Brayden Delaney - Captain

Age: 29 years old
Role: Batsman
Batting Position: Top Order
Bats: Left Handed
Bowls: N/A
Nationality: Canadian
Wage: $20,962 per week
Value: $1.2 million
Summary: World Class
Talent: Accumulator
ODI Caps: 26 (14 YODI caps)

Other Notes: The batsman has been exceptional since joining the club. He rarely fails to disappoint, and has maintained his average of 54 at the club through some brilliant performances, despite only 8 centuries in 99 innings. In 25 of his 26 ODI appearances, Delaney has batted at 3, which is an achievement in itself, but an average of a touch above 50 over the last few seasons has seen himself become recognised as the world's leading batsman in this era, with his performances hard to match by anyone on the national scene.

Frank Bollinger

Age: 30 years old
Role: Bowler
Batting Position: Tail
Bats: Right Handed
Bowls: Left arm Medium-Fast
Nationality: Australian
Wage: $21,842 per week
Value: $600,000
Summary: Elite
Talent: Gifted (Technique)
ODI Caps: 6 (5 YODI caps)

Other Notes: Bollinger has been the spearhead of the Hedger's Team attack for a long time now, already closing in on 400 career wickets. While he only broke into the Australian national setup at 29 years of age, he has performed well at the top level, much like he did at youth national level, taking 12 wickets in his 6 ODI caps at an average of 15.08. While he just looks like a steady bowler on paper, he has proven to be lethal, and has even ripped through unarguably the best batting lineup in the world already, making his mark on the top division in Bangladesh.

Junior Chabrol

Age: 30 years old
Role: Bowler
Batting Position: Lower Order
Bats: Right Handed
Bowls: Right arm Medium-Fast
Nationality: American
Wage: $16,969 per week
Value: $250,000
Summary: Exceptional
Talent: Yorker, Safe Hands
ODI Caps: 2 (2 YODI caps)

Other Notes: A recent addition to the squad, to improve a lacking bowling attack. While age is not on his side, he still has a good couple of years in him and will be hoping to perform well at the top level for some time to come.

Evert Goedhart

Age: 27 years old
Role: Bowler
Batting Position: Tail
Bats: Right Handed
Bowls: Left arm Medium
Nationality: Dutch
Wage: $14,751 per week
Value: $450,000
Summary: Exceptional
Talent: Yorker
ODI Caps: Uncapped (8 YODI caps)

Other Notes: Goedhart has been the most promising of the academy players at Hedger's Team, along with Ruben Mol. The medium pacer is a tidy bowler and rarely lets batsmen get the better of him. He will continue to improve over the next year or two and he should expect a national callup in that time.

Alan Grace

Age: 27 years old
Role: Keeper batsman
Batting Position: Top-Middle Order
Bats: Left Handed
Bowls: N/A
Nationality: New Zealand
Wage: $20,925 per week
Value: $800,000
Summary: Exceptional
Talent: None
ODI Caps: Uncapped at Senior nor Youth level

Other Notes: Grace was the needed addition to the squad at the start of the season, with the team lacking a quality glovesman. While the start to his career at his new club has been shaky, yet to show his true potential with the bat and his glove work a little inconsistent, he has a lot of potential and it's only a matter of time before he finds his feet.

Marcel Lansing

Age: 28 years old
Role: Bowler
Batting Position: Tail
Bats: Right Handed
Bowls: Left arm Fast
Nationality: Dutch
Wage: $11,963 per week
Value: $50,000
Summary: Exceptional
Talent: Skilled (Technique)
ODI Caps: Uncapped (2 YODI caps)

Other Notes: While he has struggled to find regular playing time with the club, Lansing has enjoyed a successful career, with impressive bowling averages of under 20 in both formats of the game, although proving to be more of a T20 specialist including a MOTM performance which involved taking 5/2 from 4 overs after scoring 58* with the bat off only 29 balls. While his playing time at the club is limited, he seems content to stick around, although may find a move away from the club in the future.

Smith Logan

Age: 26 years old
Role: All-rounder
Batting Position: Opener
Bowls: Left arm Orthodox
Nationality: Bermudan
Wage: $21,907 per week
Value: $2.5 million
Summary: Exceptional
Talent: Seam Specialist, Gifted (Batting)
ODI Caps: Uncapped (11 YODI Caps)

Other Notes: There is no player like him at this level. While his batting still needs a little work for him to become a pure opening batsman, he has all the traits of a World Class all-rounder. $2.8m might be a little overpriced but there could be much worse wastes of money. Logan has a very promising career in front of him and could be well on his way to becoming the world's best all-rounder.

Cillian Magee

Age: 30 years old
Role: Batsman
Batting Position: Top Order
Bats: Right Handed
Bowls: N/A
Nationality: Irish
Wage: $22,685 per week
Value: $300,000
Summary: Elite
Talent: Gifted (Technique), Skilled (Power)
ODI Caps: 11 (4 YODI caps)

Other Notes: Again getting a little old, but definitely one of the best batsman in the world. He still has a few seasons and him and his skill will not go missed in an experienced Hedger's Team lineup.

Arthur Martin

Age: 29 years old
Role: Batsman
Batting Position: Middle Order
Bats: Right Handed
Bowls: N/A
Nationality: Scottish
Wage: $16,371 per week
Value: $50,000
Summary: Exceptional
Talent: Safe Hands
ODI Caps: Uncapped

Mark McIntyre

Age: 29 years old
Role: Bower
Batting Position: Tail
Bats: Right Handed
Bowls: Right arm Off Spin
Nationality: New Zealand
Wage: $16,930 per week
Value: $100,000
Summary: Exceptional
Talent: Old Ball Bowler
ODI Caps: Uncapped (4 YODI caps)

Other Notes: A tidy spinner, that lacks the penetration needed to be a top bowler at this level however with the lack of pure spinners, he will remain the front line spinner. Although the arrival of Smith Logan may force McIntyre out of the side soon enough.

Ruben Mol

Age: 30 years old
Role: Batsman
Batting Position: Middle-Lower Order (SOD)/Opener (T20)
Bats: Right Handed
Bowls: N/A
Nationality: Dutch
Wage: $16,972 per week
Value: $250,000
Summary: World Class
Talent: Gifted (Fielding)
ODI Caps: Uncapped (3 YODI caps)

Other Notes: He has the second most senior appearances for the club, yet his career has been a little disappointing to say the least. With only 7 centuries in 180 SOD games and an average nearly reaching 35, there has been a lot to be desired. He's had his moments of magic however and there's no doubt he's a class batsman. His 14 T20 centuries show what he's capable with almost 7000 T20 runs. Still the faith Hedger has shown in the lad is remarkable.

Monty Moonface

Age: 30 years old
Role: Batsman
Batting Position: Top Order
Bats: Left Handed
Bowls: N/A
Nationality: American
Wage: $21,778 per week
Value: $300,000
Summary: Exceptional
Talent: Gifted (Power)
ODI Caps: 6

Other Notes: The veteran batsman has been a handy addition to the Hedger's Team squad and has already shown he has what it takes to compete at the top level still, with a strong NAT tour recently, along with solid performance on the domestic front since joining the club. Time may not be on his side but he still has a good season left in him.

Bryan Morris

Age: 29 years old
Role: Bower
Batting Position: Tail
Bats: Right Handed
Bowls: Right arm Fast-Medium
Nationality: New Zealand
Wage: $16,336 per week
Value: $350,000
Summary: World Class
Talent: Bouncer
ODI Caps: Uncapped (2 T20 caps)

Other Notes: He may not have the sheer talent of Bollinger, but Morris has proved to be a steady fast-medium bowler whose hard work in games has rewarded him well, and his useful contributions with the ball have added a needed balance to the current bowling attack.

David O'Keeffe

Age: 28 years old
Role: Batsman
Batting Position: Top Order
Bats: Right Handed
Bowls: N/A
Nationality: Zimbabwean
Wage: $15,670 per week
Value: $200,000
Summary: Spectacular
Talent: None
ODI Caps: Uncapped (3 YODI caps)

Other Notes: O'Keeffe has been found left a little wanting during his career, not getting the playing time that he probably deserves and has slowly suffered as a result. He has become a solid T20 player however, and while he plays as backup for the SOD team, he has provided some useful knocks, helping him to a solid average of 40. A move away from the club seems likely to reluctant but Hedger doesn't want to let him go for under $200,000.

Victor Omara

Age: 29 years old
Role: Batsman
Batting Position: Top Order
Bats: Left Handed
Bowls: N/A
Nationality: Canadian
Wage: $21,798 per week
Value: $750,000
Summary: Elite
Talent: None
ODI Caps: 5 (18 YODI caps)

Other Notes: Omara is part of the special Canadian duo who make up the Hedger's Team top order. The talent that Omara has shown during his career is unmatched. Despite his very impressive club record, he's yet to have the impact that Delaney has had at international level. Still he has a few years to prove that he is one of the best batsman in the world.

Arnold Schultz

Age: 26 years old
Role: Batsman
Batting Position: Lower Order
Bats: Right Handed
Bowls: N/A
Nationality: American
Wage: $14,300 per week
Value: $300,000
Summary: Spectacular
Talent: Finisher
ODI Caps: Uncapped (6 YODI caps)

Other Notes: Schultz is a young talent, but still needs another season or two before he's fully ready for Division one. He has the potential to be a great end of innings player, and has shown those talents on various occasions already. He also has the surprising record of having the highest SOD score of 287, but only one century to his name.

Lars van der Hoeven

Age: 29 years old
Role: Keeper
Batting Position: Lower Order
Bats: Left Handed
Bowls: N/A
Nationality: Dutch
Wage: $10,363 per week
Value: $20,000
Summary: Spectacular (Bat) / Outstanding (Keep)
Talent: Spin Specialist
ODI Caps: Uncapped

Other Notes: A solid glovesman developed through the academy. Despite being nothing of world class standard, he has managed over 2000 SOD runs at an average close to 40, and his keeping is nothing to write off. Still his time at the club is now limited with the arrival of Grace.

Brad Wingard

Age: 31 years old
Role: Bowler
Batting Position: Tail
Bats: Right Handed
Bowls: Right arm Fast
Nationality: Scottish
Wage: $17,296 per week
Value: $50,000
Summary: World Class
Talent: Gifted (Bowling)
ODI Caps: Uncapped

Michael Young

Age: 30 years old
Role: Batsman
Batting Position: Opener
Bats: Right Handed
Bowls: N/A
Nationality: Scottish
Wage: $15,942 per week
Value: $75,000
Summary: Exceptional
Talent: Gifted (Batting)
ODI Caps: Uncapped

Other Notes: Young has proved to be an invaluable influence to the club, managing over 5000 runs as well as captaining the T20 side for many seasons now. He is a much underrated player but never fails to impress. Despite now seeming like a rotation option only, Young still gives it all in every innings and there is not much more you can ask from a player.

Aladdin Yousif

Age: 30 years old
Role: All-Rounder
Batting Position: Lower Order
Bats: Right Handed
Bowls: Right arm Medium
Nationality: UAE
Wage: $17,922 per week

Summary: Outstanding (Bat) / Exceptional (Bowl)

Other Notes: Yousif has been a star since he first joined the club at 16 years of age. Despite having a bowling average of over 35 at one stage, some impressive seasons has brought that down to a respectable 25, with over 200 wickets. along with over 2000 runs with the bat, proving to be more than a useful all-rounder.

Late Fire from Omara and O'Leary Puts Hedger's Team in a Respectable Position

After being sent into bat, Hedger's Team would have been looking to put on close to 300 on a dry pitch. An early setback didn't do them any favours however, as Crane was caught stranded in the middle of the pitch, and run out for 9, off 19 balls as Hedger's Team were 1/25 after 6.3 overs. Young and Omara had a slow time rebuilding, bringing up the 50 partnership off 76 balls, putting the team at 75/1 after 19 overs. Runs weren't easy to come by, but things looked to change when Omara took Simpson on, slogging him back over his head, over the mid-on boundary for 6, and brought up his 50 a couple of overs later, while Young was slowly moving along, at 65 off 105 balls, the team 136/1 after 32 overs, and the team really needed to get a move on.

Young found himself frustrated, not scoring in his next 5 deliveries, and found himself back in the pavilion, as he tried to take on Moir, but the flight deceived him, and it spun back in, taking out the leg stump, and Young was on his way for 65. O'Leary wasted no time getting into the action, dispatching Moir for 6, stepping away, and cracking a flat, hard six over long-off. Moir became the target, and Omara got into the action himself a couple of overs later, hitting two boundaries in 3 balls, and the run rate was pushed back up above 4.5 an over.

Barisal Burners came back with a few tight overs, but Moir was again the one who was hit around, as O'Leary smashed two boundaries off him in his final over, taking Hedger's Team to 196/2 after 41 overs, Omara on 71*, O'Leary on 28* off only 20 deliveries. 30 runs came off the next 4 overs, and 270 now looked on the cards. A wonderful straight drive off Terry moved Omara into the 90s and on the verge of his 8th One Day century. Omara nicely swept the ball away off McGhee, to get 3 more runs, bringing up the 100 run partnership, coming off only 77 balls. O'Leary then hammered McGhee through extra cover to bring up his 50, at a nice strike rate of 137.64. Another wide ball from McGhee saw Omara cutting him through backward point to move onto 99 and with one ball left in the over, Omara had a chance of bringing up his century. The field remained spread, and a pitched up delivery allowed the Canadian batsman to push the ball out to long-off for a single and he raised his bat to the crowd after an incredible century, coming off 120 balls. 24 runs came off the final 3 overs as Omara and O'Leary's stunning partnership pushed the team's total up to 273/2, Omara finishing on 113* (131), with O'Leary scoring 63* off 45. It would be a tough chase for Barisal Burners, but Hedger's Team's bowlers need to put in a good performance to restrict them on a good-looking pitch.

Well , O'Leary was the boss there in the ending overs , his fast and excellent innings let the team reach to defending target . I should be sad when I see Omara taking away the MOM performance from O'Leary .:p

Tindall Major Factor in Lower Order Collapse

Being set 274, it wasn't going to be an easy run chase as opening batsman, Hay and Harwood made their way out to the middle. Lansing and Bollinger shared the new ball, but didn't have any early success, as the openers put on a 50 run partnership, coming off 56 balls, as Harwood dispatched Lansing over the mid-wicket boundary for a huge six, and after 9 overs, Barisal Burners were sitting comfortably on 0/51.

O'Leary was kicking himself, when he dropped Harwood off the bowling off Bollinger in the following over, and the opening batsman was given another life. Harwood didn't make the most of it as the next ball was slightly short, but he only managed to top edge and Yousif took a simple catch at mid-on, Harwood out for 28 and Barisal Burners were 54/1 after 10 overs. Lansing was taken off after bowling 5 overs for 23 as skipper, Fred Tindall brought himself into the attack. Burke wasn't waiting long to get into the action as he took matters into his own hands, charging down the track like an invading marauder, and lofted the ball well over long-on for six. Tindall left the field the same and gave his next ball a bit more kick, as it spun and bounced and caught the inside edge, going onto the pad before popping up for Michael Young at short-leg who took a simple catch, and Burke was out for 7, Tindall striking in his first over and Barisal Burners were not looking as good. Bollinger finished his six over spell, with figures of 1/33 and spinner, Andrew Whiteman was brought into the attack.

Hay and Williams looked to rebuild the visitors' innings, and after 20 overs, they were 108/2, the RRR just moving above 5.5 an over. Tindall finished a good spell of bowling with 1/28 from 6 overs, and Yousif was brought into the attack. Yousif and Whiteman kept things tight until drinks and the RRR had now risen to 6.16 halfway through the innings. Whiteman put the pressure on straight after drinks, only conceding 1 from his next over. Hay released some of this pressure however, as he leg glanced Yousif through square leg for 4, to bring up his fifty, and then glanced one fine the following ball, bringing up back to back boundaries. Williams didn't look comfortable and edged Whiteman through a vacant second slip, and the quick outfield showed itself as the ball raced to the boundary. Yousif kept things tight, but Whiteman copped a bit at the end of his spell, going for 21 runs in his last 3 overs, to finish with figures of 0/45 from his 10 overs.

Lansing was brought back into the attack, and the quick Netherlands fast bowler started the spell strongly, with a tight over, before taking the wicket of Williams in his second over, as Williams played all around a straight ball, clean bowled, and he was on his way back to the pavilion for 41, Barisal Burners now 160/3 after 35 overs, the RRR now up to 7.60. Yousif kept things tight at the other end and finally got his reward for a fine bowling spell, although ironically off a bad ball, as a short ball was hooked away by Gloury, but straight down the throat of Tindall in the deep, Gloury out for 8. Lansing seemed to put the game beyond doubt, jamming in a yorker at Mahadevan's toes and Mahadevan couldn't get his bat down in time, bowled for 1 and Barisal Burners were in deep trouble at 5/177. A slightly disappointing end to his spell hurt Lansing's figures but he would be pleased with returns of 2/47 in his first one day match of the season. Yousif finished a solid spell with 1/37 and probably deserved a couple of more wickets.

Barisal Burners were 203/5 after 42 overs and the RRR was nearly up to 9 runs an over. Skipper Freddie Tindall brought himself back into the attack, to bowl out the rest of his innings and nearly had Hay out with his first ball, as a slight edge went straight through the hands of keeper, Pettinger and raced away to the boundary, as Hay moved onto 98. Hay fell agonisingly short of his century however, as he came down the wicket to Tindall next ball, but edged it straight into the hands of Omara at first slip, and Hay was out for 98, Barisal Burners losing their last hope of winning this match. Moir followed him 3 balls later, as he softly popped the ball up for Crane and mid-wicket and Tindall had 3 wickets. Simpson seemed to give up hope, as he half heartedly put his bat out at a spinning ball, and the ball struck the outside edge and flew to Frank Bollinger who held onto the ball comfortably at second slip and Barisal Burners had collapsed to 209/8. Frank Bollinger joined in on the fun, as Bubb was deceived by the moving ball, cutting back in, trapping him right in front of the stumps, and he was on his way for 7. He couldn't finish them off, leaving Fred Tindall a chance at a hattrick and 5 wickets.

McGhee tried to take Tindall on, but lack of foot movement nearly cost him his wicket, as he completely missed the ball, and the ball narrowly missed the top of off-stump, Tindall with hands on his head. The next ball was dispatched to the boundary off another ugly looking shot, and the skipper looked slightly frustrated. Terry was unable to play the spin of Tindall however and the ball spun back in, as Terry's cut shot proved ineffective, edging him straight through to Pettinger, as Tindall finished with match figures of 5/39, his 4th five wicket haul for the club and 7th of his career.

In the end, Barisal Burners fell 56 runs short, bowled out for 217 after 44.5 overs. Barisal Burners would have had to thank Hay for getting that close, with his 98, his only support being Williams with 41 and his opening partner, Harwood with 28. The rest of the team all scored in single figures. It was a solid bowling performance all round, Tindall taking the honours with 5/39, but openers Bollinger (2/36 off 7) and Lansing (2/47 off 10) looked good with the ball, and Whiteman and Yousif bowled very economically with 0/45 and 1/37 respectively, both off 10 overs. With his century, Victor Omara was named MOTM, as he passed 3000 career runs.

Toss: Barisal Burners (elected to bowl)
Result: Hedger's Team 273/2 (Omara 113*, Young 65, Moir 1/55) def. Barisal Burners 217 a.o. (Hay 98, Williams 41, Tindall 5/39, Bollinger 2/36) by 56 runs
MOTM: Victor Omara (113* off 131 balls, and 1 catch)
