Feb 27 - India v England

And btw , had England won this , would this have been the most successful run chase in WC history ?? No other runchase strikes my mind now .

That isn't the first time this year that Anderson has almost got smacked for a century. Seems to be very prone to conceding alot of runs. Very impressive by the English to tie that match, they have shown nothing in the lead up to this match to suggest they would get close to 338.

One good thing that did come out of this match though was that this world cup has no clear favorites. Its a tossup between all the good teams so far.

India was being touted as an unstoppable force but not anymore.

yes, but it was lack of intent in the bowling/fielding that was crap. dhoni should be appealing there, he was limp as captain today, fielders should have been going for those chances, the only reason they were dropped is because they were half hearted efforts.

india do have a team good enough to win, the bowling is not great but the batting is good enough to make up for it providing the field contributes. They're not good enough to simply show up for half the game and win. (first 40 overs of batting and last 10 overs of bowling)

Ya, that's what I'm saying. The fielding, captaincy, and intelligence were all crap today. Im saying the bowlers bowled much better than the stats show, but the fielders ruined it.

But at the end of the day they didn't take the simple catches so they didn't deserve the wickets and the fact that they were easy catches makes the chances even more un-deserved. And India weren't unlucky they just bowled poorly and didn't take easy chances. So India had chances to catch strauss but they didn't, there was no luck involved in that.

Its the same when an edge go's for four were 1st slip would normally be, the bowler defeated the batsmen by getting an edge but the fielder wasn't there so he doesn't deserve the wicket and it's tough on the bowler, just the same as a dropped catch, if the fielder doesn't catch the ball the team doesn't deserve the wicket. And if Dhoni didn't appeal why should India get the wicket? Appealing is part of getting the wicket and Dhoni failed to do so.

And I wasn't talking about the LBW or edge, I just made the point about the dropped catches. Stop blaming India not winning the match on decisions not going their way.

The fielders didn't take simple catches, so the bowlers should be blamed? OK. Cause that makes sense.

I don't get why you keep saying the fielders and Dhoni were crap. Ive already agreed with you on that. Im defending the bowlers, not the side as a whole. You can talk about how they didn't deserve the wicket, but even Dale Steyn's figures would be ████ if he has to get class batsmen like Bell and Strauss out THREE times before they left the crease.

I've never said India deserved to win this match. Ever. Have no idea where you get that notion from. Saying the bowlers deserved better doesn't mean I said India deserved to win.

Can't believe the fact Mirpur has 2 QF games while India as a whole has only 1 in Motera . India playing NZL in Premadasa , Colombo should they top the group and NZL finish fourth is no cakewalk for India after what happened there 12 months before . Styris beat India by 6 runs while Ross edged them by 1 run :p

India gets the right to choose where they want to play. So does Srl and Ban should they reach the QFs.

In case of India playing SRL, India gets the rights to choose and in case of SRL playing BAN, SRL gets the right to choose the location. This is cause of the pre-seedings done prior to the World Cup.

And India can absolutely win the WC with this bowling. There's no 2007 Australia out there. Everyone's got glaring holes.

You have lost it.

Wow , never thought it to be this way round , so does that mean finishing 1st is as good as finishing 4th ?? Or is it just the venues that can be altered ??

The QF's will be held the way they were supposed to be, except for the fact that the venues would be different.
India and Sri Lanka are likely to get through Round one which means they will get a chance to choose their venues, not the opponents.

No. I'm just not overreacting.

The bowling needs to improve. BD was a one-off match, but the English encounter should have opened our eyes. If not, expect similar treatment to the bowlers against Ireland. As a fan, yes, its hard to digest !
