India in England Jun-Sept 2014

Props to Mr. Sunil Dev for being bold enough to spew such retarded thoughts out in the public. Takes guts to be so openly stupid

If you work or plan to work as a professional would you carry your girlfriend/wife/boyfriend at the workplace?

You missed the point. He has said something to the effect of wives are okay, but gfs are a cause for distraction. Which is just a stupid and regressive thing to say.

Didnt I posted: girlfriend/wife/boyfriend? / symbol normally means AND OR.

What the guy is saying is it is okay to allow wives to be with the players on tour, but gfs are not allowed. Now what is the rational behind allowing wives but not gfs. That is the what makes the whole thing stupid.

Derbyshire beats Leicestershire in getting Pujara to play for them
County news : Derbyshire win race foir Cheteshwar Pujara | Cricket News | England Domestic Season 2014 | ESPN Cricinfo

Good to hear that Pujara will play four 4-day first class games for Derbyshire (i.e. subject to BCCI approval, which should hopefully come with Sanjay Patel's comments). would be very interested in following Derbyshire's fortunes just for Pujara's progress. Hope Pujara can face some really testing conditions as much as possible in these 4 games so that it helps him learn.[DOUBLEPOST=1408830390][/DOUBLEPOST]

Workplace hours are typically 8AM - 5PM (or 8 hrs a day), with the professional coming back home to their wife/girlfriend/boyfriend. Are you telling me that on a cricket tour, work hours are 24/7?

Obviously not. However the cricketers are not on a vacation they have training in between and tour matches. I am not saying I agree with him but understand the point he is trying to make. Kohli is potentially the next great batsman, probably the best ever from India, he had been in the mix a while now he is not entirely new to the setup, there must be a reason for his poor run in the test series and it may just be the girlfriend thingy causing it, who knows?

LOL, we are starting to go around in circles. I dont think we will agree with each other from the way things are panning out .

My sentiments exactly.

I think this Sunil Dev is trying to say, that if Kohli is not scoring runs, he cannot sleep with Anushka. :)

A 'performance' initiative of sorts then :D

On a side note worth mentioning that IS Bindra has retired from Ind cricket administration all together. He can be said to be the pioneer of the idea of taking cricket off air of DD (national broadcaster in India), and introducing broadcast rights for the first time in India in '94, which was the reason for the rise of the now Star network in India. This was the first step for BCCI becoming the richest board in the world, it is today.

My comment in response to Mr. Dev's implied comment - "Wife is ok, but girlfriend is not. Having a girlfriend is against Indian culture" :)

To answer your question, no I wouldn't.

Its a completely personality thing. There is no right or wrong (in taking companions, whoever it maybe, with you on tour). If I were in Kohli's shoes, I would take my girlfriend or wife on tour with me if the opportunity presents because I need company in my lonely time, and I can handle personal life away from professional life and will not let both conflict each other. The only thing to see if, if the girlfriend or wife disrupts the time you need to spend on training and preparation for the game. If they do, then they should be barred from joining the professional on tour. But that also should be on a case by case basis. You can't just throw out a blanket and say "no wife or girlfriend allowed on tour for ANYONE".[DOUBLEPOST=1408847119][/DOUBLEPOST]

How old is that guy? Hope he is not a young guy. If he is, its very scary to see the younger generation talk in such regressive fashion.

Was in agreement until the last line.

If they are making a rule it has to be for all .. you cant do a case by case and allow one guy's wife or gf, and not the others. This would just create absolute conflict and most likely make things worse. If you are disallowing WAGs then it has to be for everyone.

But again, the issue here is the silly differentiation between wives and gfs by Sunil Dev. Not whether WAGs should be allowed on tours or not

Actually you know what.... I am sorry, I agree with you now. Now that I think about the repercussions that it would have if its done by a case by case basis, I take back that last statement.

Can we please not talk about the Indian players partners and their sexual proclivities, its actually pretty creepy to be talking about and they have a right to do whatever they want to do, y'know...

India look to end 24-year wait | Cricket News | England v India | ESPN Cricinfo

24 Number of years since India have won a bilateral ODI series in England. The last, and only, time this happened was in 1990 when India won the Texaco Trophy beating England 2-0, successfully chasing in both wins, with exactly 12 balls to spare each time. Since then, India have played three bilateral ODI series in England, not winning a single game in two of those, but fighting before going down 4-3 in 2007.

So despite popular belief India have not 'done it all' as some may tend to think. I dont see them winning this series neither. England 4-1!

we did win natwest trophy in 2002 it was a tri series with SL too, but all the better you know for an extra team, and to chase 326 in final at lords against the then eng and winning thats something
