good innings by Nixon.showed some good fight,really bg mistake by Fleming to bring on the spinners against him,Nixon is a really good player of it. we can defend this score if Jimmy is 100% and Monty bowls well,plus fred owes us a good performance with the ball because he was crap with the bat.Plunket also showed why he's a more than useful batsmen and was key to getting us to a total we can defend,70 run partnership! That gives us more than a chance!

Plunkett can better the open innings. England reached 209-7. It's actually still a low total.

it's still defendable, it's meant to get harder to score on. Plunkett wouldn't be a bad opener he'd be a good pinch hitter

Plunkett looks more like a batsman then a few players above him. All-Rounder of the future maybe.

At least England got over 200, so they wern't embarrised that badly. We should had them all out for 150 really. A few dropped chances which were difficult mind you. Run-outs we maybe should have taken. Pietersen was absolutly dead to Vettori's first ball, but at least we get a game out of it. It happens.

Bond was his usual world class self. 2-19. Bowled excellant to the conditions. Truly a stunning bowler. Franklin was pretty tidy.

70 something partership at the end was a dissapointing end for us. We didn't have our usual 2 death bowlers (Bondy and Gillespie) so Fleming unfortonatly had to go with spin. Didn't work very well. Vettori bowled better then 0-53, 12 off his last over really inflated that and should have had a wicket. Patel was unfortonatly a wasted selection as the pitch didn't spin a hell of a lot. Not in the first innings anyway. Styris was fantastic and I thought McCullums wicket keeping was top draw!

Shouldn't be a hard total to chase.
