Giles OUT

Another bites the dust
England have lost their seventh wicket, as Ashley Giles has been caught by Danish Kaneria off Rana Naved-ul-Hasan. Giles dint connect well to a over pitched delivery from Rana and Kaneria made no mistake with the catch.

Rana gets his first wicket of the innings, as England lose two wickets in quick succession.

A lot now depends on Pietersen. Can he take his team to 350? Can the tail support him?

England FOW 261-7

Kaneria dismisses Hoggard

Hoggard falls to Kaneria
Matthew Hoggard's resistance was not allowed to last long by Danish Kaneria, after the England player edged the ball into the hands of a diving Taufeeq Umar at forward short leg.

Hoggard, who is quite capable of scoring runs down the order, and frustating the opposition bowlers, did manage to pad and defend quite a few deliveries prior to his dismissal.

With this Kaneria, who has hardly been used in this innings so far, picks up his first wicket. Hoggard did play his part in a crucial 39 run partnership with Kevin Pietersen.

England FOW 300-8

Harmison out first ball

Kaneria spins out Harmison
Steve Harmison became the third England player in this innings to be dismissed off the first ball. You would have probably thought it was an action replay of the Hoggard dismissal, but it is another wicket down for England. Kaneria cleaning up the tail, and doing it well.

Steve Harmison c Taufeeq Umar b Danish Kaneria 0(1)

Danish Kaneria is now on a hat-trick.

England bowled out for 307

Pietersen remains unbeaten on 130 as England are bowled out for 307

Rana picked up the final wicket when he had Anderson caught by Younis Khan at Short Mid On, there by bringing the England innings to a close with the score at 307. Considering the nature of the wicket, that isnt too big a total, and Pakistan surely will be happy with that. England will have to bowl really well know.

A fine innings from Kevin Pietersen though, who remains unbeaten on 130. The England star proved his worth once again, playing a crucial innings, to bring his team back into the game. The visitors were 60-4 at one stage.

End of Innings Stats

England's first innings got off to the worst possible start losing four early wickets, and that to on a very good batting wicket. The Pakistani pace bowlers had a great start, with Mohammad Sami impressing the most. But then a 132 run partnership between England captain Michael Vaughan and Kevin Pietersen brought the visitors back into the game. After Vaughan was dismissed for 83, Pietersen took control and smashed a brilliant century. Unfortunately for him he ran out of partners, and was left stranded on 130 not out.

Mohammad Sami was the best bowler for Pakistan finishing with figures of 4-88. Rana and Kaneria both picked up two wickets each.

Pietersen and Vaughan both played crucial innings there, and we can have a look at their individual spiders to see where they scored their runs. Predominantly leg-side for both players, as you can see, and this was mainly due to the tight offside field Inzamam-ul-Haq maintained throughout the innings.

well played by K.P he certainly got eng to a good total in the end. sami bowled brilliant (for once) now pakistan need there batsmen to get in there and get some runs on the board! Afridi to smash a 100 :D

Thats a pretty decent total for England!

Lets hope Afridi smashes a 100 and Pakistan take a handsome lead in this match!

England can thank KP for his great knock. Without that it would have been a sad innings for them. This should now become a very interesting test!
