India in West Indies, 2009

Quite an interesting team. Finally they've shown some interest in giving the guys who consistently perform in the domestic level a chance.
I want to see Badrinath,Nayar,Nehra and Karthik in all four games. They deserve their chances.

Sachin, Zaheer, Raina, Viru rested for WI tour...It would be then difficult for Indians to win..though India have few good player other then who are rested, like Y Pathan,Ojha,Jadeja, but it will test for them to play on those tracks...

Why is Raina rested? He is feeling tired at 22.

Dhoni was talking about wanting a rest but I guess the selectors may have given him an ultimatum instead.

From that squad, I'd go with this XI:

1. Gautam Gambhir
2. Murali Vijay
3. Subramaniam Badrinath
4. Yuvraj Singh
5. Rohit Sharma
6. MS Dhoni+*
7. Yusuf Pathan
8. Harbhajan Singh
9. RP Singh
10. Pragyan Ojha
11. Ishant Sharma

Needless to say, our fast bowling looks weak, which is probably not the best thing going into the West Indies. Ishant really needs to find form.

He did pretty well in England in the Warm-up games before the test series. Of course he didn't play in any of the test matches but I've heard he could be playing in this series.

Thats a class lineup given the current situation.Nehra and Karthik might get a look in though.

I don't think Badri will bat that high if he gets in the team, but that's where I'd put him so he can play the Dravid-esque rule. Ravi Jadeja would probably be useful in our middle order here; in case we lose early wickets he can come in to stabilize. Or if we don't lose early wickets, to build a platform in the middle overs for the likes of Yusuf and.... well just Yusuf.

Can't believe Irfan got dropped after doing nothing wrong in the T20 World Cup. And I think Praveen Kumar may slip in ahead of the second spinner or all-rounder if our batting seems solid.

Dont worry about short stuff in ODIs. Indians can handle short bowl well but dont know how to score consistently at good rate against it. In ODIs you have 300 balls as compared to 120 in T20 and also carribean pitches are not that quick anymore.
But we dont have good record against WI in ODIs. For some strange reason even without short stuff we have failed against them even in India.

I think its too early they dropped Raina (if the real reason was not a hair line fracture). He needs to get exposure to these tough conditions if hes in our future plans.

Yup Jadeja can be useful in stabilizing an innings. But I cant see him accelerate after that.Thats his problem.Maybe he needs to improve in his big hitting abilities. But the West Indian grounds are far smaller than that of the English ones.So he might be successful in clearing the in field atleast.

Raina was our batsman in form till Dhoni messed up. He played well in Kiwiland as well where bowl does more tricks than it will do in WI.
