Geeze they lose a match and you right them off for good. England are a good team who lost one match. I cant believe even there own fans cant even see this.
Don't get me wrong, I'm still an England supporter, I'm just being realistic.

I suffered through the game doing commentary on CricketEurope. It must be said that England were very unimpressive, sometimes getting the basics wrong.

I feel for you Andrew. It was bad enough having to listen to it.

We've been getting the basics wrong for a long time in ODI's now and it's very frustrating because they aren't bad players!

The England you're seeing now is the real England ODI side, the one we saw for the majority of the CBS and the one that we've seen more often than not since the 2004 Champions Trophy.

The manner of the dismissals yesterday were shocking for most of the batsman. What do we do with Bell? He scores 20s, 30s and 40s seemingly every game but doesn't go on. Do we bring in Strauss? Imo, someone who can bat at 3/4 and is a good nurdler against spin in the middle overs.

I think we have to keep faith in Bell for now,Strauss did no better in the CBS and we can see Bell has the ability he just has to convert it,the weird thing is all our batsmen look in quite good touch, maybe they will come good later on :upray

I agree with this. The conditions didn't suit against New Zealand and we lost, so now we just have to concentrate on winning games. We did this against Canada. I couldn't care if it's by 1 run or 100 runs, a win is a win. If we beat Kenya we should go through and then we can start to worry about playing really well. There are plenty of positives, just a shame that most people just take any excuse to put the team down.

i think that for the rest of the world cup all English fans should be banned from posting anything negative about the team no matter how patheticly we collapse. Lets get behind the boys!

I've been doing that with England's ODI side since I realised that ODI's are just not as important as Test matches.

This is what I mean. Why should one be more important? Do you think Test Matches are more important because England are better at them?

Try telling me realistically why ODI's are not important, as I think a lot of people disagree with that.

I'll add my 5 cents on the situation. If only because noone in England will accept it.

I think what gets the fans negative is that essentially England never seem to learn from their mistakes. Especially in ODI cricket. We had an abysmal run for 5 years because our top order bar Tresco was unable to get us off to a flyer. We finally hit a decent spell with Loye pinchhitting and at least threatening to put the platform down that our batting lineup needs. Yet here we are in the World Cup, and yet again we are meandering through powerplays, losing wickets in quick succession, and failing to pick them up after the ball stops swinging. Basically it's the same old story that seems to be shaping up.

Here's hoping they stick with Ravi ahead of JD (harsh but ultimately fair I feel) and that at least one of Vaughan or Joyce actually shows some kind of desire to pick up quick singles as well as hitting over the field (that is afterall the point of the powerplays :rolleyes)

I've been here many times before but i'll repeat myself anyway.

ODIs are important don't get me wrong but i've never taken to them as I have done with Test cricket. You'll never find me ranting and raving about an England team collapsing in an ODI because although I care about what I do, I just don't take them as seriously as Tests. I do enjoy ODIs because they are fun too watch and I do want England to win with all of my heart but I just laugh it off if we lose whereas in the Test arena i'll be upset and/or disgruntled.

When I started watching cricket properly in around 98/99 England weren't too special in either format so it's nothing to do with England being better at a certain format.

We're in the middle of the World Cup. ODI's should be at the top of their minds at the moment.

England would have to really skrew up to lose to Kenya. Why not think positively. They do have a better side then Kenya. Leave the negativity for if they do lose to them.
