Commentary Thread

I think some problems with the cup games,

Date: 21/10/2007 at 4:30
Ground: HuntingTigers CG
The game is underway. We shall be joining our commentators shortly for ball-by-ball commentary.

Anyways, expecting a easy loss though :p

Our PC BT Shiled is going on, 1st match for me in this tournament :)

End of Over 28: 221-0, runrate=7.89
Dangasela 4-0-21-0
Dixon* 108 (86 balls)
Paki 108 (85 balls)

It seems Paki plays good on OP spot :happy

End of Over 1: 5-1, runrate=5.00
Alder 1-0-3-1
Mainey* 3 (4 balls)
Nicholls 0 (0 balls)
Last Wicket: Meyer c. Ludlam b. Alder 0 (FOW: 5/1)
0.6 W Alder to Meyer
What a catch by Ludlam. He seemed to fly there.

FF has Nicholls in early, I don't like that. It's a pity Meyer didn't get more runs either, but thats life I suppose.

End of Over 6: 42-1, runrate=7.00
Otto 3-0-24-0
Nicholls* 9 (10 balls)
Mainey 30 (25 balls)

Not liking how this is going. Another wicket desperately needed.

7.1 W Otto to Mainey
Goodness gracious! Mainey certainly won't want to see the replay of that shot, but I fear for his sake that we may be watching it on comedy sports TV shows for years to come. Totally bamboozled!

That's more like it :)

End of Over 20: 125-2, runrate=6.25
Dodd 5-0-30-0
Nicholls* 47 (48 balls)
Glody 41 (44 balls)

Still not liking the look of this. Ineterstingly, I'm playing Ludlam, batting at 11, to try and get his form up for England U19 games, and I might be relying on a last wicket partnership from him to win this.

27.4 W Stiles to Glody
Glody pushes at the ball on off stump, and the away swing has just clipped the edge! Basson took it safely, and that's out!

Stiles and Stone have strangled the scoring, and the pressure pays off :)

End of Over 28: 155-3, runrate=5.54
Stiles 4-0-14-1
Nicholls* 66 (72 balls)
Gore 2 (2 balls)

Just 30 runs in the last 8 overs.

28.4 W Stone to Gore
Pull shot straight into the hands of Dodd at square leg.

Good two overs there to get those wickets.

End of Over 33: 184-4, runrate=5.58
Stone 10-0-42-1
Nicholls* 90 (88 balls)
Spiller 4 (12 balls)
Last Wicket: Gore c. Dodd b. Stone 3 (FOW: 158/4)

Despite that, things are still looking to be on target, and the runs are coming freely each over, we just have to keep this up for another 10 overs.

39.1 3 Dodd to Nicholls
Good running, when you can run like that, you don't need to score boundaries.
And that's a century for Nicholls! Well played indeed Sir!

Really superb innings by Nicholls, single handedly setup this total so far, and is giving the bowlers something to defend.

End of Over 40: 220-4, runrate=5.50
Dodd 10-0-68-0
Spiller* 28 (41 balls)
Nicholls 102 (101 balls)
Last Wicket: Gore c. Dodd b. Stone 3 (FOW: 158/4)

Also thanks to Dodd, for bowling like a numpty and leaking runs to us :D. Spiller is batting a little too slowly, but with it being the last 10, I doubt he'll be around much longer.

To continue the commentary, I had a very slow start (20 off the first 7 overs) and also lost both openers, predictably, to Samuels. Since then, Gilroy and Stiles have been on fire, including this 2 over section:

End of Over 25: 157-2, runrate=6.28, reqrunrate=5.96 (305-8)
Pinnock 6-0-58-0
Gilroy* 69 (58 balls)
Stiles 73 (64 balls)

Last Wicket: Heath c. Meyer b. Samuel 10 (FOW: 19/2)

24.6 4 Pinnock to Stiles
That's trickling away to the boundary like a rolling stone. Four runs.
24.5 4 Pinnock to Stiles
Stiles comes down the wicket and plants Pinnock straight down the ground for four.
24.4 1 Pinnock to Gilroy
Pokes it away and there's a single to the total.
24.3 1 Pinnock to Stiles
Stroked into the covers, sweeper fielding.
24.2 4 Pinnock to Stiles
Shot! What a shot indeed. Any keen youngsters out there could do an awful lot worse than study that particular stroke.
24.1 . Pinnock to Stiles
Stiles slashes at it, but it goes through to the keeper.

End of Over 24: 143-2, runrate=5.96, reqrunrate=6.27 (305-8)
Barnard 2-0-27-0
Stiles* 60 (59 balls)
Gilroy 68 (57 balls)

Last Wicket: Heath c. Meyer b. Samuel 10 (FOW: 19/2)

23.6 6 Barnard to Gilroy
Gilroy has gone the tonk with that one - straight over long off for six.
23.5 6 Barnard to Gilroy
Gilroy whacked that all the way out of the ground!
23.4 1 Barnard to Stiles
Driven back to the bowler. Barnard collects it and flings it back at the stumps. No one was backing up and the batsmen steal an overthrow. Sloppy stuff.
23.3 6 Barnard to Stiles
Six. He freed his arms and lofted ball over the bowler's head for a massive six.
23.2 2 Barnard to Stiles
Stiles deliberately opens the face and runs the ball fine down towards third man.
23.1 1 Barnard to Gilroy
Pushed into the vacant gully area.

It is now:

End of Over 31: 197-2, runrate=6.35, reqrunrate=5.74 (305-8)
Pinnock 9-0-83-0
Gilroy* 90 (77 balls)
Stiles 92 (81 balls)

Thought I would struggle to make this, but the way I'm going...

Can someone get the commentary file for my friendly against Ross XI just today, because it wasnt working all day

33.6 4 Bird to Stiles
Driven off the back foot for a glorious boundary.
And that's a century for Stiles! Well played indeed Sir!

I needed him (among others) to perform, and perform he has...

47.5 6 Samuel to Gilroy
A dreadful ball from Samuel and Gilroy whallops that one for a maximum.

Scores had been levelled the score before, 1 to win, but that doesn't bother Gilroy...

And that's the end of the match. Old Wulfs won by 6 wickets.
BFN Bombers 305-8
Old Wulfs 311-4

End of Over 48: 311-4, runrate=6.48
Samuel 8-0-38-3
Fieldwick* 2 (2 balls)
Gilroy 147 (121 balls)

I think Gilroy deserves MOTM, despite Nicholls' excellent innings.

Islam 1-0-7-0
Haishen* 84 (66 balls)
Holmshaw 57 (66 balls)

AshXI being put to the sword here by my openers. Cloudy and Overcast day, Green pitch. And he's fielded two spinners. That's costing him. I've got a 5-prong seam attack with two RMs, so they should get the job done.

26.4 4 Karthikeyan to Haishen
Nice use of the feet creates a half volley which races away back past Karthikeyan.
And that's a century for Haishen! Well played indeed Sir!

Morale Booster...

Opponent won the toss and elected to bat. This is the first FC game where I have pretty much gone with a 2nd string side with only a few first 11 starters.

End of Over 3 (Maiden). Diamonds in the Rough : 1-2, runrate=0.33
Thorn 2-1-1-1
Jaco* 0 (2 balls)
Weale 0 (2 balls)
Last Wicket: Ayton c. Stack b. Thorn 0 (FOW: 1/2)

Great start for my seamers today!

Oh and it gets better!

End of Over 6 (Maiden). Diamonds in the Rough : 3-3, runrate=0.50
Knight 3-2-1-2
Jaco* 1 (13 balls)
Aaron 0 (3 balls)
Last Wicket: Weale b. Knight 0 (FOW: 3/3)

3-3 and this is looking great!

8.3 . Thorn to Whitbread
Thorn gets it right on the mark, pinning the batsman down.
8.2 W Thorn to Wotton
What a take by Govender, right from in front of first slip!
8.1 W Thorn to Aaron
Took a risk and just threw the bat at it, but unluckily it went straight to Knight, who took the easiest catch in the world.

Nearly a hat trick for Thorn, Griffo!
End of Over 9 (Maiden). Diamonds in the Rough : 4-5, runrate=0.44
Thorn 5-3-2-3
Jaco* 1 (19 balls)
Whitbread 0 (4 balls)
Last Wicket: Wotton c. Govender b. Thorn 0 (FOW: 4/5)

Is this a Bot or something?

Thats the only time you'll get Wotton out :p and yes it is a bot

We can tell you that The Top Class Kids won the toss and elected to bat. The pitch is looking slow and low. Tough for everyone. Could be a low scoring match on this partially cloudy and windy day.

In for a tough day at the office

End of Over 12 (2 runs, 1b). The Top Class Kids: 31-0, runrate=2.58
Proudlock 6-1-18-0
Buchan* 13 (37 balls)
Mattheus 16 (36 balls)

Solid start, I would love for at least one of these guys to get 50

12.6 W Gordon to Mattheus
Fine edge from Mattheus and Tate takes at throat height whilst still on the up. Good reactions and brave keeping!

This next partnership is vital between (G)Ray Nicholls and Zat Buchan
