Australia vs England ODI Series - 7 matches - Sep 4 to Sep 20

Ponting coming into this series is such a waste, they've all but won, it'd be better to blood some players.

The only other player we can blood is Voges. The reason to play Ponting is to get some practice before the Champions trophy. Voges probably could come in for Hussey and Ponting in for Hopes.

Ferguson is god, get him in the test side asap.

White got a hundred? What a joke the English bowlers are eh?

Ponting may as well sit back and relax at home. But how crap is Clarke aye? Hes batting as if this ODI was in the early 90's. :what

After taking 3-0 lead, now Eng is in trouble, they hneed to win next one or the series is goen, winning 4 on trot is quite difficult, lets see how they play now, once again wickets feel for Eng at regular intervals, while this time, Aus middle order clicked...

White scored a century:eek:, I must be dreaming.

Looks like Hopes is the one that have to make way for Ponting.

Might as well cancel the rest of this series. No point for the teams to turn up and no point watching. Dire. Not only England's performances, but Australia's batting has been dull as sin. This series is why people are wanting to get rid of this format, and I agree with them after the first 3 games of this series, 40 overs is the way forward. Love the Pro40 competition domestically.

Why? Not trying to be an ass here or anything but these two teams are pretty bad, and two bad teams will generally showcase bad cricket. Of course when England get their selections right and Pietersen returns their one day cricket should improve, same could be said for Australia too.

Congrats to Cameron White too, his international career was probably on the line this series but he's been very consistant. Hopefully when Ponting comes back White doesn't get pushed to far back down the order.

White will probably move down to 5, our selectors have marked him down as the next Symonds. Ferguson at 6 and if Hussey is still wanted then he will be 7. Add Ponting and our lineup is almost complete. Just missing that blazing opener. Watson hasn't really delivered since his Scotland knock, Haddin is handy but not really a guy that can be destructive in the opening 10 overs consistently.

Marsh wasn't really a blazer either was he, kind of like Watson wasn't he. Warner's still a few years of I reckon so I'd stick with Watson and Haddin for now.

I would say Watson is quicker than Marsh when both are in full stride. I keep going back to Watson's knock against Scotland, that is what we need but he hasn't looked close to doing that again.

If he ever does he could make a real good opener. Hes got all the attributes you want from an opener in being aggressive, good against the short ball and decent enough technique apart from against the straight ball.

Shah can't be persisted with. He's played 63 games and has only one hundred, which isn't good enough from the top order, Ravi has yet to score a hundred and neither has Prior.

Joyce deserves another shot. He's scored nearly 1000 runs in OD cricket this season. Trott is a must, and I would bring Davies in for Prior (Sureshot won't agree ;)).

Rashid has to be included in the next game. I feel in modern ODI and Twenty20 cricket that two spinners are worth their wait in gold with teams now attaining bigger scores through the batting power-play. Plus as we've said, Rashid is a genuine all-rounder who contributes with bat and ball.

If Wright can't do the part then I would certainly choose Napier. He can bowl yorkers at 86mph and is a big hitter coming in at 7-8. I would certainly stick with Wright though since I feel that he's an all rounder and should bowl a lot more than he does now.

The order would look like this:

Strauss (c)
Davies (wk)
Joyce
Trott
Morgan
Rashid
Wright (can move up when needed)
Broad
Swann
Sidebottom
Anderson

My best Australian XI would be:

1.Watson
2.Haddin (WK)
3.Ponting (C)
4.White
5.Ferguson
6.Hussey
7.Hopes/?
8.Johnson
9.Lee
10.Hauritz
11.Nannes

Wouldn't be to bad would it, although having someone else at seven may be a better bet. Hopes isn't really needed if you have Watson bowling with pace again.

No Clarke? I know he's pretty slow but still he's the vice-captain.

Pretty slow. Over the last two years his strike-rate is an amazing 65. I know he wont be dropped but that's the team I'd go for.

At least, Clarke can deal with it. He fights through it and the rest of team bat around him. England batsmen just throw their wickets away in comparison!
