Bangladesh tour of England, May-July 2010

More thought provoking insight from Zahid. ;)

I thought it was common knowledge that Strauss, Kieswetter and Trott were Saffa born, it's all people have been harping on about for the last couple of years. Constantly seen people bitching about England 'stealing' players from other countries.

Also, Zahid, 'South African Born', none of them are exclusively South African, all 4 have British parentage. Eoin Morgan's the only batsman in the England side with no British family ties.

Shahzad's and Bopara's parents could have been born in Pakistan and India. In your way of interpreting they are then a Pakistani and Indian.

Officially these two are British, because are born in Great Britain.

The mentioned top four of England (Strauss, Kieswetter, Trott and Pietersen) are officially South Africans because they were born in South Africa.

Rubel Hossain bowled a wide on a free hit. Next ball he is hit for four.

What a lovely shade of green that is. Almost bluish.

You're talking about the grass or about the Bangladeshi kit?

England should score a lot of runs if Strauss stays on.

I love the way the Bangladeshis are strutting around like they are on the brink of winning the Ashes! Good stuff! I don't think there is a team in the world with so much chatter!

I disagree, because I think Nationality is based on more than 1 factor. Being born somewhere shouldn't dictate what nationality you are, if that was the case then Andrew Symonds is English. That also means that Parentage alone shouldn't dictate what nationality you are, it's a mix of the two, as well as a couple of other factors. Strauss for example was born in South Africa but has English parentage and was brought up, educated and learnt his cricket in England, he is not South African. Pietersen on the other hand was born, educated and learnt his cricket in South Africa, but his Mother is English, so he was within his rights to move to England and consider himself English, which he now does. All these South African born players are within their rights to consider themselves English, the only one that either doesn't have English parentage, and wasn't brought up in England is Morgan.

kieswetter doesn't have english heritage, his mum was scottish.

mind you, out for a duck, perhaps not the best day to brag about that.

but anyway, mortaza, another maiden, kinda realising how vital he is to bangladesh. they're not in a position to lose players like him.

All right, enough of it. They're playing for England, so that's how it is.

England has slowed down with the runs scoring for some reason.

In my view i think a person has a special attachment to those people where he liveS around most off his life time so i don't think that i matters a lot that where you born.

And at the end of the day a cricketer should be pro because they pay you to play for them

True, but that doesn't seem to make too much of a difference as far as playing for England is concerned, as it entitles him to a British passport, so much like Gavin Hamilton and even further back, Douglas Jardine before him, that entitles him to play for England.

Again trott strike rate is just 67 guys what is he doing is one dayers i mean ok you had a bad day but still you are facing bangladesh man

Willing to let Trott off from scoring slowly if he accelerates as he goes on and ends up striking at around 100 by the end of the innings. If he makes a century at a good rate and bats through we'll be in a good position. Should be aiming for 280-300 from here I'd say, especially with the batting to come. Just hope Ravi gets in at 4.
