(created by Treva) India v England , Live from Jaipur
David Gower: Hello and welcome all our viewers around the world to The Third Man's Chat . From today onwards it will be really interesting to watch the ICC Champions Trophy as the qualifying rounds are completed and SriLanka and West Indies have qualified in Group B and Group A respectively.Today its the start of the group stages starting with the big one from Group A as England take on host India. It will be a real tough match as both the teams are evenly matched and also both the teams are not in their greatest of forms. Michael Holding and Nasser Hussain are there in the studio with me . Well Michael a big one today and England also playing what do you think who has the greater chances to win.
M.Holding: Yes todays match is really a big one and its the start of the group stages and really now the Champions Trohpy really begins . Group A consists of India, England,Australia and West Indies. England will have to win this one as Australia are difficult to beat . But beating India in India is the toughest thing to do but England has done this before and also England are with full strength as Flintoff back and will also bowl in this match.
N.Hussain:Todays game is a real fighter for both the teams. India have struggled in the DFL cup and most for their players are out of form . England also has the same type of conditions but they have some key players who are performing well. Also the pitch is the same i think which was played for the Bangladesh v West Indies match where Bangladesh showed that chasing is easy on this track . Both the teams will go with full strength and should give their 100% in this match .
David Gower: Thank You Gentlemen .Well as we promised our viewers Sky Sports are with a joint production with Sony Max for this Champions Trophy . So we will take u straight away to the Extra Innings studio with beautiful and gorgeous Mandira Bedi along with the cricketing expert with his inimitable humorous style and good cricketing knowledge Navjot Singh Sidhu .
Mandira Bedi : Thank You David . Welcome to Extra Innings where you are going to enjoy in-depth analysis of the Champions Trophy with all the action and excitement with expert analysis for out great cricketing expert Navjot Singh Sidhu. Today we are here for the opener of the group stages and we have got a tough match with England take on host India. Well Sidhuji what do you think which team is likely to win todays match .
N.Sidhu :Certainly India are the favourites as they are playing on their home ground. England had a good time in their home ground they also won the Ashes this year and India are going through a rough patch as they are losing more than they are winning accrding to the statistics shown to us.....but don't go with the statistics because statistics are like bikinis? what they reveal is suggestive, what they hide is essential!. Its One Day cricket and its Champions Trophy and India are playing on their home ground so definately they have greater chance to win this match . We have a special guest for today's match and he is my best friend to ...so please welcome G.Boycott.
G.Boycott:Thanks Navjot ....well if you will ask me who's going to win this one then I will go with England . They have good quality players and also they are in form too . Pieterson will the dangerous batsman and watch out as Flintoff is back to bowling . Only thing which is a big concern to England is that Tendulkar is in good form and Indian bowling is good now as they have M.Patel who has pace. Also Panesar will prove very handy on this spinning tracks.
N.Sidhu :Well Geoffrey if England have Monty Panesar then India has Harbhajan - The sardar from Jalandhar and he spins the ball more than Panesar and also has a doosra to bowl with and ofcourse more experience than Panesar . Today we are going to see the the genius of Tendulkar.he is in total command and now see how he plays in the Champions Trophy.
Mandira Bedi :Ian Botham is ready with the pitch report so lets take you live down on the pitch with Ian Botham.
Ian Botham: Thanks Mandira . The stadium is houseful today and lots of India fans here roaring and waiting for the match to get on the way . This is the same pitch which was used for the Bangladesh v West Indies match just its worked on nicely and made more flat. The pitch is hard , flat and is batsman friendly . Lots of runs to be scored on this track . Doesn't matter if you are batting first or bowling first as batting will be easier througout the match . Fast bowlers will get pace and ball will come nicely on the bat . Team batting first will have to post a big score here. Surely there is turn on this track . Back to you Mandira.
Mandira Bedi :Ian Botham with the pitch report well Navjot what do you think what will the team should do after winning the toss.
N.Sidhu :The pitch is as dead as a dodo.Runs will be scored on this track for sure and spin will come in play so it will be wise to go on with two spinners for this match .
Mandira Bedi :Thanks Navjot . We will take a short break here on Extra Innings when we come back we will take you live for the toss ........Stay Tuned
M.Atherton : Thank You Mandira ......The crowd is in action they are all waiting to get the match on it way so are the two captains R.Dravid and A.Flintoff. R.Dravid tosses the coin .....heads is the call from Flintoff and it comes down as tails.....India have won the toss ( crowd started roaring after India won the toss) ...Well Rahul congrajulations on winning the toss whats your decision now.
R.Dravid :We will bowl first. This is a good batting track and will remain the same throughout the match wont be effected too much ..but last game here Bangladesh chased well and we are also good in chasing targets so thats why we are bolwing first and hope that our fast bowlers get quick wickets early on.
M.Atherton :And what about your team playing with 4 bowlers or 5 bowlers ?
R.Dravid :We are playing with 5 bowlers we got the pace of Pathan , Munaf and Agarkar and then the spin of Harbhajan and Powar..
M.Atherton :And will you experiment with the number 3 position in this match ?
R.Dravid :It really depends on the score if there is a big score for us to chase then we will send a good batsman at nunber 3 or else we will get with a pinch hitter there .
M.Atherton : Well Freddie lost the toss disappointed with that ?
A.Flintoff :No its a good track to bat on and really batting 1st or 2nd doesn't really matter on this track just we will have to bat well with the openers giveing a good start as Strauss and Bell will open the batting ..
M.Atherton :What about your side ?
A.Flintoff : We have got a well balanced side with J.Lewis and Harmison to share the new ball and then Mahmood and myself will be the next two bowlers and then we have 2 spinners in our side M.Panesar and J.Dalrymple and also we have backup bowler P.Collingwood. So we have got a good batting as well as bowling combination today . .
M.Atherton :Well good luck for the match Freddie .
A.Flintoff :Thank You.
M.Atherton: Back to you Mandira.
Mandira Bedi :Well the news from the center is that India have won the toss and elected to field first.Lets take a look at the teams.
The Teams
We will take a short break here on Third Man's Chat when we come back Navjot Singh Sidhu and G.Boycott will take you live with their commentry for the 1st ball of the match .
The crowd started cheering up India as they walked on the field, surely a housefull ground as India is playing . England were looking confident the openers A.Strauss and I.Bell walked on the field . A.Strauss was taking strike while Bell was on the non-strikers end . I.Pathan was ready with the new ball and everthing was set for the 1st ball of the match . Pathan started his run-up and the crowd was right behind him and bowled a beautiful outswinger to A.Strauss and he left that alone . Pathan bowled some beautiful outswingers to Strauss and he gave away just 2 runs in his 1st over.
M.Patel shared the new ball with Pathan and Bell was straight away off the mark with a flick shot on the leg side for a single . Next ball he bowled a beautiful outswinger to Staruss and he went for a backfoot drive and nicked it to the keeper ....Indians were confident about the nick and there was huge appealed for caught behind from Dhoni, slip fielders and the bowler . S.Bucknor took his time and finally raised his finger and Indians saw Strauss going back to the pavilion . It was tough decision to make but we will still confirm that with snickometer in few minutes.
N.Sidhu :Ohh Indians have got the first England wicket and that was a great ball by Munaf Patel and Dhoni took a simple catch .Indian are are on top but Flintoff is coming to the crease and Indians should keep it tight now .
G.Boycott:That was not at all a good shot from Strauss . He was on the backfoot and the ball was moving away from him and playing a backfoot drive on the offside to a fast ball is always risky and it surely results in a wicket when you are not moving your feet . Munaf deserved the wicket .
it takes time to post 3rd Man's Chat and now Extra Innings is also included in it ...but toss doesn't take too much time ...just that colouring text takes a bit of time ...but i concentrate more on the presentation to get the end result perfect .
