India tour of Australia - 2018/19

Jadeja picked for the Australia tour despite being only 70-80% fit. Jadeja fielding in the Perth test and firing throws from the deep and also involved in a heated exchange with Ishant Sharma, despite being 70-80% fit. BCCI steps in for damage control after Shastri's "Jaddugate" comment by saying that Jadeja is fully fit for the Melbourne test.

This is full-on drama going on in BCCI and Indian cricket. Ravi Shastri has utterly made it a laughing stock (I am not referring to his belly stock, in anyways). And Mr. Best Batsman threw Anil Kumble out, for this clown (for those who ask, Diana Edulji, a member of the CoA, has alleged that Mr. Best Batsman sent many texts to Vinod Rai to get Kumble out and extend the coach application deadline in order to fit his yes-man Shastri in).

Gavaskar might shoot stuff out of his mouth, but he is absolutely spot on when he says that Kohli HAS TO BE on the firing line if India do not win this series. For his share of nonsense that Gavaskar has spouted over the years, his recent comments have been on the button. Somebody with the name that he has, had to press the button and I am happy that he has. Kohli has to be fired from captaincy if India return home without a test series win in Australia (remember, we have lost the SA and ENG test series too and this would mean we return home empty handed; so called best team in the world). I would go as far to say that even with the 2019 WC looming, Kohli should lose all captaincy. India won't do worser in the WC without Kohli's captaincy.

So the coach says a player is not 100% fit while the Board says he is. Nice. I'm loving it.

Also, it's funny as well as something to be concerned about

So Vijay and Rahul both are dropped, Vihari to open

1 Mayank Agarwal
2 Hanuma Vihari
3 Cheteshwar Pujara
4 Virat Kohli (capt)
5 Ajinkya Rahane
6 Rohit Sharma
7 Rishabh Pant (wk)
8 Ravindra Jadeja
9 Mohammed Shami
10 Ishant Sharma
11 Jasprit Bumrah

I think this is out strongest XI without the fact that Ashwin is still out. What injury did he picked? Good to see they did not let Pandya get back into the team.[DOUBLEPOST=1545705221][/DOUBLEPOST]It would not be a bad thing under this circumstance to see what Rohit could do if he opens.

Gavaskar actually looks more composed and talks much sense when he is giving interviews to news channels (the last time time I saw him on aaj tak ) saying that Kohli - Shashtri should be under the firing line if they don't win the series and also complained why the likes of Dhoni,Dhawan and others not playing Ranji trophy matches which is supposedly our premier domestic competition. Compared to what he does in pre and post match shows or even in the commentary box(behaves like an absolute tool) this is actually quite good of him to criticize openly about things considering how legendary batsmen he was played international cricket.

Very interesting that they have announced the XI, almost 24 hrs before the game. No opportunity for speculations! But a makeshift opener? And just 4 bowlers? MCG is likely to be more batsman friendly, which means we could need 5 bowlers. Hanuma Vihari is available as a 5th option but Hardik could've been used as the seaming 5th option, in place of Rohit atleast. Hardik and Rohit are equal in terms of batting in TESTS (if it was ODI's, there is no comparison; it would be insulting for Rohit).

I guess Vihari is going to open the batting with Mayank Agarwal. What a travesty? Vijay, Rahul, Shaw all come on tour and we finally end up with a makeshift opener!!

I think they don't want a repeat of what happened in England where Ashwin came back half fit after the recovery from injury. It's actually good that they are precautious on Ashwin. If he is really fit, he should play at SCG.

Make shift opener. :facepalm

I have a horrid feeling Rohit will open.

It's pretty pathetic that the captain who came out and said Rahul's 2nd innings was crucial and then one bad test and he's dropped. Any idiot could say that Vijay was back to his best in the second innings at Perth. Poor decisions. Should have been given the entire series.

If Rohit somehow opens the innings for India, I am 200% sure that I won't follow Indian test cricket from thereon for quite some time to come (until some sane test captain and a better test coach are brought in). And it would indeed mean that India have stopped giving test cricket its due respect and it's indeed better that the format dies its death in India.

Vihari opening is not a terrible thing because he has the game to battle out in challenging conditions that most often comes when you open the batting.

If rohit performs well Do you See test match

Don't get your knots all tied up, my friend. I am a big fan of Rohit Sharma in ODI's/T20's and even think he should be full time captain of India, replacing Kohli, in limited overs formats. But for me, Rohit is nowhere yet a test material and 1000% not an ideal opener (even as a makeshift option) for test cricket.

I m saying if he became success in test cricket then will you support him in test

What was the need to bring in Rohit Sharma in such a situation in this series ? I mean Vijay looked really good and confident in the 2nd innings at Perth it was no point to drop him. If Mayank Agarwal was to be brought in the XI it would've been at the expense of KL Rahul who wasn't looking in the right frame of mind but dropping Vijay ?

And even if you wanted to drop KL and Vijay then why not for Parthiv Patel and Mayank Agarwal rather than Rohit and Agarwal. This is literally like spoiling the balance of the team. :facepalm

It's unlikely for Vihari to perform well while opening than playing at 6 which he has always done even while playing domestic Cricket

More blunders.

#1 They make one good decision by doing something about the opening pair and then ruin it by dropping them both. I feel it should have been just one of the two, thereby allowing Agarwal to get that slot. One step forward, two steps back.

#2 Given the composition of the team now, why bring in another liability in Rohit Sharma? He can't open and to make him accommodate in the middle order, Vihari might be asked to open? So you move a batsman who has had decent outings (not great but certainly better than the rest at his position) at his current position to let another low-on-confidence player take his spot?

#3 Mr. Coach says Jadeja isn't 100% fit and two days later he finds a spot in the playing XI? Seems legit. This, however, looks like a good move as Jadeja might be a better option than H.Pandya. He along with Vihari can enable India to have 5 bowling options (2 spin + 3 seam)

Hats off to them!

Chief selector says Jadeja was fit when picked. Coach says he wasn't. MSD now back in the T20 squad. Chief selector has ruled out Vihari as a long term opening option. This is an absolute shambles.

No one has any idea what is happening.

Mark my words, if Australia win the toss and bat, we will lose this test.
