Vaughan OUT

Sami strikes again to deny Vaughan a century

t115fi.jpg

Mohammad Sami produces a brilliant inswinging delivery that picks up the inside edge of Vaughan's bat and castles onto the stumps. Vaughan, hence, dismissed just 17 runs short of his century.

This is a big blow for England, as it looked like Vaughan and Pietersen were bringing their team back into the game, but with this wicket Pakistan now have strengthened their hold on the match.

Nevertheless, this was a fine innings from the England captain, and a good partnership of 132 runs along with Pietersen, to give his team some chance.

England FOW 192-5
Michael Vaughan b Mohammad Sami 83(158)

The next batsman in is the underpressure Geraint Jones.

Go Pakistan, dont let England think there the best after the ashes :D

Jones shows attacking intent as England cross 200

fd55yw.jpg

Geraint Jones is in no mood to waste time, and has already hit two fours in his innings of 15 from just 25 balls. The first of those was a cracking cut shot through the gap between cover-point and cover, and sent the ball racing to the fence. The second was another nice looking pull shot which reached the boundary line with ease. Inzamam-ul-Haq's attacking field is currently not of much use, but you can always get a wicket when the batsman is going for his shots.

Tea @ Day ONE
England 221-5
Kevin Pietersen 77*(121)
Geraint Jones 15*(25)

Kevin Pietersen is looking in great touch, and has made his way to 77 from just 121 deliveries, hitting 2 sixes and 4 fours. But he must be careful now and make sure he gets his hundred, and that England gets to atleast 325. Geraint Jones has looked really aggressive so far, and has gone after the Pakistani bowlers, hitting two fours already.

We are now getting the perfect picture of the nature of this wicket, and the England batsmen who got out early today morning, will be kicking themselves for not making use of it.

Pakistan will know that another wicket will expose England's tail though Giles and Hoggard are well capable of scoring runs and frustating the opposition bowlers.

Yay, your updating again, good knock under pressure vaughanie

kp to make a ton here i feel. i like the graphics there m_vaughan. especially the rolled edges in the jones image

KP hits ton

Pietersen completes century
Ace England batsman Kevin Pietersen has scored a magnificent hundred in the first innings of the first test match against Pakistan. His innings included seven 4s and two huge 6s, as he made full use of a good batting track. Pietersen was earlier involved in a 132 run partnership with captain Vaughan(83 out).

This has been a crucial knock from the Hampshire player to bring England back into the game, after they were initially reduced to 60-4.

Geraint Jones meanwhile has moved on to 22 from 56 deliveries. England currently are 256-5.

Good knock which might just save England. If he gets 150 and Jones 50 England will be in the driving seat.

Hope the rest of the batsmen will add enough support after this nice recovery. A lot to do still...

wondeful comeback by england. well done to both kp and vaughan

Amazing knock by KP there, great story thread you got going on Sid, 100th post

Exciting knock by KP. England should not breathe safe till they reach 350 atleast. Pakistan bat real hard at home.

Jones gone!

Jones becomes Sami's fourth victim
Geraint Jones, who was looking in good touch, will be kicking himself for getting out to a really poor shot. Mohammad Sami's delivery wide outside the offstump was unnecessarily attacked by Jones, and mishit straight to Abdul Razzaq at third man.

With this, Sami has now picked up four of the six England wickets that have fallen.

England FOW 256-6
Geraint Jones c Abdul Razzak b Mohammad Sami 22(58)

Mohammad Sami 4-61

Lovely stuff here, England should hope for 300 which would be good considering the start they had!
