Good start by Langer . England should now think of getting wickets or else they will see a huge lead building up quickly.

ah mate just like the real game... One of the openers departs and other is having a good knock that happens in recent games! & also Monty picking those wickets!

Still long batting to come from Aussies especially from Mr.Cricket! Its going to be tough for Vaughan now to manage!

Day 2 begins

Day 2 begins...

The Weather
Pretty much same as yesterday, probably a bit hotter. But once again nothing for the movement of the ball.

The Pitch
Has lost some of its hardness and stiffness but still has more than enough bounce and pace for the bowlers. However as we saw yesterday, the batsman were able to use the pace and bounce to their advantange and it was only the slower bowlers (Clarke, Warne and Monty) who did well on this wicket yesterday. I think the faster bowlers need to vary their pace and length to confuse the batsmen.

The Match
We saw a total of 381 runs scored on the first day and a total of 12 wickets falling. The Aussies resume their first innings at 136-2, just 109 runs behind and with their captain Ricky Ponting in and looking in good touch.

Matthew Hoggard has got the ball and he will bowling to Michael Hussey.

Aussies close in on England

Day 2 Lunch Update...

Ponting, Clarke depart after a good start for the home side
The Australian captain just missed out on a fifty when he was caught behind by Geraint Jones off James Anderson for 49. Really unlucky for a player who was looking so good till then.

Ponting's replacement at the middle, Michael Clarke dint last long before getting caught and bowled by England's Turbanator, Monty Panesar. Great response by the left arm spinner as he jumped almost quarter length of the pitch to get to the ball.

Hussey and Hodge take Australia closer to England's 1st innings score
Since the dismissal of Ponting and Clarke, Australian have moved closer to England's 245 with Michael Hussey playing a key role on 43 unbeaten heading into Lunch. Brad Hodge has supported him well.

Both batsmen who started the day doing well. Ponting was dismissed for 49, but Hussey is still there on 43. For England Panesar picked up another wicket to take his innings tally to 3, while James Anderson opened his account of the innings with the wicket of Ricky Ponting.

So at Lunch on Day 2
Australia 216-4 from 61 Overs
England 245 all out from 56.4 Overs
(Australia trail by 29 runs)

Aussies will have a huge lead i guess with Hussey at the crease! Also impressive Monty, only England bowler who seems to be threatening! Monty needs to pick quick wickets to keep England in track!

Just trailing by 29 runs now Aussies look to get a big lead now .Ponting misses his 50 sadly.

are you using some sort of patch cos Langer 50 off 47 very impressive for the comp

Hodge and Hussey both need to combine and help Australia gain a big lead.

Expecting a good finish to England's bowling here.

Good story, really well done.

Australia take lead

Day 2 Tea Update...

Hodge, Hussey take Aussies past England
A fantastic partnership between Michael Hussey and Brad Hodge took the Australians past England's 1st innings score of 245. Both players have looked in great touch and havent been troubled at all by the England bowlers to be honest.

Infact the partnership was broken by a run out, and that too an unnecessary one. Brad Hodge goes for the second run and is caught short of his ground.

Hussey however carried on scoring runs and soon got to the three figure mark. His knock was of the topmost quality and was absolutely splendid to watch. What a player!

Monty spins Gilchrist out
A cracking delivery from England's new spin king left Adam Gilchrist and everyone else stunned. The ball pitched outside the line of offstump beat Gilchrist's bat as he was playing a forward defensive, turned in sharply and crashed into the stumps. What a fantastic delivery.

Hussey's brilliant innings comes to an end
Michael Hussey finally fell to a rising Steve Harmison delivery which he edged to the wicketkeeper Geraint Jones. A brilliant knock hence came to an end, and boy werent England pleased that it was over.

At tea, Australia had scored 326-7, and with only the tailenders remaining, you would expect England to wrap it up soon.

Highlight of the session was the partnership between Hussey and Hodge with the former going on to score the first century of the match. Monty Panesar's dismissal of Adam Gilchrist sparked an England comeback although the home side have already got a decent lead of 81 runs.
