Group B - Bangladesh, Bermuda, India, Sri Lanka

Everyone is speaking about India crashing out. Come on! Havent teams bounced back from almost 'dead' situations to come back to win the World Cup? Pakistani fans can re-live their 1992 glorious moments. Even Australia were at the brink of elimination in 1999 after losing lot of matches in the group stage. Yet they bounced back brilliantly to win 7 odd games in a trot to win the World Cup!

I am not speaking of bouncing back in ODI's. I am speaking about bouncing back in this 'World Cup' itself. So what if its not in India's control anymore? The players are realising that they have performed really bad, the captain has given a very honest opinion about the performance to the media.

I really hope Bermuda perform that miracle and give India that boost in confidence! Yes, it will be like a new life to the team, but we have instances of it happening in the past!

Sai see, I would love to see Bermuda beating Bangladesh, this would be another chance for the Indian team to show what they are really capable off.

But I feel the problem is that, this won't help the indian team to bring new young talent to the national side. The selectors and BCCI will be looking to continue with the current rules of Indian cricket. Ofcourse everyone would agree that the current system of BCCI is not that great for young upcoming talents.

One thing i cannot understand, if players perform well, many many fans just raise their level & praise them like God... " Com'on Sachin!!! Sachin is God!!! Com'on Dhoni!! Com'on Dada!!! ".

But if they fail, thats it.. same fans who praised them like God just wanted to burry and stand on them! " Drop Sachin!!! Drop Dhoni!! He is fit for nothing " and so & so!

I am sorry to say that, its just a stupidity! infact me too, once, criticised Sourav to maximum extent but realised its just a wrong stupid thing to do. We people should not only support our team at happy times but also in Crisis.

Yesterday they showed in TV on fan's reactions in different places.. & was really horrible & a cheap behaviour.

The problem with that Sai is that Bermuda are realy not very good, the chances of their batsman putting a decent total on the board, or even chasing, are very slim.

I know, I know. If we can beat them by 257 runs, Bangladesh can also (even if by a smaller margin!). Its all just a prayer, a slim hope!

ya true, am a huge supporter of Indian Cricket. But you go to admit all this support we give them throughout all the games they still don't perform. We buy all their products, they still don't win. It seems they just don't care.

Anyway I am still going to support India, and just consider this world cup as history, and hope they learn from these defeats.

i will be watching this match and praying..... :hpraise

The Indian players have probably been getting very chummy with the Bermudans--offering tips and net practice sessions. :p

And we can't drop Ganguly now. But I don't think it'll take too long for him to enter a lean patch and see his head roll.

We need to improve our domestic system. We should use our advantage of having hugely fanatical cricketing neighbors. Imagine how our skill would go up if we had some sort of domestic/club competition involving teams from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. We would be facing the cream of the crop of the upcoming players and hence would be better prepared. We would also (hopefully) be performing in different conditions, albeit in India.

The funny thing is India seems to perform well in the junior circuits. And then there's a void where all players bar the Indian ones catch up and go ahead, and our Under-19 hero's look like regulation Ashish Nehra's. Speaking of which, where'd he go? Loved his batting...

India should send all their bowlers to offer net sessions to the Bermudans before this game.
The Indian batsmen have already given theeir bowlers quite a lot of bowling practice last game !!

In a match that has taken a different outlook altogether - theoretically, India could still go through to the Super Eights on net run rate if Bermuda beat Bangladesh - Bermuda suddenly find themselves backed by more than a billion Indian fans. "Tomorrow India is really banking on us to play well," Irving Romaine, Bermuda's captain, said. "It is good to have that support." Bermuda posed little trouble to Sri Lanka and India, and Bangladesh eased to an eight-wicket win over them in a warm-up game.

The Bermudans will never get this chance to play with a support of one billion fans again.
I hope they do not feel the pressure!

If India wants to build a captain then i say go with Yuvraj Singh or why not a bowler? Maybe Zaheer Khan? Lately hes been the only one leading the bowling attack. Although if Kaif comes back into some sort of form i see potential in him.
Yuvi is too inexperienced. Being a captain is a huge responsibility. He is only just maturing as a batsman. This burden may have a very bad effect on him.
Zaheer's place in the team is not guaranteed on Indian pitches where only 2 fast bowlers are picked.

According to News Channels, Sachin is the prime candidate. That would be a real shame. He was given more than one chance, and he failed both times. His batting suffers when he becomes a captain, and he is also not a very smart captain.

i would rather have Dravid as the captain. Frankly speaking, he hadnt done much wrong in this worldcup, as far as strategy is concerned.

Bermuda's batting showed promise there, they got starts but did not convert them.

They also now have Malachi Jones in their team.

Malachi Jones looked like more of a liability than an asset. :p

He got injured and was then replaced by better talents like Pathan and Balaji. The latter has now ironically had the same fate.
P.S: Nehra wasn't that bad a batsman. We now have Munaf Patel to replace him ;)

The domestic system is good. The level of matches played between top teams is right up there with the best. But, the problem is that there are just too many teams in the Ranji trophy that brings in teams like Orissa, J&K, Madhya Pradesh etc. The good players from these sides don't get a chance to prove their skills. I think the number of teams in Ranji should be restricted to just 5 or 6, so that all the teams that play in the league are top class.

NO! That would just mean some of the players who are potentially very good won't even get into state teams.
