Pietersen shines after Strauss, Vaughan depart

Day 3 Tea Update...

Strauss departs early after Lunch
England lost their opener Andrew Strauss, who looking in such good form, soon after the lunch break, when the left hander was clean bowled by a dead straight 97mph delivery from who else but Brett Lee.

Shane Warne picks up the wicket of the England captain
Michael Vaughan was on the verge of scoring half centuries in both innings of the test match, but some smart thinking from the spin legend Shane Warne saw the England captain out stumped just seven runs short of the 50 run mark.

The Kevin Pietersen show
Kevin Pietersen will be looking to succeed where the likes of Strauss, Vaughan and Bell have failed, that is to convert his good start to a big score. However uptil he has shown a perfect blend of aggression and composure, scoring some fine shots all over the park on his way to another test fifty. The Aussies will know all to well how dangerous this man can be and will be looking to get his wicket as soon as possible after the tea interval.

So KP heads to tea unbeaten on 62, making him the joint top scorer of the innings along with Strauss. He is accompanied by Paul Collingwood who is not out on 13 and will be looking to get a good score himself as failing to do so might cost him his place in the side especially if Andrew Flintoff is fit for the next test.

For the Aussies, Brett Lee and Shane Warne both opened their accounts in this session, leaving the hero of the first innings, Michael Clarke as the only bowler without a wicket yet. Clarke has also received a lot of treatment from the England batsmen, especially Kevin Pietersen.

So at Tea on Day 3
England 235-5 from 62 Overs
Australia 364 all out from 112 Overs
England 245 all out from 56.4 Overs
(England lead by 116 runs)

Thats bad abt Vaughan's dismissal... he shdn't have done that in this situation! as i guessed, KP is fighting.... really pity him to handle so much pressures ;) Com'on Kp!

Great update, let's hope KP can convert this score to a big 100.

Great story love it :hpraise

KP dominates Aussies

Day 3 Stumps Update...

Pietersen and Collingwood build solid partnership
A 135 run partnership between Paul Collingwood and Kevin Pietersen has taken England closer and closer towards a defendable score. Both batsmen have targetted Michael Clarke, who for some reason was kept in the attack by Ricky Ponting.

Another run-out...this time for England
We saw the run out of Brad Hodge in the first innings of Australia at a time when things were going so well between himself and Michael Hussey. Well once again a big partnership between Collingwood and Pietersen is broken by a run out for the former and once again it can be said that it was totally unnecessary.

Paul Collingwood was easily caught short of his mark when Adam Gilchrist dislodged the bails after picking up a beautiful throw from Matthew Hayden.

Pietersen hits out
Despite losing Collingwood, Kevin Pietersen has continued his assault and has not spared any of the Australian bowlers. Michael Clarke has suffered the most but Ricky Ponting still continued with him.

Since his hundred he has stepped up his strike rate to close to a run a ball.

Lee dismisses Jones just before close
Australia have struck just before stumps with the speedster Brett Lee rattling the stumps of Geraint Jones. Jones decided not to play a shot but some late swing saw the ball come back in and click his off stump.

So with that late wicket of Geraint Jones the Aussies will have something to be feel good about since they have got into the England tail. But they still have to deal with master blaster Kevin Pietersen who went crazy in that final session.

So at Stumps on Day 3
England 399-7 from 91 Overs
Australia 364 all out from 112 Overs
England 245 all out from 56.4 Overs
(England lead by 280 runs)

KP getting close to 200 . Good lead for England get the lead near 400 and then bowl them out in one and half day .

400 is what I have in mind, but with three wickets in hand and tailenders already in, its gonna be tough. Harmison almost got himself out leg before wicket before the close of play.
