Wow! Great over by Jimmy, 3 top class batsman in the space of an over.

We've bowled well to restrict them to this total so far, let's hope the tail doesn't wag now :D

Punter Power!!

Day 2 Tea Update...

Three more for Harmison
Well England have struck just after the lunch break picking up three Australian wickets in the space of just six runs. And the man for them has been Steve Harmison, who has now picked up a five wicket haul.

Harmison mixed up his deliveries well and thats what did the trick. The bouncer he bowled to dismiss Stuart Clark was absolutely brilliant.

Ponting takes control to take Australia to 257
With wickets falling around him Ricky Ponting knew he would have to take most of the strike. And thats exactly what he did. He however continued to play aggressive, and hit two towering sixes. And much to England's frustation, Glen McGrath gave him excellent support.

Finally it was James Anderson who got the breakthrough when he had Glen McGrath caught behind. Australia bowled out for 257, a lead of 72 over England.

McGrath dismisses Cook again
The pidgeon has done it again for Australia. After England started off positively in their second innings, Glen McGrath struck with the wicket of Alastair Cook.

The Essex batsman was a bit unlucky though as it was the low bounce that beat him rather than McGrath's bowling. But the Aussies will take it, no matter how it comes.

So at Tea on Day 2
England 47-1 after 12 Overs
Australia 257 all out after 80.5 Overs
England 185 all out after 51 Overs
(England trail by 25 runs)

This is going to be close.. England might have tried differnt like sending Jones at no3 as Jo can stay in one end while runs flowing in other end! Vaughan,KP,Strauss & Colly need to play a strong role here!

Once again, an opener gets a good start, but fails to capitalize on it.

Good bowling from England to make sure they have a chaseable target and one they can get a sizeable lead from.

england need to get a hundred lead with only 1 or 2 wickets down, grt batting by punter

Day 2 Stumps Update...

England lose Vaughan and Strauss
England have lost two wickets pretty quickly after the tea interval as Australia strengthened their hold on the game.

The first to fall was the England captain Michael Vaughan for just seven. Playing a backfoot defensive, Vaughan was beaten by the low bounce.
pic1kp3.jpg

Then opener Andrew Strauss who had played so well till then was beaten comprehensively by a dead straight 97mph Brett Lee delivery that rattled the stumps.

Pietersen and Collingwood try to rescue the innings
England were in a spot of bother at 72-3 but since then Kevin Pietersen and Paul Collingwood have looked solid at the middle in their attempt to take the team out of danger.

pic3fs1.jpg

The Aussies have fresh memories of Kevin Pietersen's match winning knock in the last test match at Perth and will want to get rid off him as soon as possible.

Pietersen stumped!!!
Just when England were putting up a useful partnership, a rather unnecessary decision from Kevin Pietersen to charge down the pitch to Shane Warne has cost him his wicket and even more importantly dented England's chances in this match.

Collingwood departs as well
And it became from good to bad to worse for England in the matter of a few overs when Paul Collingwood spooned a simple catch to Brett Lee off the bowling of Nathan Bracken. This too just before the close of the day's play. The home side will be sensing victory now although both Flintoff and Jones are more than capable to knock them over with the bat.

So at Stumps on Day 2
England 116-5 after 42 Overs
Australia 257 all out after 80.5 Overs
England 185 all out after 51 Overs
(England lead by 44 runs)

England needs a heroic knock from Flintoff.. otherwise, it wud be easy for Aussies!

Silly shot by KP given the match situation. I can really see the Aussies wrapping up the Ashes here. 1 wicket for each of the Aussie bowlers. To be honest England lost it in the first innings, there was no way Australia should have got from 201-9 to 257. Great presentation.

Aussies are on top but England will have to set a target of 250 to save this match . Nice presentation mate.

Day 3 Lunch Update...

Bracken double strike
England hopes of staging a comeback with their last recognised pair suffered an early ending today when Nathan Bracken dismissed Geraint Jones for just 12.

pic6th5.jpg

Bracken then got the wicket of Hoggard as well. England at this stage were 144-7 just 72 runs ahead.

Harmison and Monty dont last too long
England's two tailenders Steve Harmison and Monty Panesar havent been able to stay at the middle for long and were dismissed by Glen McGrath and Stuart Clark respectively.

Freddie departs after valiant effort
Andrew Flintoff has given his team some hope after taking England to a respectable second innings score of 223. Despite wickets falling around him, Freddie continued playing his shots and was well supported in the end by eleventh man James Anderson as the last wicket pair put up 52 runs.

pic10cu0.jpg

Freddie innings was brought to an end by the spin wizard that is Shane Warne.

pic9lk0.jpg

Nathan Bracken was the pick of the Australian bowlers with figures of 3-28 from 14 overs. But as you can see everyone contributed with the ball.

Freddie's innings of 79 was the only highlight for England and it has given England a good chance of winning this game and levelling the series. But for that they'll have to bowl as well as they did in the second innings of the last test match at Perth. The Aussies will be more careful this time however, so we are in for a cracking end to this game.

So at Lunch on Day 3
England 223 all out after 66 Overs
Australia 257 all out after 80.5 Overs
England 185 all out after 51 Overs
(Australia need 152 runs to win)

Aussies are comfortably making this time! Tough job ahead for English bowlers!

That right and believe that last partnership was annoying especially since Ponting went bonkers with the bat hitting anything and everything. But I did get back at them with my own Freddie-Jimmy partnership.

That was my target as well but I had already lost too many wickets and after Jones was dismissed, even the faint hopes were dashed. But Freddie's knock has given England a good chance.

Yes but Freddie's innings has given England hope. I will now have to bowl well.
