India in England Jun-Sept 2014

Looks like the rains are gonna get the better of us both. Hopefully we're able to sneak in a T20 match but it certainly looks gloomy.

BCCI annoyed after MS Dhoni says ‘boss’ Duncan Fletcher will lead India till World Cup | The Indian Express

“Dhoni can’t decide who should be coach. BCCI will decide it,” a top BCCI official told The Indian Express, “At the same time, we also want to add that it is the selection committee that will decide the coach and captain for the World Cup.”

As I have said before, I personally don't see Fletcher as a coach after this England tour unless Dhoni or Srinivasan decides to intervene in between.

I was actually wondering about this when Dhoni made that statement that Fletcher will lead India to World Cup 2015. I assumed that Dhoni probably got the go-ahead from BCCI otherwise he is usually not known for making such statements in public. But looks like he is clearly not a big fan of with the "new changes"

Yeah this is the first I have seen MSD take on BCCI like this. Something is brewing.

@PokerAce What did I say yesterday about this? I did question why Dhoni is talking about Fletcher's future. He should not be the guy talking about it. His future itself is on line (more so after reading comments like this from BCCI personnel) and yet the guy talks about the future of his team's coach. Does Dhoni pay Fletcher's bills? No, the BCCI does. So the BCCI should talk about it.

Right now, Dhoni should be completely silent and focus on resurrecting the team.

Did you notice that statement from that BCCI official that says

BCCI senior official said:
it is the selection committee that will decide the coach and captain for the World Cup

Seems like Dhoni is also losing support now within the BCCI. They probably will not send a new captain to the World Cup, but if I am sensing from this statement is right, Dhoni's test captaincy should be in serious doubt.

Yeah something does seem to be up. Never has MSD ever stood up to BCCI like that. Even so I will still be surprised if something happens before the WC.

If the WI series was not in between, and Ind went from losing to Eng to losing to Aus, then perhaps. However, with WI before that and Ind should win that and is last yaer's series is anything to go by, win it 3-0, then I do think MSD will get some rope.

Deep down we all know we will lose in Aus regardless of who the captain is and even the BCCI knows that. So post WI win, even if Aus is as big a drubbing as we all know it will be, they may not be so trigger happy with the WC just months away.

However Aus tour is the last difficult away series Ind have for a while, and apart from WI and Ban away, Ind have a long run of NZ, SA, Eng and AUs all playing in India, where in all honestly India should do well. I think I posted somewhere a run of 8 very winnalbe series till India go to SL, and then SA.

So if MSD gets past the Aus series, then he is likely to stick around for a while to come. That there is no real alternative is helping his cause right now.
