pakistan are up a certain creek without the aid of any flotation devises. england will cruise to victory

It appears like that while watching the replay. The CPU basically has this tendency to play the leg flick to a number of deliveries, including those which are pitched outside the off stump.

Some relief...

Younis Khan and Shahid Afridi stabilise matters
After being reduced to 12-3, Younis Khan (6 not out) and Shahid Afridi(19 not out) have provide some respite, scoring a few boundaries and releasing some of the pressure. But Pakistan are still in a very troublesome position at 32-3, and another wicket could effectively end their hopes of a win.

England in the meantime have introduced Ashley Giles and Andrew Flintoff into the bowling attack.

Younis Khan GONE

Younis Khan departs
Pakistan have lost another wicket, Younis Khan, out for 10. He failed to pick up a slower ball from Andrew Flintoff and hit it straight to Ian Bell at extra cover.

Shahid Afridi survives

England almost had another!
Shahid Afridi should consider himself very lucky to be there, after just managing to avoid Marcus Trescothick at first slip, having managed to top edge a short pitched delivery from Andrew Flintoff.

Pakistan are struggling at 45-4, and losing Afridi now would be a complete disaster for them.

England on the other hand are pressing hard for another wicket.

Matthew Hoggard makes late appearance

Hoggard is brought into the attack
Matthew Hoggard, who generally opens the bowling for England, has been brought into the attack much later today, and as the third change.

England are already in a commanding position in the game, having picked up four wickets.

Instant success for Hoggard

Hoggard strikes immediately
Matthew Hoggard has struck in his very first over dismissing Shahid Afridi.
Afridi was probably trying to cover drive a well pitched delivery from Hoggard, but lobbed it straight to Ian Bell at extra cover.

This is a big blow for Pakistan since Afridi was the only batsmen who was offering some resistance to the English bowlers.

Hoggard on a hattrick

Hoggard picks up two in two
Kamran Akmal was dismissed for a golden duck by Matthew Hoggard, who made in two in two, and in his very first over as well.

Pakistan are being ripped apart by the England bowling attack, and now face the danger of having to follow on.

Salman Butt better be strapping up his pads again! England are in complete command!

Giles joins the party

Pakistan lose Razzaq, face follow on danger
Abdul Razzaq is the latest Pakistani wicket to fall, after he mistimed a flighted delivery from Ashley Giles, giving Michael Vaughan a comfortable catch at cover.

Pakistan have now lost 7 wickets with just 62 runs on the board, and needing another 46 runs just to avoid the follow-on.

Troubling times for the home side, as the visitors have taken full command of this game.
