Australia vs England 3rd Test - Perth
Day 4
Australia near reclaiming the ashes
Australia need a further 58 runs on the final day of the 3rd tset at Perth to take the series and reclaim the ashes , England battled away but were always struggling to overcome the Australian`s huge 1st innings total , starting the day on 16-1 England knew a few early wickets could mean the end before day 5. A good solid start saw Vaughan & Cook go after McGrath & Lee , Ponting made a double change bringing in Watson & Clark and it immediatly payed dividends when Watson bowled a beauty at Cook who edged to Hayden at 1st slip for 29 ,Clark also struck a few overs later taking the scalp of captain Vaughan for 34 expertly caught by Michael Clarke at 3rd slip ,Clark then had Bell removed lbw for 5 and the alarm bells were ringing ,Pietersen played supberbly along with Flinoff and Collingwood , the trio all hitting knocks in the 40s but they needed someone to hit a big knock but the hosts stayed on top Read out for duck must be fearing for his place ,the tail except Harmison blown away ,England 255 ,leaving Australia needing 82 to win the ashes .
In the 30 minutes left of play there was drama as England came out fighting leaving Australia reeling on 24-2 , Hayden(8) and Langer(5) early casualties ,Ponting & Hussey will hope to see out the reaminging 58 tomorrow with ease.
