Chairman of Selectors
Michael Vaughan will make his return to International cricket in the third Ashes test against Australia.
The home side are 2-0 up in the series and a win away from reclaiming the Ashes urn they lost in 2005.
Current captain Andrew Flintoff will miss the third test due to a shoulder injury he suffered in training. And the England and Wales Cricket Board have named the returning Michael Vaughan as captain for the remaining three test matches. Andrew Strauss will continue as vice-captain.
Speaking to the press, Vaughan had this to say:
On his team's chances-I am looking forward to playing for and captaining England again. Its been a rather long and at times frustating wait but I am glad that its all over now and I can do what I like doing best - playing cricket.
On Flintoff's absence-We have a difficult task, no doubt, but we will do all we can to hold on to the Ashes. We have a good blend of youth and experience, and all of us are eager to perform well for England.
View my previous stories:Its a big blow for us because he offers us an option with both bat and ball. Besides he is a true matchwinner and played a crucial role in the 2005 Ashes win. But his absence also allows some of the other players to try and impress the selectors.
