India in England/Ireland/Scotland

Seems we struggle with a spinner's straight ball more than the ball that turns.

Only one batsman made use of the small boundaries and that was our No.8

Yes, even Kumble is not a big turner of the ball and his performances in the recent test matches speak for themselves!

Chawla's 'straight one' has more than meets the eye. It seems to be closer to the batsman than he expects and that is how it goes through the gate. Since there is no visible drift or spin, you must expect that it is a variation in his release (out of the side of the hand) and if used properly, it can be a potent weapon.

Chawla must be some talent then.
Comprehensively dismissed the very very best batsman the country of England have to offer on a flat pitch & his only 18!

I wouldn't read too much into it. He's promising, but lets not build him up too much. I prefer Powar to Chawla.

Go and play with Powar then. Chawla is bowling better than Powar.Bhajji will be back soon.;)

Prefer Powar to Chawla? Oh... Dont know how to react to that.

As of now, Chawla will become India's best spinner if he continues his good show. He has amazing talent and would be really big if given the right opportunities

Powar's fitness totally goes against him. And he is not that special a spinner like Chawla. Once Bhajji is back, India have two class spinners who can win matches on their own.

See, Powar has all that it needs in an off spinner. He's the best spinner in ODI cricket after Murali, imo. His fitness does let him down, but that's something you can improve. He could easily go to the gym and lose a few kilos. However, learning how to bowl well in international cricket is not something that can be done easily

whats the pitch and ground like at edgebaston tomorrow, i feel ashamed to ask this because i live in birmingham...:p

It'll be a good pitch, probably not as many runs as the last two games and maybe a bit more in it for the seamers (and less for the spinner than at Bristol), they do tend to bring in the boundaries alot at Edgbaston though.
