Group B - Bangladesh, Bermuda, India, Sri Lanka

The domestic system is good. The level of matches played between top teams is right up there with the best. But, the problem is that there are just too many teams in the Ranji trophy that brings in teams like Orissa, J&K, Madhya Pradesh etc. The good players from these sides don't get a chance to prove their skills. I think the number of teams in Ranji should be restricted to just 5 or 6, so that all the teams that play in the league are top class.
I agree with you again :P
I remember Imran Khan making this point several times. There are just far two many teams. Even in Ranji Trophy teams Zone should participate instead of states (like in Duleep Trophy).
Another thing is, during the demestic season, BCCI shouldnt schedule any tour, so international players also can participate in domestic cricket.

Indian cricket fan commits suicide

A CRICKET fan committed suicide while another died of a heart attack in India after watching their national team's crushing defeat to Sri Lanka in the World Cup match in the Caribbean.

India should send all their bowlers to offer net sessions to the Bermudans before this game.
The Indian batsmen have already given theeir bowlers quite a lot of bowling practice last game !!

The Bermudans will never get this chance to play with a support of one billion fans again.
I hope they do not feel the pressure!

Only the Indian players give the excuse of pressure of the fans! For other teams, such backing is usually an inspiration to raise their game!

Match delayed due to rain

The least thing everyone would want is Bangladesh qualifying because of a washout. I seriously hope that is not the case. If they qualify, it should be by beating Bermuda, or they should lose for india to qualify!

I'm disappointed that the last game of the group stages is Bangladesh v Bermuda. A mis-match and a match where we won't see cricket played at the highest level by either team

11.25 : All the covers are off and the stumps are being inserted. The crowd are understandably relieved. We are still awaiting an official word from the umpires. The staff are busy running ropes along the outfield to dry it.
some good news at last, from cricinfo !!

Yup, and you know that will never work. For example, I'm from Orissa and I just wouldn't agree with you that we should do away with those teams.

Dishnet says game scheduled to start at 11:50 AM local time. If that's the case, I have to say that the drainage facilities are ace!

LMAO now Cricinfo says it's drizzling again, although it looks like the players are hanging around the boundary. This is really Bermuda's best opportunity to win--with the rain, messieurs Duckworth and Lewis could have a say. However, them batting first definitely changes things around.

Apparently it's drizzling again and players will take a 12 local time lunch. So in 10 minutes (I'm not putting it into every time zone ;))

Weird. My webcast shows the Bermudan batsmen taking guard. I guess it must be a few minutes behind.

yeah bermuda is batting the match has been reduced to 41 overs per side
Already one wicket down

I think Bermuda will be restricted to below 150. Unless David Hemp comes up with a blinder. Even at number 4, it shouldn't be long since he's in. :p

Indian cricket team can learn few things from the Sri Lankan team. I was amazed how Sangakkara/Tharanga focused on picking up quick singles to slow down momentum of Indian bowling. Yuvaraj and Kaif used to play that style, and we don't have any such combo in the current team. Indian batsmen should try to do such little things, which will pay out in big at the end. I could not believe Saurav or Sachin could not get any singles or place the balls in gap. Indian players still play 1980-s style cricket which needs a big change.

Does Dave Whatmore contract expire after this World Cup? Dave seems to be very successful to sell "Team" mentality to his teams.
