FOOTBALL Football Manager Discussion

Update on City save: things going great still, top of the table and only lost one league game. Still in FA Cup and have Lyon to play still in champions league. Had a tough run of fixtures though with Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs all in the space of a month (during december time as well so short time between games).

Balotelli out for pretty much whole season, he was thriving in my system as well. Went all out in the jan transfer window. Got rid of the deadwood (Clint Dempsey!) and made three major signings. Pastore and Pato both for 40mil, well worth it though. Then Sneijder announced he wanted to leave Inter and was transfer listed for a cut price, and I couldn't let that chance go so I snapped him up for 15mil!

Oops. Applied for the Lyon job more in hope than anything and was sacked by Stoke :p. Time to find someone else.

Leeds have gone and done it again. tweaking hate the bastards. Dominate all game and they score an undeserved equaliser inside the last 10 mins.

In November with Real, Board happy with me and has granted me 40.5M$ extra transfer budget, which can follow with more too. Need a leftback, on the tail of Patrice Evra/Roberto Carlos/Joan Capdevilla. Top in league with 25 points, Barca 20 points.

League was routine. Never looked like losing it, and ending up winning by 8 points. Tevez broke the record for most goals in a season with 35! He scored almost half of our goals though. Silva finished top assistant with 15. Tevez won Footballer of the year.

Got knocked out FA Cup in 6th round by Spurs. First game was 0-0 but we completely dominated and wasted chances, they won replay 1-0 in a pretty drab game.

In first knockout round of champions league I beat Lyon pretty routinely. Then got Inter in the semis. Went 2-0 in the first 10 minutes, and then shut up shop for 170 minutes and got through to the semis. Drew Liverpool in the semis and it was pretty easy tbh. First leg I won 3-1 and in the 2nd leg drew 2-2 and booked my place in final.

Madrid beat Milan in semis 5-2 on aggregate, and I knew they were the better team. They took the lead early on with Benzema, and then a double blow when Micah Richards was sent off for a second yellow. Madrid completely dominated the whole game. But out of nowhere, Casillas makes a complete flaff of a clearance and the ball falls to Tevez, who scores from an open goal! Madrid continued to dominate though and I thought it was inevitable they would eventually.

Despite down to 10 men, I stuck with 4-2-3 and brought on Adebayor and Johnson for Balotelli and Silva. In the 87th minute, Coentrao crosses the ball in and Johnson heads it in the back of the net!!! Won 2-1 in a dramatic game, totally undeservedly. Does it get any better than that?

Erm...noone :spy

Think I might branch out to another league now. Benitez is on the verge of getting sacked at Inter so I reckon I'll apply.

the inter job was dead easy when I got it in season 4. benitez left ages ago, weger took over and resigned.

Loads of money and bar the defence by far the best squad in the league.

Was set on Inter but just had a look at the Serie A table, and Inter haven't qualified for Champions League. Put me off quite a bit.

There is nothing better than to win a game late in the match especially when your team was outplayed. Congrats on the achievement. :thumbs

After a dismal Euro 2012, Capello called time on his managerial career, and I applied and got the job. My heart wasn't really in City so I quit instead of juggling both teams.

Mourinho replaced me at City, and one of the coaches got promoted at Madrid. England job started with with a sold win then a 7-0 thrashing of Malta (Rooney scored 4). That was then followed by two goalless draws.

Liverpool sacked Hodgson as they were 12th nearly half way through the season, and I took the job til the end of the season (just managing a country gets a bit boring after a while). First game we threw away a 3-1 lead to draw 3-3. After that it's been 3 consecutive wins and we're up to 10th. Don't have a genuine defensive midfielder so I'm having to use Agger and Montilivo as makeshift ones for the timebeing, and Reina and Torres are also injured as well.
