Thing is I really have a greater chance of picking up a wicket with him.

Day 2 Stumps Update...

Australia bowled out for 364 after lower-order offer some resistance

McGrath strikes early for Australia, picks up wicket at a crucial stage
England had to bat a few overs before the end of the second's day play, something that is always difficult and nerve-racking for the batsmen. And the Aussies struck early when McGrath rattled the stumps of Alastair Cook. Matthew Hoggard was sent in as the nightwatchman.

The Aussies hence head into day three very much on top in this game.

Vaughan expects better batting performance

Vaughan hopes of an improved showing with the bat

England captain Michael Vaughan has asked for his team to put up a good total in the second innings in order to stand a chance win the third Ashes test against Australia.

"We have to ensure that we do not make the same mistakes we did in the first innings. There were three of us who got off to good starts but werent able to convert them into a big score. Also the middle and lower order suffered a collapse and the score that we posted was simply not enough," said Vaughan.

England suffered a big blow towards the end of the second day's play when Glen McGrath dismissed Alastair Cook for a duck.

England lose Cook early in the second innings

"Its a very tricky and difficult period for the batsmen the last 10-15 minutes of play, especially if you just come in to bat then. The bowling side always fancy picking up a wicket which gives them the momentum heading into the next day and that is exactly what the Aussies have got now."

"But we still have nine wickets in hand and if we bat to our true potential I dont see why we cant post a good target in the second innings. There is plenty of time left in this test match, hence we do not need to rush or hurry matters," added Vaughan.

The visitors still trail Australia's 1st innings total of 364 by 111 runs.

good 5 wicket hold for Monty! england in pressure now... hope Vaughan, KP, Strauss, Bell all strike together if england needs to stay safe!

Monty the man . Just trailling by 111 runs England can get a big lead here. This is a real professional story mate :cheers Keep it up.

England lose two wickets

Day 3 Lunch Update...

McGrath gets rid of the nightwatchman
Glen McGrath dismissed England's nightwatchman, Matthew Hoggard for 9. The Yorkshireman was caught at forward short leg by Michael Clarke as he tried to fend off a pitched up delivery from McGrath.

Strauss and Bell ease off the pressure
England recovered from the loss of two early wickets thanks to a crucial and much needed partnership between Andrew Strauss and Ian Bell. Strauss played a glorious cover drive off Brett Lee which was treat for the eyes. Ian Bell scored a greater share of the runs in the partnership.

Bell departs before the lunch interval
Just when things were beginning to look good for the visitors, the home side struck a blow by picking up the wicket of Ian Bell.

Bell was looking good till then and had actually outscored Andrew Strauss in their partnership. But his decision to go after Stuart Clark when there was no real reason to cost him dear as he only found the safe hands of Matty Hayden Deep Mid On.

Gritty 50 by Strauss
Just before the lunch break, England's Andrew Strauss reached his half century. It has been a patient and well planned knock so far but he knows if England are to stand any chance of getting a result in this game he will have to convert it to a big score.

England head into lunch at par with Australia's score. But they have already lost three wickets. Strauss is looking good at 56 unbeaten and is accompanied by the captain Michael Vaughan who is batting on 16. For the Aussies its been Glen McGrath who picked up two wickets including that of Cook yesterday, and Stuart Clark had Ian Bell out caught during this session.

Look at those ******* Aussies. They are laughing at the batsman. Great sportsmanship.
They are not laughing at the batsman, they are merely celebrating the wicket.
