Bangladesh tour of England, May-July 2010

Nasser Hussain is interviewing Shafiul Islam. He bowled a slower ball in the last ball to dismiss Trott. He needs someone to translate the words.

Why not? He batted too slowly, put unnecessary pressure on himself and the tail at the death of the innings. Then, at the death of the innings failed to take responsibility, constantly feeding the strike to the number 9 and 10 batsmen, relying on them to hit the boundaries. All the batsmen are to blame, none of them batted well, but Trott used up so many overs and chasing 237 you should get home long before the final over. He batted better than the rest of the batsmen, but that's not saying much, the rest of them were pathetic, but Trott wasn't much better.

Why do all your post involve telling us something that we can all see or post a link and a section from a report from the news?

Seriously you never give your opinion merely quote from news sites.

How lucky Bangladesh, even Zimbabwe would have defended 237 against a 10 man England side.

Ridiculous celebrations, as if they've won their first ever game in cricket.

But is it possible to imagine this game without him?

Check the earlier comments. England should have finished the match earlier on. Also he should have protected the tail. For example he let Anderson play a lot of deliveries, while he shouldn't have done that.

Also check the amount of runs in England's batting powerplay. That's not enough.

I don't blame them. It doesn't happen too often that Bangladesh wins against one of the top 8 teams.

Yeah, you're right, I don't want him in the ODi side, I don't think he's good enough. The points I made about him a few weeks ago that were dismissed have all been proven here. He struggles to rotate the strike, doesn't score quickly enough off spin and doesn't appear to have many boundary options. Having Trott batting for England in the subcontinent against superior spin attacks to this one is a recipe for disaster. Owais Shah would be a far, far better option, as would Steven Davies.

You haven't even given the Bangladesh bowlers any credit. You just blaming Trott :facepalm. Although it is true Trott is not the greatest player of spin - he is not as bad as you have articulated before. Trott isn't a power-player. He is a bit like Michael Clarke in the way he plays. Given the circumstances today, Trott batted to the best of his ability regardless. Since if he had made ZERO, England would have lost much earlier.

In a perfect scenario if Trott is batting @ 3 in the ODI side. He won't necessarily have to bat in the last 10 overs in chase or setting a target where his non-big hitting ability will be exposed. He can & would be very effective batting within the first 40 overs.

Good to see you acknowledging Shah BTW. Both of them should be in the 2011 WC IMO.

Davies most likely will be in as well yes as back-up keeper to Kieswetter (although i wont rule out Priors chances of being back-up keeper). But i'm not sure how & why you are suggesting Daveis as better option than Trott?. They would have obvious different roles in the ODI team.

You would have to admit that Trott isn't guiding this well though....a very gettable run rate has increased dramatically now.

Your completely missing the point that the batsman (barring Trott, who might i add scored almost half the runs, yet you still are only lambasting him) were the ones who put the pressure on the tail, not Trott.

Stop being biassed and be realistic. We lost it due to rash shots from most of our batsmen.

Besides, we'll still thrash them in the last game, who cares?
