Does anyone else feel like every time it hurts their want to play the game?

I felt this way about DBC 14 after awhile. However that was mostly because I spent the majority of the time playing my career mode spinner and 90% of my wickets were batsmen holing out to mid-on, so it got pretty boring. Also I couldn't bat for shit and got very frustrated unless I turned the difficulty right down, but when I did that I could slog every ball which was also pretty boring.

I honestly think the best thing about 17 is the increased control over difficulty. If I ever feel like it's too easy/difficult to take wickets/score runs I can just make small tweaks until I get the balance between challenge/fun just right. And this is the main reason I'm enjoying it so much more than 14 despite the flaws.

I knew I am planting a wrong seed in BigAnt's mind
Phew! beat it wise man! The Majority is extremely happy with what BA is doing and we won't mind an iteration in 2-3 years. especially with so much improvements
And with cosmetic changes/updates, especially in a cricket game, is poor move for business. Please check how Codemasters faired when they decided to walk on the same path by releasing an "Improved" Ashes 2009 in 2010. Though it was not for PC but how well they did?
As for other sports games! Take Konami for example. PES 2017 review tells the whole story! Yet Konami gives a damn about it!

Not really. I, and I'm sure many other people would rather have waited another month or two after waiting 3 years for a game with less bugs.

And I agree, those can't be tested. But gameplay can be tested. Why didn't they see that the keeper can take catches where 4th slip? Etc

Maybe @BigAntStudios can publish a sticky on here to advise all those who are unsatisfied with their purchase which was made in good faith over 6 weeks ago the process to obtain a refund as they have failed in providing a satisfactory product?

Dude, this game is fun and challenging...period!!! go play Mario Bros :)

tbh DBC17 is a overkill in terms of features, once things are tied up to a tee the replay value of this will be unmatched. What BA have done is not just raise the bar for this iteration but for the next one as well.
Next one has to have all this and plus some compelling feature.

For me I acknowledge the new features and improvements but there so many 'but why' additions and removals. Like the new running system looks arcadeish and I feel the batting was incomplete and the strokes in general don't look as good as they were in DBC14. I wouldn't be against someone from Big Ant saying we did X because of Y for some of the mind boggling changes.

Also the stance is probably the most annoying part of the whole game, looks like an under 8 taking guard after his mom finished padding him up.

have you played after patch 3 ? most batting woes should be fixed. And the real indepth batting system prioritising footwork , conditions, delivery pace and angle etc is more evident now. DBC 14 cant even come close interms of balance between bat and ball of this game.

No sadly first 3 months of the year is cricket every day so I struggle for time. I've got some spare time now so I'm going to do a NZ vs ENG test and see how it goes.

cool enjoy the match mate :) by the time you get back the game should be tidied up a bit more with further patches. Its fantastic now, a lot of the overriding issues at launch, which hid the depth of the gameplay and balance, have been fixed and the core is really good, still fielding , AI decision making, online issues are there, once those get looked into the game would be perfect.

I don't know what's your point with the post but Codemasters didn't have a clue how cricket as a sport is played period. They wouldn't have made a half decent game even if they kept on trying all these years.

Irony that you have to mention Konami and PES 2017 tagging my post. I am a PES fanboy though FIFA sells more copies year in year out. I remember FIFA's career mode was more like upgrading the stadium capacity and game like run on a track, pass, run into a player, now time for opponent to run repeat. It took good 10-12 years to be where it is now. PES on the other hand had a better core of the game right from the beginning, but couldn't fight FIFA's financial power and the bells and whistles year after year..Phew, this is a cricket forum, but you brought out the devil inside me by mentioning PES..:facepalm

I think this is the game that had issues? If my memory serves me right it need patches to sort 'itself out' AC 2009, didn't think the 2010 version was a released onto the PC.

im finding now in patch 3 i have less control tbh

i get perfect timing perfect shot selection on what should be a straight drive yet i get a perfect cut shot for four. ive also been bowled twice playing back foot shots when im not even playing a back foot shot. it seems like its trying to force the game to play shots in to the regions i had trouble playing them in to last patch even though im not trying to hit to those regions.

Sadly I agree with this. The scoring areas are increased but the control is reduced. So often it feels the game is just playing the animatiom/shot and outcome it wants and the input is irrelevant.

Not for console. AC09 PC had a couple of WIP builds after release to improve some things.

Chief I must say there are a couple of things that I loved about AC09 and was one of the better cricket games...

1. The batting/timing arc for batsmen and the size of the arc varied depending on the quality of the batsman. A good batsman had a smaller arc and poor ones had a much bigger arc so the ball was difficult to place in the gap with them. Maybe one thing that could've been done was to not show the batting arc to the user so you couldn't find the gap easily.

2. Online gameplay. I spent hours upon hours playing online on AC09 till they took down the server and it was fun. Even during the days of not so fast internet connections the game was more than playable and you got lag if you played against opponents from other side of the world.
