England in Sri Lanka

I wasn't seriously having Tredwell in my test squad.
ODI's, you can think about it.
Swann is the leading off spinner in England, he's the obvious pick if Rashid isn't.

i wouldn't play rashid yet. i'd give him a few more years to develop. i'd also rather play my best bowlers and not have 2 spinners just because it's sri lanka and it wil turn. what's the point of taking an average unproven cricketer at test level who you know won't rip through a side and will get you 1,2 wickets max.

Do Australia? And don't include MacGill or Cullen.

Tredwell would be a big no-no for the Tests, averages 40 in First Class, if memory serves. It would be between Keedy, Rashid and Swann, probably in that order.

MacGill and Cullen are better then decent.

MacGill is the best leg spinner playing Int cricket behind Kumble

I cant wait to watch Chamara Silva again, he was class in the World Cup.

England name ODI squad.

Captain: Paul Collingwood (Durham) James Anderson (Lancashire), Ian Bell (Warwickshire), Ravi Bopara (Essex), Stuart Broad (Leicestershire), Alastair Cook (Essex), Andrew Flintoff (Lancashire), Dimitri Mascarenhas (Hampshire), Monty Panesar (Northamptonshire), Kevin Pietersen (Hampshire), Matthew Prior (Sussex), Owais Shah (Middlesex), Ryan Sidebottom (Nottinghamshire), Graeme Swann (Nottinghamshire), Luke Wright (Sussex)

Good to see Swann included, he deserves his chance and hopefully he will be selected in the test squad.

What would be your ODi team in Sri Lanka?

We've had a good series, but who drops out? Do we play two spinners?

I'd be tempted to stick with what worked for us in the last series. Cook in for Wright though. Ravi should play, can we fit him in?

I hope Panesar is just there as back up. I'd rather see Blackwell than Swann to be honest but good luck to him. I'm glad they didn't call up Rashid though, he's nowhere near ready.

Swann \o/

Prior
Wright
Bell
Pietersen
Collingwood
Bopara
Flintoff (If fit, if not it's a different story)
Dimi
Swann
Broad
Anderson.

Ftw.

That's an amazingly strong batting line-up. Anderson's the only rabbit really.

Knowing England though they'll line up like this;

Cook
Prior
Bell
Pietersen
Collingwood
Shah
Flintoff
Bopara
Broad
Swann
Anderson

Or..if we we're in an attacking mood.

Prior
Swann
Wright
Pietersen
Bell
Collingwood
Shah
Flintoff

Maybe?
If we are drunk on pinch hitters we can put Pietersen up to 4 and tell him to swing, with Flintoff at 5, and if it all works it will be a miracle..

Still a strong team though.

I thought Ravi was supposed to miss these games? At least the first few, it's only like 3 weeks away.

Nah, he is on target to be fit for these games, just the Twenty/20 World Cup he's missing.

And it's only a thumb, if your thumbs 50% you can probably play to be honest.
The pain might wear off by then!

expecting Sri Lanka to take the ODI series 4-1 and to win the test series, Murali on those pitches is too much for anyone, plus Jayawardene and Sangakkara are in top form at the moment.
