Whoa chill.. I don't find Minrows bad, they can at times go far, for example, Kenya. But your saying this in such a stereotype way Rohit, Indians also have the same feelings. And just because one person has a feeling, the whole population doesn't have to have the same feeling.

Ok
What I meant wasn't in a stereotypical way-Just came out a bit too harsh.
I didn't really mean anything against Pakistan (If thats what you think i meant :what) But just wanted Ireland to prove that they can beat a test team too, and perhaps get into the Super 8's.

Kenya in the previous world cup got to the Semi's-If thats not far what is?

Nah, what if they all got out for 200 today? Would you still say the same?
People deserve to play, if they're good or bad. Just like if your on the playground. You can still go play football with the "big"/"Really really good" kids at recess even if you're not so good.
2 "minnows" yesterday provided one of the most entertaining games i have ever seen. Cricket=Entertainment. Period. As long as I get that i'm happy.

Yeah. They started off well, Kallis and Gibbs both got several chances.
KX, why should this not count? 430+ was hit in both innings with Aus and SA, should those not count too?
Just because you're not absolutly fantastic at something doesn't mean you can't play, and doesn't mean you can't win. I'm sick of people shunning minnows. I really want Ireland to beat Pakistan tomorrow just to shut people like you up.
Well...I meant abt the records made against the minnows and Aus neither SA are Minnows!

Why should that be any different than against the associates? They're a team too!!

They are a team too but not a test team! Records should be made and broken only against test playing nations!
Erm-If its classified as a regular One Day International match, then the records should count.

The best thing is that the minnows should not be allowed to compete in the World Cup! There are 8 test playing teams and the rest are non-test teams...The ICC should arrange a tournament for the Non-test teams and the two finalists play in the world cup having 2 groups with each minnow in each group!

That tournament is the ICC Intercontinental Cup.
If you don't like Minnows-Go watch the Champions Trophy
This is the World Cup. The WORLD is not just the 8 test playing teams. We want Cricket to grow-Not to be only contained to the 8 "elite" nations. Look at the all the fans the Irish brought! If you have a problem with that, you want to change the name of the tournament as well?
Again-The best match i've seen in a while were 2 of those "minnows".

If you want more of my views on this topic look here: http://www.planetcricket.org/forums/showthread.php?t=30692
I share my views with alot of people there-Especially "Sphalon" and others.

Well, if the associates don't play, we cannot see matches such as the ones where Bangladesh beat Pakistan and Kenya beat West Indies.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Sri Lanka were once in a similar position but then went on to win a world cup, and could do this year.

Who better to learn from than the best?

Every team bar England, Aus and maybe SA started off as minnows. They worked their way up and now we have 8 competitive ones including SL who were the recent minnow to step up. The Dutch still have a way to go but taking them out of the WC will just send their progress back 20 years.

What's the point of the WC then if there are only 8 teams participating?? The ICC should be applauded (very rarely) for their decision to keep the minnow teams in the WC. Cricket can't be a game confined to only 8-9 nations. If so then cricket will not be a global game and I seriously don't see it prospering in the future with only 8-9 nations playing. Also the CWC is not the only worldwide event where we see thrashings, if anyone saw the 03 Rugby World Cup, IIRC Australia smashed Namibia and the score was 100-10 or something like that.

I hate these Minnows! 6 sixes in an over! Maximum sixes in an inning by a team! Fastest fifty in WC!

6 sixes is a rare achievement no matter who the opponent is. Congratulations Herchelle. Also if it seems as easy as you make it out to be then how come it's never been achieved before in ODI's??

Netherlands and Bermuda arn't up to scratch.

Why any minnow side would insert a top ranked side into bat first i'll never know. Thats suicide.

Well a 200+ Run loss is worse than a 10 wicket win you reckon?

No Diff Really.
