India tour of Australia - 2018/19

Bad grammar aside, Amla, Gilly, McCullum and Tendulkar didn't bat as a regular opener in Tests. Your point?

BTW, why does India need another opener when you have 4 capable options already in Vijay, Rahul, Shaw and Patel?
Both the opener didn't perform well .they don't blame on openers but the blame is going to rohit Sharma whenever he fails[DOUBLEPOST=1544935776][/DOUBLEPOST]

They got chance to open in Test. But why Not rohit Sharma

Time for Pant to contribute, I have a feeling he will. Need to score at least 300 here.

Poor batting this by Pant now first ball of the over single to get Umesh on strike to face Starc.

.

And Rohit Sharma is stabilized player ? Wow. Okay !

Rohit isn't..... Vihari will

And what's this all whinging about ? I never called Rohit a good Test player. He definitely needs to improve a lot. Infact it wasn't about Rohit at all. It was about Rahul not being able to give good starts to the team, it was about him not being able to perform as well as he used to about 2 yrs ago but then LiveLoveABD started pointing out at me like "Very rich of a Rohit fan to give moral science lessons about chances being offered", did I even talk about Rohit ? Then what was a need for him to say like that ? I definitely don't have a problem for being corrected for my mistakes but pointing out is something that I didn't like. Not good of a member being designated as "Panel of Selectors" who has contributed to this forum with his notable contributions and knowledge to behave irresponsibly like that. And there were instances when I questioned Rohit's presence in the team before 2015 but his Limited Overs exploits especially Overseas were such that I became a fan of his. And there are few points discussed on this thread being illogical sort of blaming towards Rohit Sharma. The point being Rohit never ever performing well at the Test level is wrong. There are instances where India didn't lose matches because of Rohit performing well in difficult situations and conditions. You can look at the knocks that I've mentioned above. The bold ones are the ones where he actually helped the team to a great extent

When it comes to Limited overs. all Will Be Supporting Rohit Sharma

Would've been so useful had Bhuvi played. We'd at least get a few more runs if we had him at 8 rather than an incompetent Shami at his position. I just hop Pant has the brains not to consistently give the strike to Yadav especially against Starc. He just faced 5 deliveries of an over against Starc. Bringing this deficit down to maybe 20-30 runs will be better at this point, but Yadav has faced 23 balls already which is irresponsible by Pant.

Also high risk of getting injured as well on a dangerous pitch with those nasty bouncers from Starc.

But he is hanging out there really nice great courage and determination from Yadav to survive 28 deliveries.

I have seen and followed matches when Nair dug his team out of the hole and won matches.

It was KL Rahul not Karun Nair. You are confusing both of them. Rahul scored few double and triple hundreds in 2014/15 Ranji Trophy which lead him to Test selection. And mostly I've seen R.Vinay Kumar and Stuart Binny do that for Karnataka and not Karun Nair

Karun Nair has a damn triple hundred in TEST cricket.

So you don't want Prithvi Shaw to open the innings as he is young and inexperienced player ?

Few players are made for International level. Domestic Cricket is too short a journey for a player like him. Shubman Gill better stick to it[DOUBLEPOST=1544939242][/DOUBLEPOST]

On the flattest of flat wickets being dropped 5 times ? Even KL Rahul scored 199 but was very unfortunate to miss out. He had a 400 to his name if he stayed

All resistance ends here with Pant's wicket. Pretty disappointing for India, a lead would've been particularly useful but our long tail hurt us today. I'll say it again, if there was someone competent enough to bat and get a few runs we'd have only given a few runs away or even taken a lead.

Nathan Lyon having yet another fantastic series against the Indians.

Damn !!!! What a stupid end to the innings !!!! 400 was for our taking but few loose shots cost us. Rahane disappointed again. Vihari was unfortunate. And a poor shot from Kohli to get out. But somebody please give a piece of mind to Rishabh Pant :facepalm

Pant had to slog, and he did it wonderfully to finish 3rd top scorer of the innings.

That is it.. so much trash around here off goes few people in the ignore list.

Australia have a good lead of 44 runs. We need wickets and that to quick wickets. Rahane, Pujara, Vihari, Kohli and Pant played well. Scores in the end and time taken to build innings matter. Handy defense by Umesh as well.
