Tendulkar Falls Just Before Lunch:

Sachin Tendulkar has failed to make an innings of 50 after two tries now, in fact, over the two inings he hasnt even reached 50 runs which must be something new to him. This time he was out to a silly shot, poor selection just before Lunch. Harmison was brought on and it was a just a loosener, outswinging just a touch but wide and not really threatening, Tendulkar went for the big shot over the top of the covers, he didnt catch it as well as he wanted but it would have gone for six has Vaughan not been under it, it was a pressure catch because the ball was in the air for a long, long time and it was a big partnership to break. England need to get another after lunch and they will be well on thier way to aa win here in the first test. Ghambir is close to making his century and it has been at a very good pace, he has faced about 100 balls for his 81* and is looking in good touch, he just might be the one to save the match for India.

Lunch Cant Come Quick Enough For India As Harmison Gets Another:

After seeing Sachin Tendulkar dismissed to a silly shot and after getting so close to his century it is a massive wonder to everyone in Kolkata why Ghambir has gifted his wicket away to Steve Harmison so close to Lunch! Credit where credit's due, Harmison has bowled a very hostile spell and has been rewarded, he got Ghambir with a cracking yorker that started outside leg stump and swung right into middle. Ghambir caused his own downfal by going after it, he completely missed the ball, missed the chance of a century and missed the Hero of India award by a mile. England will be on a real high now as that was just what they needed, if these two men hadnt have fallen before lunch the India could have been well on thier way to sealing a draw but i really cant see it heppening now, Shaun Udal really troubled the new batsman in the last over and is looking dangerous and Harmison id going in for the kill, India look down and out now.

Lunch Day 4:

Three wickets for England in a session that India played well in but gave the edge to Engalnd right at the very end, dissapointing to see by thier perspective but just the tonic for England who must have thought that India were getting away, Dravid and Laxman must now try and bat out the session together and not expose the lower order to the likes of a fresh Andrew Flintoff and a hungry Ashely Giles, it is imperative that India only lose 1 wicket, if that, in this next session or they could be bowled out before the end of play.

England On The Rampage! Another Wicket Falls:

India just cant contain England here in the first test, they have been too good for them all round, all match. The spinners have been superior, the seamers have been superior, the fielding has been superior and the batting has been superior. Shaun Udal takes his tally to six for the match with a classic off spinners delivery, not through the gate but round the outside, the ball held up in the rough just enough to allow VVS Laxman through his shot before the ball ripped back into the top of off stump which was knocked back in the process, nothing Laxman could do to a fine ball really, he did well to get anywhere near it, there was a lot of turn and it kept a bit low on him. He is dismissed for 3 just after lunch and will be really kickinh himself, just as we were saying that he and his captian needed a good partnership he gets out! Yuvraj Singh and Dhoni the only real batsmen to come then judging on the first innings, this could turn out to be a very heavy innings defeat to England!

The match is surely in the bag now! Brilliant story thread I'm really enjoying it.

Great Thread. India heading for an embarassing defeat here lets see if they continue fighting in a lost cause and not just hand England an even more convincing victory.
Nonetheless brilliant play by you and England!

Spin Twins On Song As Giles Chips In:

Ashley Giles has produced a little bit of magic to swing the game further towards England as another Indian wicket falls. Thsi time Yuvraj Singh was the man to go, he was made to look a fool by Gilo and had hit off stump knocked back in a similair fashion to Laxman's but with a different ball. Giles had been spinning the ball well and a special ball witha lot of rip really troubles Yuvraj and a close LBW shout was turned down, next ball Giles gave him a flat one that was a bit quicker and went straight on, he played inside the line to the ball that he though would come back in to him and completely missed the ball. The England team were delighted for the left arm spinner who really deserves all he gets. England should really win the match from here and with just one more partnership to break before they're into the tail they could have it won by Tea!

Tea Day 4:

India can beathe a sigh of relief that they havent lost another wicket before Tea on Day 4 but they have lost too many to think of saving the match now. All they can concentrate on at the minute is damage limitation, it is going to be by an innings but by an innings and how many is the question. Both players have really gone about thier business sensibly and will both feel that they have the capabilities to salvage the match for India but realism must come to the forefront, they cannot possibly last a day and a session against this England attack. We will be back in a little while with more live test cricket from Kolkata.

Dravid Forges A 50:

Rahul Dravid has provided India with a glimmer of hope after creating a masterfull half century from over 100 balls, a patient knock that required a lot of balls that he would normally have had a go at being left. His maturity really came through as he picked each ball on its merits, it it was wide he would drive it, if ti was too wide he would leave it instead of going after it, some controlled strokeplay has seen him through to this far, the last thing he needs to do is throw it all away and get out now after making a prmosising start, another session of batting for India needs to be seen through without any wickets, everytime we have said this though India have lost a wicket... could the curse strike again???.
