FOOTBALL Football Manager Discussion

You lot should manage in the Norwegian league. Has really been the best place I've managed in.

Love the extremely long (timewise) but reduced games in a season. I might do a write up of my career so far in a bit if I can be bothered. Have played proper LLM style up to where I am at the moment.

played the game where you go on holiday until christmas day then take over the bottom club and try to keep them up.

was playing fm11

first attempt i had newcastle on 10 points after 20 games. a valiant effort saw me rally to finish on 37 points, but alas i was 3 points off safety. had no money to spend and no real sellable assets or ability to spend wages on loan players so struggled for goals.. Macheda on loan got some but nowhere near enough.

So i tried again and got west brom on 15 points after 21 matches (accidentally holidays boxing day game, which was winnable against eventual bottom placed blackpool which they lost) had a few million to spend and sold 3-4 players to raise another 4-5 million to spend, brought in Modest M'bami (who only played about 7/8 games) and david vaughn as permanent transfers. brought in tom cairney some morrocan guy from caen (al'arabi or something) on loan (hero, average rating 7.4) and guiza all on loan the latter only played ab out 45 minutes and was a waste of space really. just needed a striker in case i managed to sell a few more

things went well, and i eventually finished 16th, securing survival with a game to go beating united 2-0 at home to take me to 43 points. i was 19th on only 27 points after 30 games, but I managed to beat man city away 3-1 and come from 2-0 down to draw at home to wolves and go on a run.

I apologise for the ridiculous size but hey ho.

Oh and I'm Start in case it wasn't obvious

Ofc when you have a former red managing Molde they'll kill it in the ET. 5 goals away is a great thing but your defence is crap. One own goal and conceding two in the later half. :p

:p

Ole's long gone. Was sacked in the first season when I was still back in England in the Blue Square North.

He's had an interesting career actually, is now in American with his second MLS side.

The current manager of Molde is quite the man to be honest. Has some great stats for a manager so its no surprise he's led Molde to 4 titles in 6 years

They aren't doing as well this year mind. Partially because we're playing so well amongst a few others and Rosenburg have been unstoppable.

With only 10 games remaining I doubt any of the chasing pack are likely to catch them, I'm just hoping for a Euro spot. Though I might leave at the end of the year and see what English jobs are available, what with it being Januaary at the end of their season I suspect there'll be a few decent jobs going. A solid Championship side would be ideal especially after I gave up the chance of managing in the Championship to join Start. (I got Exeter promoted in 2nd place but left well before the start of their maiden Championship season.)

Soldo is a good manager. Once managed Wolves after Mick went to City.

I went on to lose my next three games as Start from where I last posted and was sacked. First time this save and hopefully the last. Thought it was bloody harsh personally as we were predicted to get 9th and were 6th at the time. I then moved to Sandefjord in the hope of resurrecting my reputation in Norway. Resigned after 2 days and 1 game. I could see that there was no chance of survival (they also lost their next three from when that league table was taken) and were well adrift.

Landed on my feet at Hertha BSC in the German Second division, they're top and 9 points clear of third place in late November. Almost certainly should be promoted unless I bugger things up royally.

Just dug a bit deeper and they were relegated last year as reigning German Cup winners, they even played in the Euro Cup this year although they're already been knocked out.

my current saves and the dates in my fm2011 saves, keep in mind that this started in the 2010/2011 season

Stoke - september 2018
Inter (branched save from the stoke game, i took the job in june 20013) - July 2026 - i have managed 5 different nations whilst being inter manager
RC Lens - march 2023
Everton - december 2016

I have also done single seasons with west brom, newcastle and spurs, giving me a grand total of ~ 40 seasons. If i have worked that out right.

All about Cm 01/02 with the Tapani patch and March 2012 data updates. Got through 3 seasons in an evening. Being able to run pretty much every league in the game and it still just races through is awesome.

My save on my broken PC is around 25 seasons in :p I think I was two league titles away from having had Tottenham as most ever Premiership wins in history. At that point I was gonna stop :p

I'm currently playing my first season of my first ever FM save in FM12 as Southampton. So it's still 2011/12 and I'm still in the second division ie "the Championship". But my key central defender Jose Fonte is getting called up for the Portuguese senior side. I'm also losing Steve de Ridder regularly to play for Belgium. How likely or hideously otherwise are these eventualities in real life?
