Bangladesh tour of England, May-July 2010

so shakib to miss the first test then? it's a pity don't know what will they do without him. Who will lead the side then?

Mushfiqur Rahim will lead in the absence of Shakib which is not good at all, he's just 21 I think.

Shakib is 22. Big difference :sarcasm

Rahim has more captaincy experience. He captained U-19 team. Shakib, Tamim, they were all in that team

Rahim captained under-19 team, Shakib's captained Bangladesh national team and Khulna Division, so who's got more experience? :sarcasm

Well Tamim's back against England Lions which is a good news.

Bangladesh 164/7.

They've not looking very good on this tour so far. Part of me keeps saying that they are going to get crushed in the test series but as soon as I think that I know its likely to come back to haunt me; so I'm holding back until the series starts in earnest.

Damn now we know the importance of Shakib in the team :( He and Tamim are probably the only test match quality players in our side.

I second that. Shakib is world class, no doubt about that. And that Bangladesh don't have too many good test cricketers, let alone bench strength, is going to pull them back big time. I wouldn't be surprised if England win both games within four days.

On top of that Razzak the thrower will be replacing him, he's not even ODI/T20 quality nowadays. I would have liked to see Enamul Haque Jnr instead.

Amongst all this, it looks like Jahurul Islam is slowly getting his way into the limelight. He got a pretty decent start in the first innings (scoring 21) and now he's batting on 53 with his last wicket partner Rubel Hossain. The partership seems to have carried on for 39 runs so far. Bangladeshis 160-9 at the moment, leading by 84.

I think bangladesh have been ok on this tour, better than expected anyway. I see them being routed in the tests though.

they'll do well to score over 250 in any innings, they might get lucky and cause a top order collapse or summit but even then englands tail is good enough.

I wouldn't be that shocked if Broad or Swann made their maiden test centuries here.

Broad's going to be rested apparently because they don't want him to play too much in an Ashes year. Finn is almost definetley going to be in the squad in his place if its true.

He made 150(+) on the 1st match

MacLovin added 1 Minutes and 23 Seconds later...

Btw what's the English squad? They announced yet?

They'll announce the squad of 12/13 for the 1st Test pretty soon, probably in the next few days I'd imagine.

Edit: Just seen that the squad will be announced on Sunday morning at 9:30. It's looking possible that Broad and Collingwood could be rested after busy winters. So I see us going with:

Strauss
Cook
Trott
Pietersen
Bell
Prior +
Bresnan
Swann
Anderson
Sidebottom
Finn

12th Man: Luke Wright

I'd guess that'll be the side we'll see; that's if Broady and Collingwood are rested anyway.
