankyou Ricky, it was a good innings by Marsh, but it wasn't enough to get you over the line, but we say well done on the loss, and we look forward to seeing you here again in the coming fixture.
Let's now welcome the victorious and Kiwi captain, Daniel Vettori to the podium. Welcome Dan. Now mate, let's all talk about Ross Taylor. A magnificent ton here today, is he the best batsmen in your side at the moment?

Vettori.jpg
haha, well i'm pretty sure that was just answered with his ton. He was certainly our best batsmen this afternoon. He never lost his concerntration, exsepcially towards the end there where the Aussies got some quick wickets, and when Taylor was under pressure. But he kept his head and play some wonderful shots not just towards the end, but the whole way through his innings. It was a great display to watch, and he'll certainly be talking about this one for a long time let me tell you that now :p

But you know it wasn't just Ross that played his hand in the match today, Jesse Ryder was again superb at the top of the order, and kept us in touch with the loss of McCullum early again. I don't know what it is, either McCullum hates playing the Aussies, or the Aussies know how to get McCullum out quickly :p

MarkNicholas-1.jpg
Well it was a great display from Ross Taylor which won him the man of the match award, but due to injury, Ross can't join us here on stage as his in the rooms getting ice on his finger as Dan told me earlier. But that about raps up everything here in the second ODI contest. We hope you enjoyed our coverage, and we look forward to seeing you back here again. It's bye for now :banana2

Great win for the Kiwis and a much deserved one also. Great match presentation and a deserved MOTM in the form of Taylor as his century helped the Kiwis win the game and level the series.

Nice presentation mate..KIU

Series Statistics leaders

Runscorers.jpg

It's a very tight contest at the top of the leader board in the runs department. New Zealand have 3 of the top 5 run leaders which would give them full confidence heading into the 3rd One day match. Although it's Shaun Marsh of Australia that is leading all comers. The left handed batsmen has been in splendid form in the past 2 One Day matches. Marsh has played in both the matches and Innings for Australia, and has made a total of 133 runs for his country. 76 being his highest score so far this competition, but it is good to see Marsh making half centuries in both outings.

Ross Taylor is coming in at number 2, only after his wonderful display in the second One Day match, where Taylor made 115. The first and only century made by a player this series, he was in superb form just the other day. An average of 129.00 is looking great against Taylor's name right at this minute. He was in wonderful form on the weekend and will be looking to back it up again in the next outing against Australia.
Then next is Peter Fulton and Jesse Ryder both from New Zealand. Fulton at number 4 and Ryder opening the batting with Brendon McCullum have both been in good form for the Kiwi's. Fulton with his big hitting down the order, and with the composure and skill of Ryder. Ryder just hasn't had any luck with his opening partner Brendon McCullum for New Zealand to come out with a good start.

wickettakers.jpg

It's a bit more of a different story when it comes to the bowling department. A lot more lower wickets then runs, and this time it's the Australian's that have 3 of the top 5 wicket takers of the Series. Leading all comers is the Kiwi quick, James Franklin. 5 wickets he has taken in 2 matches. Franklin has bowled over 34 overs in this series so far, and taking 5 wickets is a reasonable return. 2 maidens throughout those overs is ok to his standards as well. He could certainly being doing better, but he'll take what he has done. His best was 3/105, which may look good because he took those 3 wickets, but in a way looks terrible with the 105 runs conceeded.

No Doubt, Nathan Bracken would be up their in the top wickets. He is sitting second at the moment equal with Michael Clarke the part timer from Australia. Bracken arguably the best One Day bowler in the world would always concern the New Zealand batsmen, but people don't think he has been in good form so far this series. Ponting told channel 9 that Bracken hadn't reached his peak, and is still a long way off from his best.
Michael Clarke has been a surprise packet in this series. Getting a lot of bowling time from Ricky Ponting which has been good for him and his confidence. Clarke has bowled 10 overs and taken 4 wickets, his best being 3/53.

great presentation roo. was having a look over the 1st match (which i totally missed), and realised that you didnt play a specialist wicket keeper, using marsh as keeper instead of haddin. loving the thread though mate. very very good.

yh great stuff mate. The presentation and the stats are of the highest quality so keep up the great work! :)

I have no idea why Marsh was the keeper when Haddin was in the side. I think they may have been the computers fault :p Thanks to Gamerkid for the presentation as it's basically copied from his Ashes story.

Thanks for the wonderful comments mate, always good to get some positive feedback from you.

Updates coming soon guys:happy

NZ bowling department should improve a heaps ... Fulton in top 5 list says just how inconsistent they are with the ball :p

Marsh and Bracken have both been in good form. Interesting stat is that Australia has two batsmen in the top 5 and three bowlers in the top 5. New Zealand have it the other way round.

Interesting to see the comparison in the series stats so far, with it being quite equal overall. You can see just how much New Zealand need to improve with the ball, as Fulton is second top wicket taker, but their batting department is going along fine.

Very nice graphics combined with some solid writing here, Roo.

Hello ladies and gentlemen and welcome to the third One Day match between New Zealand and Australia here in Auckland. A beautiful sunny day here in Auckland promises to be a perfect day for cricket. New Zealand and Australia are in this tight battle between each other which has seen them both win a match each to level this 5 game series, which makes this third contest the all important match of the series. Whoever get's the break here will have favouritism to win the series.

Australia won the first match, as it was a classy finish and a tight one. New Zealand then came back from the brinches in the second contest, with a well timed century by Ross Taylor to level back the series at 1-1. Now it's up to the players to take responsibility to get their country back in the lead in this Series by going one game ahead of their opponents.
So here we are in Auckland to determine this 3rd One Day match between these 2 sides and what a great game it promises to be. We are down here at ground level this afternoon and so let's take a look at the weather conditions that we are in for this afternoon and throughout the whole duration of this match, which will head into the evening session as well.

Weather-1.jpg

It's a beautiful sunny day here at the current time. Mid 20's and i expect it to stay like that consistantly throughout the afternoon session. Although towards the end of the match, when the evening kicks in the weather is expected to get much cooler, but that shouldn't affect the players in anyway. So all in all down here at ground level. The Crowd is starting to marshall their way into the stadium. It's a beautiful sunny day but not to hot out in the middle. So it's looking to be a perfect day to play cricket.

Let's now just head over here for a second and have a look at the pitch the players will be playing on this afternoon. A very bouncy pitch. Very hard surface so i'll be expecting more bounce as a quick bowler. It's very dry and i will expect the pitch to dry up later on in the innings when the pitch is starting to get worn out

good presentation mate a little hard to read the yellow but as you rightly say this could be the crucial game in the series, i actually quite fancy new zealand to win again. Looking forward to the next update already :)
