England in Sri Lanka

Dilshan just gloved one to Prior (who caught it brilliantly) but Harper gave him not out, it was so obvious too, the gloves were about 3/4 inches away from the body.

Could cost us the series tbh.

If England don't win, they'll move down to 5 in the test rankings and will have lost 3 out of the last 4 test series. They need to win!

I think that is making matters sound far worse than they are, 2 of those series have been Australia away and Sri Lanka away, two of the hardest tours going. And the India defeat was against a brilliant batting line up who we just couldn't penetrate. It's not ideal, but I don't think it's as bad as the stats suggest.

We'll be back up in no time, just give Moores sometime to get things right, the summer against the Saffas is massive imo. This series we haen't stood a chance because they've got the best batsmen and bowler in the world and there has been some shocking umpiring. 2 wickets at the end of tea give us a slight chance if our batsmen really fire.

Up and coming fast bowler who'll probably be the best bowler in England (Or is predicted to be) for years to come, would've been allot better for him to get a positive outlook on Test Cricket for debut and would've been allot better for his development especially after his already had some damaging in his development (Twenty20 World Cup). Gave him no chance to make a statement to World Cricket. Would've been ALLOT better to debut him in the English summer.

Should've played Anderson, would've made no difference in the match and you still could've saved Broad's debut to a better date.

Broad's a tough cookie he won't go sulking around.Anderson was amazingly bad in the first test and didn't deserve another go.Broad will take it as a positive that he's made his debut in both forms and has actually got a go on flat tracks against quality batsmen in Columbo. How would the players have known the pitch would have turned out to be a road?It could have been a bouncy track for all they know.

HIghly doubt Dilshan not being given out would cost the series for england. Tbh England would have to play out of their skins to beat SL in galle it was always going to be an uphill battle and I thought thats why vaughan shouldve batted. Yes there was going to be early movement but its the sub continent. Better to bat first and force the pace yourself in a game you MUST win. And they face the prospect of facing murali last on day 4 and 5 if the game goes that long. SL deserve to climb up the rankings especially with the recent drawn series last year in ENG and NZ.

England will need to win in New Zealand if England fail to win this series and then as Joe pointed out the series against South Africa will be key as well.

You won't have any trouble there ;)

Vaas is proving to be a pain in the butt by the looks of things. Sticking arund in a partnership with Jaywardene.

england have been toothless today, i admit jayawardene has been fantastic but i really havnt been impressed with englands bowling. KP's been getting more turn than monty as well a few times which was a little strange

I don't know why everyone is expecting us to win. To win in the subcontinent is very, very hard.

Jayawardene is batting really well. This is going to be a certain draw as I see no reason for Sri Lanka to declare.

if they can they will look for 450+ i think, but even if england bowl the lankans out early there are more than plenty of runs on the board.

Hopefully with the bad weather, and the massively long time Sri Lanka batted for, England can pull off a draw. They're going to need to turn up for the bat once they have to follow on though.
