Story Australia vs England 5th Test (ICC 2006)

England should replace Giles with Panesar and also drop one of the quicks and play an extra batsman, Dalrymple might be a good choice because he is a solid batsman and his off spin could be handy on a 4th or 5th day pitch.

Day 3

Clarke knock puts Australia in good position

A wonderful 96 from Michael Clarke was the days main highlight as Australia pushed on with their 1st innings score , starting the day on 246-2 hoping to ease things along Hussey nicked one behind for 36 soon followed by Ponting falling lbw to Flintoff for 83 , Adam Gilchrist came and went for 6 and England were buzzing ,Michael Clarke looked solid though and England tried everything to remove him ,he soon reached 50 and was helped by Shane Watson who again put on a good batting performance ,Clarke fell on 96 lbw to Hoggard with the tail showing no resistance Watson was left carrying his bat on 50 .
Englands 2nd Innings started with a 139 run defesit hanging over them from the 1st innings , and Australia struck a might blow for the tourists in the 2nd over , with still no score on the board Strauss took a wild swipe outside off stump to a wide one only to help it along to Clarke who took a dolly , England 0-1 , Cook and Vaughan saw out the remainder of the day , England 50-1 at stumps.

Duncan Fletcher
" Really dissapointed to have come away with nothing in Adalaide ,again its individual errors that have let us down playing good at certain spells then our heads go down again. The lads are gutted they have lost so badly and now know we have to win the final 3 tests ,its a big ask but we will give it our best ".

John Buchanan
"Delighted to be going into the 3rd test 2-0 up , after our huge win at Brisbane we knew England would be smarting so to come away with another big win is great for our morale ,the lads were buzzing in the dressing room they know one more win wins back the ashes .
England played well in spells but once they lose a wicket we are able to keep the pressure on and take a few more in quick succession which you could see was denting their concentration and the crowd were exellent as well, a great knock by Micheal Clarke really gave us that extra which England couldn`t reply to ,then supberb line and length from Clark and Lee left me in no doubt over the result ."

Paul Collingwood is brought in to bolster the batting

round up
England make two changes with Panesar and Collingwood replacing Giles and Anderson ,coach Duncan Fletcher was under pressure from the media during and after the 2nd test to change things as England have to avoid defeat.
Australia on the other hand stick to the same X1 which has performed well in the first two tests .

Situation is like the real life one.. Hope England doesnt get white washed here .. atleast i like to see a Test win!

Some magic from KP ( in batting ) & Monty ( In bowling ) is needed :) Gud Luck to both the teams!

agree with you there suren, they need someone to perform to really high standard
