England Tour Of Bangladesh 2010

I'm sure England bowled Cook and Carberry merely to accelerate a declaration and give (some of) their batsmen a second knock, it's in the captain's interest to bat a second time and don't be surprised if KP isn't promoted to three.

What does make me laugh is that Trott didn't bowl in either innings, surely has to be in the XI for the 1st Test and yet didn't bowl a single over.

KP is Eng's wildcard. For his wicket Ban took 3 SLA in the 14 men squad

MacLovin added 17 Minutes and 27 Seconds later...

well obviously Cook did this so he can bat. Or he was just screwing around, because Bresnan is batting ATM

because he's a part-timer they might be looking to retain an element of surprise. With guys like him sometimes it's the change up and the fact the batsman hasn't really any idea what to expect that breaks the partnership.

Why give bangladesh, and guys like raqibul and siddique who will be playing in the tests the benefit of a look?

Wow, that must have been pretty impressive hitting. Cook with 111 runs off his 5 overs. Buffet bowling no doubt.

i would also prefer to give the bowl to trott as sometimes part timers can cause serious damage

I still remembers Yuvraj's 4/6 against australia

The English bowlers had gotten 140 overs worth out of the match up to that point, the batsmen just 58. It makes sense, don't pretend it doesn't.

Bizzare match, great hitting by Dolar and the Shuvagoto guy. Lol @ Cook and Carberry.

Ashrafool :doh:doh:doh

Weird warm up game that.

I was speaking to my grandfather just now & he was reliving when he saw England play two off-spinners in a test in the 60s with Ray Illingworth & David Allen/Fred Titmus.

If Swann & Tredwell do indeed play in the 1st test, it shows the startling drop in quality of spin bowling that has produced in the last 50 years.

You'll have to explain that statement, War. It doesn't make any sense. Swann is currently one of the most productive spinners in world cricket and there aren't many in better form than him, as for Tredwell, he is a very talented cricketer, he just gets ignored because of his county and the level they are at.

Swann indeed may be one of the most productive spinners in the world right now & for England's sake lets hope he maintains that standard for a while yet. But compared to the quality England off-spinners of the past that my gramps was talking about like Illingworth, Allen & Titmus. Plus from the 1950s in the great Jim Laker & Roy Tattersal, I think its fair to say Swanneh is just a level below them.

Tredwell is ok, nothing special, just a county journeyman player. He is one of of those players who just looks like he might be useful certain circumstances in international cricket.

The overall point is the the potential Swann/Tredwell combination is a drop in quality to past England off-spin bowlers.

how can you justify that until they have played a few international matches together, if they dont perform fair enough but you have to give new things a chance and i for one hope they prove you wrong.
Also for me swann is easily the best off spinner in world cricket right now and i believe he is talented enough to sustain it for a few years yet.

I defaintely believe Swann can maintain his current standards for a few years yet for sure. But i dont see Tredwell becoming test quality at all. He may be useful its little old Bangladesh here, but i cant see him having much of an affect againts the other 7 stronger test nations & i would hope England dont pick Tredwell again for a test tour after this one.
